Quuador's Collection - Spare book closet put to good use

That casual picture of Arita signing those cards is incredible, such a cool thing to have. Fun read

Another package arrived from my US middleman today. It included the latest English Pikachu and FA Supporter releases, as well as a bunch of misprint/miscut Pikachu cards (which I will show soon alongside all my misprinted cards in the new ‘Pikachu around the World’ part).
Two arrivals that are defintely worth mentioning however:

A 2x2 partial uncut Neo Genesis Common sheet including Pikachu. Obviously it’s a NFC (non factory cut / aftermarket cut), but it’s cool regardless, and I’m happy to add this unique miniature uncut sheet with Pikachu to my collection:

And another new card I’m very happy about: a thin stamp red cheeks Base Set Pikachu.

This second picture shows my yellow and red cheeks thin stamps at the top and regular thick stamps (3D for the yellow cheeks) thick stamps at the bottom:

The third picture was an attempt at putting them in the correct order of width: the bottom being a regular thick stamp (red cheeks Base Set Pikachu); the second from the bottom, which is graded, the thin stamp yellow cheeks, which is kinda in between thick and thin in terms of width as is usually the case with thin stamps non-holo Base Set cards; the second from the top is the new thin stamp red cheeks; and the top is a regular thin stamp (Jungle Pikachu).
Because of the graded yellow cheeks thin stamp, putting them in the correct order isn’t exactly ideal to make pictures. So the fourth photo below it are the same four cards out of order, with the graded thin stamp yellow cheeks at the bottom, followed by the new thin stamp red cheeks, thick Base Set, and thin Jungle respectively.

Since it’s as thin as a regular thin stamp, I was at first a bit skeptical about its legitimacy. But on closer inspection I don’t see anything wrong with it. The position is the exact same for all three Base Set 1st edition stamps, with the right side of the T aligning with the artwork border above it (the stamp on the Jungle Pikachu is slightly shifted towards the left in comparison); comparing it to the Jungle thin stamp with my 40x mini microscope I also don’t see any notable difference; and I also couldn’t rub it off when being reasonably rough with my finger just yet.

I’m happy to finally have both a thin stamp yellow and red cheeks Base Set Pikachu in my collection, since I’ve been searching for one for quite a while. I’ve seen three red cheeks thin stamp Pikachu before (two of them were also smudged), and my yellow cheeks is still the only thin stamp example I’ve seen.

Big congrats on finally adding the thin red cheeks! The mini-cut sheet is also fun

Thanks! Happy to have finally found it. Now I just have to find the grey stamp red cheeks Pikachu and square cut Base Set Pikachu to have all major Base Set Pikachu error variations.

And the 2x2 miniature uncut sheet was indeed a fun purchase as well. Most full uncut sheet are multiple thousands of USD at least, so I never really wanted them for my collection. But when I saw this 2x2 miniature uncut sheet for just 125 bucks, I couldn’t resist.

I’ve made quite a bunch of corrections to the Portuguese part recently, with some help of both Efour members and rayquaza.br on IG. Big thanks to both of them for the info! I’ve also made those same changes to my Sets and Languages overview thread and the Bulbapedia pages. (I’m still looking for the Portuguese release dates, though.)

Figured I’d let everyone known, in case someone who collect all languages used my threads as reference.
(And this is also the 15th post on this page, so I can post my ‘Pikachu around the World’ misprints post that I’m currently working on on the next page. )

Time for the misprinted Pikachu part:

The first fourteen language parts were Chinese (click here to go to that part); Dutch (click here to go to that part); English (click here to go to that part); French (click here to go to that part); German (click here to go to that part); Indonesian (click here to go to that part); Italian (click here to go to that part); Japanese (click here to go to that part); Korean (click here to go to that part); Polish (click here to go to that part); Portuguese (click here to go to that part); Russian (click here to go to that part); Spanish (click here to go to that part); and Thai (click here to go to that part).
And the first three special parts were the Unofficial Pikachu cards (click here to go to that part); Jumbo Cameos (click here to go to that part); and Autographed cards (click here to go to that part).

We now go over all other misprinted/error Pikachu cards in my collection, that weren’t mentioned yet in the Misprinted section of the “Unofficial Pikachu cards” part we did earlier. The misprinted/error cards mentioned in the previous part are (usually) repeating and well-known, whereas the Pikachu cards in this part will be general printing process misprints/errors, like miscut/off-centered cards; ink drops/lines; crimped cards; holo bleeds; etc.

Misprints:

I will go over them with the same type of misprints grouped together. For some of those type of misprints I have 20+, for others only one or two. They also vary in how misprinted they are (e.g. one miniature ink drop vs an ink smudge/line or slightly off-centered vs heavy miscut with other card visible).

Shifts:

The first part is about Holofoil and Ridges misalignments. This type of misprints doesn’t happen too often, but it seems to happen more often since the Sword & Shield era. Not too surprising, the holofoil shifted cards I own are all from this Sword & Shield era, for which I currently have three.
The SWSH063 is correctly centered, but the holofoil layer is shifted upwards. As for the English Celebrations Surfing/Flying Pikachu V cards, the holofoil layer is actually correctly centered, but because both cards are miscut bottom-to-top, the holofoil is still misaligned because of that. (Both of these cards are only miscut at the front, with a regular well-centered back.)

The next one is a holofoil shift as well, but it’s so minor it’s almost not worth mentioning. I have seen much more obvious and extreme examples, and I’m still looking for one myself, but even though it’s minor, it’s still a misprint for my collection. The holofoil 25th anniversary logo on this Jumbo Pikachu is shifted about a mm to the right.

It’s also possible to have shifted ridges. A lot of full art Secret Rare cards have ridges these days, and those can be misaligned with the actual card/artwork. In the one Pikachu card with shifted ridges that I have, it’s not a full art Secret Rare card, but the golden 25th anniversary Base Pikachu instead. As you can see, the ridges are shifted towards the left, causing kind of a shadow effect (it’s especially notable at the Energy symbols and the height/weight rectangle below the artwork). In addition, the “h” in Pikachu is also missing some black ink, making this a double misprint.

(Partially) Missing Stamps:

Kinda similar as the missing stamp WB Pikachu promo that I’ve showed in the earlier ‘Pikachu around the World’ part, there are misprints where the stamps are completely or partially missing. For the one I have, it’s a Korean Base Set Pikachu from the Pikachu World Collection 2000 set, which only has a partial Pikachu tail stamp.

Miscuts / Square Cuts / Off-centered:

Next we have the miscuts, square cuts, and off-centered cards. Starting with the most extreme miscuts/square cuts in my Pikachu collection, and going down from there.
Let me first explain the difference between the three:

  • Square cuts: square-cuts are those where at least one of the corners of the card isn’t rounded, but at a 90 degrees square cut instead. I have yet to see a card with three square-cut corners, but cards with two or four square-cut corners are pretty common in terms of square cuts, and every once in a while you have cards with a single square cut. I unfortunately missed my chance on an English unlimited edition Base Set Pikachu single square cut a few years back, when four of them were put on eBay, all from the same ZAP! Theme Deck, but they defintely exist despite how odd it might seem from a production standpoint. With full square cuts (those with four square cut corners), there is also a difference between square cuts pulled directly from products, and NFS (Non Factory Cut), which were cut out from uncut sheets. And with halve square cuts (those with two square cut corners), the ones with two square cuts at either the top or bottom can also have two different causes: one a production error and one a packaging error. The second is almost always accompanied by crimps, which we’ll talk about later on.
  • Miscuts & off-centered: miscuts and off-centered cards are fairly similar. Both of them are basically cut uneven, or in some cases even at an angle. Miscuts are those where part of another card is visible, OR which are off-centered with a printing dot visible. Printing dots are in the corners of uncut sheets, as can for example be seen on this zoomed in uncut Machamp sheet, and since the corners of cards are always rounded, they should never be present on actual cards. If a card is off-centered, but has this printing dot visible at either the front, back, or both sides, it would still be considered a miscut by most people (including me). Although most grading companies would simply make the distinction between: “is another card visible? → miscut; if not → off-centered”.

Having explained that, let’s get right into it, starting of with some square cuts:

Here we have an English unlimited edition Neo Genesis Pikachu that’s square cut. This one is most likely a NFC.

Speaking of Neo Genesis NFC, I recently also added this partially 2x2 uncut sheet, including a Pikachu at the bottom-left. The other three Pokémon are the 55/11 Chinchou and 63/11 Ledyba at the top and 73/111 Slowpoke at the bottom-right.

Next we have two English XY Evolutions Pikachu, one which is square cut at the right-hand side and one at the left-hand side. I hope to add a full square cut version to my collection one day.

Next we have three more halve square cuts. The English Evolving Skies Pikachu is square cut at the top; the English SWSH061 Pikachu V promo is miscut right-to-left with a square cut left side; and the English McDonald’s Collection 2018 Pikachu is square cut at the left side as well.

Next we have a French Furious Fists Reverse Holo Pikachu with a single partially square cut corner at the bottom-right. Unfortunately, it’s was still partially cut off so isn’t a nice square cut corner, but it’s still not properly rounded as it should be.

Next we’re going to the actual miscuts. Starting with this rotated Italian SWSH061 Pikachu V promo.

Despite its weird shape, it’s still the same size as a regular card, as can be seen here when we put a regular card underneath it:

Next an English XY Pikachu which is miscut bottom-to-top, with the partial card visible above it being a blank filler:

Next three pretty big miscuts as well. Two WB promos that are miscut top-to-bottom. One with Dragonite visible (the only Dragonite in my Pikachu collection :stuck_out_tongue: ), and the other with a slither of purple visible, from the Mewtwo WB promo. And in the middle we have an English Unbroken Bonds Pikachu that’s miscut bottom-to-top, with a 51/214 Froakie above it based on the partial flavor text “… otherwise take when attacked.”.

Next some XY Evolutions Pikachu miscuts with other cards visible. The first is an English Reverse Holo with Magmar above it (the only Fire-Type Pokémon with Ken Sugimori as illustrator and with Uncommon rarity symbol); next to it an English non-holo with a Grass-Type Pokémon above it; and then a French non-holo with which is a shifted miscut, with a Fire-Type Pokémon at its bottom-left hand side.

Then we have an English Next Destinies and English Furious Fists Pikachu. Both of them are miscut top-to-bottom, and have a slither of the “Basic” Pokémon visible at the left side of the bottom edge.

Then we have my only Jumbo miscut card, which is another English SWSH061 Pikachu V promo, miscut top-to-bottom. (This Jumbo card is only miscut at the front, with a regular well-centered back.) You don’t see miscut Jumbo cards too often, so I was happy to add this to my collection last year.

Those were all the miscut cards with partially visible other cards. Next we go over the miscuts, or perhaps heavy off-centered cards, with printing dots visible. We start with some WotC era ones: an English Neo Genesis 1st edition Pikachu miscut top-to-bottom with a printing dot at the bottom-left; an English Gym Heroes unlimited edition Pikachu miscut right-to-left with a printing dot at the top-left; an English Base Set unlimited edition ©1999-2000 Pikachu miscut top-to-bottom with a printing dot visible at the bottom-left of the back of the card; an English WB Pikachu promo miscut right-to-left with a printing dot at the top-left; and a French WB Pikachu promo miscut bottom-to-top with a printing dot at the top-left as well.

And some from later eras: an English HGSS03 Holofoil Pikachu promo miscut top-to-bottom with a printing dot at the bottom-right of the back side of the card; an English Holofoil XY Pikachu miscut bottom-right to top-left with a printing dot visible at that top-left; an English Generations - Radiant Collection Holofoil full art Pikachu miscut left-to-right with a printing dot at the bottom-right; two English Burning Shadows Pikachu, one miscut left-to-right with a printing dot at the top-left of the back of the card and one miscut right-to-left with a printing dot at the bottom-left; an English Sword & Shield Pikachu miscut right-to-left with a printing dot at the top-left; and finally a SM248 Golden full art Pikachu & Zekrom GX promo miscut top-left to bottom-right with a printing dot visible at that bottom-right (this last one is also only miscut at the front, with a well-centered back).

And now we go over all the off-centered cards. Most of them are pretty minor, but some are actually more off-centered than some of the miscuts above, but because they lack a printing dot they’re still considered off-centered instead of miscut.
We start with some old Japanese cards: an Expansion Pack Pikachu off-centered left-to-right; a Flying Pikachu promo off-centered top-to-bottom; and an Ivy Pikachu off-centered bottom-right to top-left.

Next two English Base Set 2 Pikachu that are (heavy) off-centered top-to-bottom; a German EX Emerald Pikachu (with code 6MF) off-centered top-to-bottom; and a German EX Holon Phantoms 79/110 Pikachu off-centered right-to-left.

Then an English Next Destinies Pikachu off-centered top-to-bottom; a French Roaring Skies Pikachu off-centered top-to-bottom; and an English Legendary Treasures - Radiant Collection Pikachu off-centered right-to-left.

As for some more modern off-centered cards: an English Shining Legends Sequin Holofoil Pikachu off-centered left-to-right; an English Team Up 33/181 Pikachu & Zekrom GX off-centered right-to-left; a German 162/181 Pikachu & Zekrom GX off-centered bottom-left to top-right; two German Ash’s Pikachu promos (SM110 and SM114) both off-centered bottom-to-top; two Spanish Ash’s Pikachu promos (SM111 and SM114) both off-centered left-to-right; three English SM76 Holofoil promo Pikachu off-centered top-to-bottom, bottom-to-top, and left-to-right respectively; an Italian SWSH061 Pikachu V promo off-centered right-to-left; and a German SWSH061 Pikachu V promo off-centered top-left to bottom-right.

And the final two miscut/off-centered cards are both PSA-graded. A Korean Base Set Pikachu from the Pikachu World Collection 2000 that’s miscut bottom-to-top with print dot visible at the top-left and graded PSA-9(OC) (the tail stamp is at the correct position however, so it’s slightly higher than where it would be on a well-centered copy of this card); and an English Base Set 1st edition yellow cheeks Pikachu that’s off-centered bottom-to-top and graded PSA-7 (without qualifier).

Ink Misprints:

Next, we’re going over some ink-related misprints. This includes cards that were low on ink; ink lines/smudges; ink dots/hickeys; etc.

We start with an English SM194 Detective Pikachu promo, where the entire card is slighter in color. This probably happened because of uncut sheets being stacked before the ink was properly dried. When I bought this Pikachu, there were a bunch of similar Detective Pikachu promo cards available, most likely all from the same uncut sheet. (The regular Pikachu on the right is there for comparison purposes.)

Next we have two English Holon Phantoms Pikachu cards, which were both low on black ink, causing the texts to be grey. (The Pikachu cards on the right are there for comparison.)

Something similar happened with this English Celebrations Pikachu, where all the black ink appears grey as well:

Next we have the opposite. Instead of being low on ink causing black to appear grey, they’ve used too much ink of a certain color (magenta in this case), causing parts of the card that are supposed to be yellow to appear orange. Here both an English Shining Legends and Crimson Invasion Pikachu like that on the left, with the regular yellow versions on the right as comparison. (Minor note: the Italian Crimson Invasion Reverse Holo Pikachu are also orange like the cards on the left below; I’ve thus far been unable to find a corrected yellow version for this Italian Reverse Holo Pikachu however, so it seems all of those Italian cards have the same uncorrected misprint.)

Here we have an English Furious Fists Pikachu that wasn’t low on ink on the card itself or text, but on the Reverse Holofoil layer instead. As you can see, the lightning bolts on the Reverse Holo on the left are pretty vague, unlike the regular version on the right.

Next we go over some ink lines/smudges. The English unlimited edition Jungle Pikachu has a black ink smudge through its name; the French Pikachu World Collection 2000 Surfing Pikachu has a thin blue ink line anti-diagonally above its name; an English XY Evolutions Pikachu with a horizontal thin green ink line just above its flavor text, going all the way over the card and card borders; another English XY Evolutions Pikachu with a green ink smudge at the bottom border; an English SM76 Pikachu promo with black ink smudge all the way through the bottom; and an English Celebrations Pikachu with holofoil ink smudge horizontally at the bottom as well.

Next we have an English Reverse Holo Evolving Skies Pikachu with thirteen red ink hickeys at the top halve of the card. A big one can be partially seen at the top border; some can be seen in the picture itself; etc. Ink hickeys are caused by debris on the ink rollers, causing circles to appear on the cards. The well-known English “d” edition Jungle Butterfree misprint is an example of an ink hickey as well. Printer hickeys and dots are overall not too hard to find, but this is the first time I saw so many ink hickeys on the same card.

Next we have two English unlimited edition Base Set Pikachu with two different type of ink hickeys at the top part of the left border; an English SM76 Pikachu promo with blue ink scribbles at the top-left of the artwork; a Spanish Crimson Invasion Pikachu with a white ink hickey just above the first attack; and two SWSH039 Sequin Holofoil Pikachu promos, one with a black ink dot above the first attack and one with a red ink dot at the second attack. Loads of both red and black ink drop misprints can be found for this SWSH039 Sequin Holofoil Pikachu.

Next some ink dots that are so small they’re almost unnoticeable. Yet, they are noticeable enough for me wanting to replace them for a clean copy when I received them… The first is a Spanish Vivid Voltage 170/185 Pikachu V with a white/grey ink dot left of the 200 in the second attack; the second an Italian Unbroken Bonds Pikachu with a grey ink dot just below the attack (halfway between the Energy Symbols and “Pikasfera” text); an English unlimited edition Jungle Pikachu with a white ink dot in the bottom border at the right side just below the set number; and a Chinese Amazing Volt Tackle 114/100 Hyper Rare Pikachu with a grey ink dot below Pikachu’s mouth.

And finally we have some ink dots that aren’t on the front of the back, but on the back instead. We have a German Rising Rivals Pikachu with two light grey ink dots (one at the left of the “P” and one below the “M” in the top Pokémon); a Polish Pikachu World Collection 2010 Pikachu with a red ink hickey below the “N” in the top Pokémon; an English Vivid Voltage Hyper Rare Pikachu with black ink smudge going horizontally through the middle of the card; and a golden 25th anniversary Base Set Pikachu with golden ink at the top border.

Crimps:

Next we go over the crimped cards. This is not a production misprint, but a packaging misprint instead. This happens when a card is partially stuck when they seal the booster pack or the plastic of a sealed promo. Here we have some cards with the crimp at the top-border: a Japanese 097/XY-P Warm Pikachu; an English XY Evolutions Pikachu; an English Burning Shadows Pikachu; an English Evolving Skies Pikachu; and an Italian Celebrations Pikachu.

Next some cards with a similar crimp at the bottom of the card: two French Ash’s Pikachu (SM111 and SM112); and an English Celebrations Pikachu.

Here also two crimped sealed promos that are still in their seal, both of them crimped at the top. An English Roaring Skies Pikachu with Build-A-Bear Workshop stamp and an English WB Pikachu (where the Catch Mew! insert card has a crimp as well).

And here two very big crimps, both again at the top of the card. An Italian XY Evolutions Pikachu with the crimp even reaching the top part of the artwork; and an English Evolving Skies Pikachu going through the name and HP, where the top portion of the card is square cut where the booster pack was cut together with a portion of this card.

Holo Bleed:
Next we go over some holo bleed cards. Holo bleed refers to parts of the card that are supposed to be non-holo being holofoil. E.g. a regular Holofoil Rare card having holofoil all over the card. This happens when the white ink layer that determines which portions of the card should be holofoil and which shouldn’t be was low on ink (more info about the white ink layer in this video).

The first is my only Reverse Holo Pikachu with holo bleed, where the artwork is holofoil as well instead of just the ‘reverse’ portion. This is an English Generations Reverse Holo Pikachu.

Next some Cosmos Holofoil cards with holo bleed: two HGSS03 Pikachu promos, one English and one Italian; an English POP Series 5 12/17 Pikachu (with upside down back); a French POP Series 9 Pikachu; and an English SM76 Pikachu promo. Unfortunately, holo bleeds can be tricky to capture on camera when you try to do so for multiple cards at once, so it’s primarily visible on just the HGSS03 Pikachu promos in the picture below.

Here some McDonald’s Holofoil cards with holo bleed: an English McDonald’s Collection 2015; a French McDonald’s Collection 2016; an English McDonald’s Collection 2017; a Spanish Mcdonald’s Collection 2017; and an English McDonald’s Collection 2019.

Next two SM era Water Web Holofoil cards with holo bleed: an English Shining Legends Pikachu and an English Detective Pikachu from the Detective Pikachu mini set.

And finally two Sequin Holofoil Pikachu. These actually don’t have holo bleed, but something what I’d personally call ‘shadowing’. The holofoil pattern from the Sequin symbols are visible all over the card, even in the description and card borders. (Note: Sequin Holofoil cards almost always have ‘shadowing’, and it’s actually hard to find Sequin Holofoil cards without it.)

Albino / Sun-Bleached:

Next we go over some Albino cards. Although some legit misprinted examples of Albino-bordered cards are known, I personally don’t really consider these misprints, since it can very easily be replicated by the sun. When a (WotC era) card starts to discolor, first it becomes a bit lighter overall, with beige card borders. Then the card border become pinkish. Until finally the entire card starts to discolor, and the card borders being a lighter shade of beige. Here the Base Set Pikachu in various states of discoloration, with the very first being a regular non-discolored copy as comparison. (The bottom two were sun-bleached in a sunny country for about a year on purpose.)

Next the entire Pikachu World Collection 2000 nonet that someone stored in a place with sunlight shining through the windows for a few decades by accident.

Next the English Jungle Pikachu, with the first being a regular copy for comparison again; the second with only the bottom part of the card being discolored; the third being Albino-bordered; and the fourth being sun-bleached for a year on purpose again by the same person who did the two Base Set Pikachu cards above.

The same on purpose sun-bleaching applies to this English Neo Genesis Pikachu and WB Pikachu promo.

Next a Japanese sun-discolored card, the Flying Pikachu promo with plane.

And finally a Jumbo Base Set Pikachu with Albino borders.

Sealed Promos:

Here three misprints that doesn’t apply to the cards themselves, but to the sealed packaging instead. The first is as comparison of what it’s supposed to look like: the Pikachu WB promo; an Iron Giant insert card; and a “Collect All Four Cards In This Unique Pokémon Trading Card Game Series!” insert card. The first misprinted version in the middle of the picture is missing the second insert card, and the second misprinted version contains two Pikachu WB promos instead of one.

And there you have it. All misprinted/error Pikachu cards in my collection (minus two that are still incoming).

After this there is just one more ‘Pikachu around the World’ part left to do: all my altered/extended painted Pikachu cards, which I collected before, but kinda stopped two years ago to save money. In that final part I will also go over a few exceptions, like sealed or graded Pikachu cards that I also own raw, and things like that. But more about that later.

Wow, congrats @quuador, that is some level of dedication! Very interesting post, which is my favorite of the series. A pleasure to read it in whole.

Time for the semi-last ‘Pikachu around the World’ parts:

The first fourteen language parts were Chinese (click here to go to that part); Dutch (click here to go to that part); English (click here to go to that part); French (click here to go to that part); German (click here to go to that part); Indonesian (click here to go to that part); Italian (click here to go to that part); Japanese (click here to go to that part); Korean (click here to go to that part); Polish (click here to go to that part); Portuguese (click here to go to that part); Russian (click here to go to that part); Spanish (click here to go to that part); and Thai (click here to go to that part).
And the first four special parts were the Unofficial Pikachu cards (click here to go to that part); Jumbo Cameos (click here to go to that part); Autographed cards (click here to go to that part); and Misprinted cards (click here to go to that part).

This part will go over all altered/extended Pikachu cards, almost all of them painted by artists whom I contacted through their social medias.
For those who don’t know what altered/extended cards are: they’re basically real Pokémon TCG cards, and then painted over to alter them. Most of them will turn a regular artwork into a full art card basically.

Altered/Extended Cards:

I will first go over all altered/extended cards for the Base Set Pikachu in chronological order of when I added them to the collection, which is also how I’ve got them in my binders. And after that some more altered/extended cards for other Pikachu cards that were included as gifts.

My very first altered/extended card I got in December 2016 from Lunumbra (FB, IG, YT, blog). She’s one of the first people to make altered/extended cards, and has inspired a lot of the other artists I’ve bought a card from later on. She also included this gif below after the card had arrived.

It wasn’t until July 2017 when the next two cards arrived at my place. The second in the picture below is from errantdog (reddit) and the third with the donuts is from AlteredImagesArtWithJune (IG, Etsy). She also included two other extended/altered Pikachu cards (with candy as well  ), which I will show after all the Base Set Pikachu.

The fourth was in August 2017 from Rayquazanera, who currently goes by the name Mikiena (FB, YT, IG, Efour). I was the first she painted a card for, and she also joined the Efourum for a brief period of time. She also made this nice time-lapse video of the Pikachu she made for me:

Another one that arrived in August 2017 is the middle one in the 3x3 picture below. This one is made by SquishyArt (IG).

Next in September 2017 one made by StarlightCardArt (IG).

Then in October two at the same time again. The left one in the bottom row is from AstralTigerArt (Etsy) and the middle one of the bottom row is from NefariousPaintedCreations (IG).

And one more later in October 2017 as well from Unaysaurus, who nowadays goes by the name PourritureArtwork (Etsy).

Next, also in October 2017 just in time for Halloween, we have an altered Pikachu that isn’t extended like all the others. Instead, only the artwork itself is altered, so Pikachu appears to be a skeleton. This gives a whole new meaning to the attack Gnaw. This one is made by Houndooom (IG).

And the last one from October 2017, the second one in the 3x3 picture below, is from Christian’s Painted Pokémon Cards (FB). This one is made from a Reverse Holo XY Evolution Pikachu, and some of the holofoil is used on the finished painted card.

Then in November 2017 I was again the first customer for an altered/extended card for PokeMart101 (Etsy).

In December 2017 another one arrived. This one is from Pokepaints (FB).

Then it was quiet for a few months until the end of February 2018, with a nice card with mushrooms from artofthecards (IG, FB, YT), who is better known for her extended/altered Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

Two more that arrived in February 2018 are from Jess’ Altered Pokémon Cards (FB) and CardArts (tumblr).

Then mid-March 2018 we have one made by AngiePokeCreations (IG).

And the final one from the 3x3 picture below that arrived in March 2018 as well is from ChevellIllustrations, now known as maluridae_ (IG, YT, website).

Next we have another card using a Reverse Holo XY Evolutions Pikachu as its base, which arrived in April 2018 and is made by blvckink (YT, IG), and another card that arrived on the same day with a cute Pichu from drewzcustomcards (IG, Etsy).
blvckink also made a time-lapse video how he made the Pikachu from an extended/altered Reverse Holo Pikachu he did in the past:

Next, also in April 2018 (I also see in my update from back then I had 20 more incoming, haha), one made by miskabeee (IG).

Also in April 2018 one made by mwoaa_art (IG, website), who’s still very active today judging by the amount of IG posts I see of her.

Next one with a cute little Caterpie in the artwork, also from April 2018. This one is made by ThePurpleLagia (Etsy, IG).

Then three arrivals at the same time on May 1st, 2018: FancyKnotsandThings (her Etsy is gone); renomi.hitomi (her IG is gone); and MuteCatStudio (IG).

And two more arrived the day after on May 2nd, 2018, one of which is the last card in the 3x3 picture below. This one is made by MarcusDoddTattooist (IG).

And the other one that arrived on that same day (May 2nd, 2018) is the first card in the 3x3 picture below. This one is mad eby DeckedOutAlters (Etsy).

Next, still in May 2018 (the 8th to be exact) we have one with a Ekans lurking on Pikachu, made by RedChesst (IG).

The day after another arrival, made by greg787878 (IG).

Still in May 2018, one made by fabzart (IG).

Followed by one made by jjohto (IG) (the middle one in the 3x3 picture below).

Then a cute Detective Pikachu, which was actually pretty original considering the Detective Pikachu movie wasn’t even announced back then (although the Detective Pikachu game from 2016 did exist of course). This one is made by AmusAlts (Etsy).

Next, still in May 2018 (19th), another artist for whom I was the first customer. I like how she added an additional tree and path, changing the entire artwork pretty drastically. This one is made by BaypaintStudios (IG, Etsy, FB, website).

Next one made by shumineko (IG), with a nice reflection of Pikachu in the water.

Then we had two arrivals at the same time again on May 23rd, 2018 (May 2018 really was packed with arrivals…). One of those two is the final card in the 3x3 picture below, which is made by abar.alters (IG).

The other one that arrived on May 23rd, 2018, with the apple trees and Bulbasaur, is made by sketching_kaitydid (IG), who has a pretty rough painting style.

Next we coincidentally have three artists who all made Pikachu’s cheeks red manually. Most artists use a yellow cheeks Pikachu (likely the XY Evolution one, since it’s the cheapest), so the cheeks are usually yellow as well. But some artists like the next three have painted the cheeks red themselves.
The first one with two additional Pikachu in the artwork from May 24th, 2018, is made by fierce_arcanine (IG).
The next, for which we’ve finally reached the next month (June 2nd, 2018), is made by painted_pokemon, now known as painted_pokemon_cards (IG). I like how he added the Magikarp that are being electrocuted by Pikachu in the water, with the lightning bolts being holo from a Reverse Holo XY Evolution Pikachu.
The third Pikachu with manually painted red cheeks, and beautiful colors in especially the water, is made by miljaafa (reddit), also known as edwin.san59 (IG, FB).

Then we’re back to yellow cheeks again. The next one, in the middle of the 3x3 picture below, is made by marchallaryonna (IG) and arrived on June 13th, 2018.

Followed the next day a Pikachu with little purple flowers made by chicken_raptor (IG).

Again the next day, on June 15th, we have another Pikachu from PaintySmeargle (IG, tumblr), a very fitting name for an artist making Pokémon alters.

Next on June 20th one that’s very fitting for me since I used to collect twisty puzzless, which is a Pikachu holding a Rubik’s Cube in its little hands. This one is made by ghostparfait (IG).

And the final Pikachu in the 3x3 picture below, that arrived on June 23rd, 2018, is made by greycairn (her IG is gone, but her (inactive) aminoapps page instead).

Next from July (3rd), 2018, we have one made by JessieZeier, also known as ZeiArt (IG). I like how he painted over the Pikachu itself as well to create even yellow colors on the entire Pikachu, which is a color a lot of artists seems to have trouble with replicating.

Next another red cheeks Pikachu (standing on a mushroom), which is made by SaraBurnsRedArt (IG). She also included some stickers and painted the envelop it came in.

And one that arrived on the same day (July 14th) made by KeruArt (IG).

The next arrived at the end of August (30rd), 2018, which is made by MikiJowy (IG).

After that one from September 25th, 2018 made by arcylluna_cards (IG).

Followed by one with Ash’ Kanto region cap and Poké ball on November 20th, 2018. This one is made by kalea96 (IG, FB).

Next on January 11th, 2019 we have one made by KitsuneWynter, now known by SliceOfBrie (Etsy), and also known as briekit.art (IG).

Next on February 5th, 2019 one made by JeskaPaints (IG).

And the last from this 3x3 picture arrived on March 28th, 2019, which is made by livpokmn (IG).

Next on April 4th, 2019 we have one made by pokemoncardalters (IG, Etsy). She did a great job matching the yellow of Pikachu, which a lot of artists seem to have trouble with.

Next on April 30th one made by Silvermoon0616, nowadays known as SilvermoonCreatesArt (IG, website).

Next almost halve a year forward on August 16th, 2019, one with little berries in front of Pikachu, made by OneScribbleADay (IG).

Next that same month, on August 28th, another Pikachu with Caterpie (and Weedle as well this time), made by HollyPaintsCards (IG).

The next arrival was on October 12th, 2019, with a nice lily pond. This one is made by pixelshaped (IG).

Followed by another one later that month on October 23rd, 2019. This one, with red-and-white-stippled mushrooms, is made by shady_collects (IG).

Followed by one that was recommended to me by @azulryu which arrived on November 9th, 2019. This one was made by ChaoticCardShop (IG).

Next one where the artists removed the original trees, giving it her own twist with the night sky. This one is made by vulpixcorner, nowadays known as poki_corner (IG), which arrived on November 16th, 2019.

And the last of this 3x3 picture arrived on November 23rd, 2019, which is made by melocialters (IG).

The next arrived on December 7th, 2019, made by barbaramachadoart (IG, Etsy).

Then on December 24th, 2019 one made by kahase.paints (IG).

Next on January 11th, 2020 one made by catlikemeowth (IG), who added her custom holofoil for the background.

Next two which arrived on the same day again, January 18th, 2020. The first where Pikachu is standing behind a tree log is made by dudebro_artwork (IG). And the other where Pikachu is standing on top of a tree log next to a serene little river is made by pokesats (IG, YT).

Next on March 14th, 2020 another original one, where Pikachu is painted alongside other graffiti. This one is made by william__art (IG).

Then two more arrivals on the same day again, June 17th, 2020. The first is both a Surfing & Flying Pikachu in one, made by AdamCrowtherGallary (Etsy). And the second where Pikachu is standing on a tree log where water is flowing out of is made by lisaslovelycards (IG).

And the last altered/extended Pikachu in this 3x3 picture below is made by namelessartistsoul (IG, Etsy), also known as bubblegumkrisis (IG), which arrived on July 10th, 2020.

Next we have one where Pikachu is fishing from a rubber band. This one is made by pokelise0302 (IG), and arrived on July 14th, 2020.

The next on is from August 6th, 2020, made by enilwe.pokecards (IG, Etsy).

Then later that month on August 18th, 2020 one with twilight sky arrived, made by LostGhostFlower (Etsy, IG). She also included some nice stickers:

Next on September 19th, 2020 one made by hugamouse.art (IG), with some nice rocks in the foreground.

Then on September 24th, 2020 one made by ng_art_planet, also known as ng_card_planet (IG, Etsy).

Next one made by eRabbits (IG, Etsy, website), which arrived on October 20th, 2020. She also included a cute Chikorita in a jar sticker:

Next on November 4th, 2020 one made by kkaystudio (Etsy). It may look pretty chaotic up close with those lightning bolts, but from a distance it looks pretty cool.

Then on November 11th, 2020, the day before my birthday, another beautiful Pikachu arrived made by elielialteredcard (her IG is unfortunately gone, but here her YT). She also included a lot of cute stickers, including some with Rubik’s Cubes she custom-made for me. And she also made a video where she explained her painting process:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6_ophSflIg

And the final altered/extended Pikachu of this 3x3 picture arrived on November 15th, 2020, which is made by ArtByLizzieAnne (Etsy)

Next one that arrived on November 19th, 2020, made by DewFallsMaket (Etsy).

And the last altered/extended Base Set Pikachu I bought from an artist, and which arrived on November 25th, 2020, is from doodles.and.tee, these days known as MeowskisArt (IG, Etsy).

And those are all 83 extended/altered Base Set Pikachu I bought from artists. I like how all of them used the same base artwork, yet all look so different. Each artist has used their own style, ideas, and inspiration, creating all these works of art above.

I also have three non-Base Set Pikachu altered/extended cards, which were included as gifts when I bought the Base Set versions.

First a Furious Fists Pikachu artwork and BREAKthrough Pikachu artwork, both made by AlteredImagesArtWithJune who also made the Base Pikachu with donuts above. And the other is an XY Pikachu, made by KitsuneWynter/SliceOfBrie/briekit.art.

And the final two altered/extended cards, which weren’t bought, but gifted to me by (online) friends and fellow Efour members for my birthday in 2021. A Base Set Pikachu from Stephneechan (who left the forum a few years back) and a Jungle Pikachu made by @qwachansey .

And there you have it. All painted altered/extended Base Set Pikachu in my collection. I haven’t bought any in a long while, since the released TCG cards itself where already breaking the bank at some points, but I might get back to them one day perhaps (I do keep a list of artists I come across coincidentally whom I might contact one day).

And although I said this would be the final Pikachu around the World part, I realized I still have a few more cards I have yet to show (e.g. graded/sealed cards I received as gifts that I already have ungraded; some other altered cards that aren’t painted; some modern foreign Pikachu released after February 27th, 2021; etc.). For good measure and to have a fully complete overview of all my Pikachu cards in my collection, I’d probably make one additional small part soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

I love how much people struggle with the feet, and then others just say fuck it, there’s grass.

The penultimate post in a series that is unmatched. How bittersweet… This is a love letter to the umpteenth degree. Thank you @quuador

Here it is. The final ‘Pikachu around the World’ part of my Pikachu collection:

The first fourteen language parts were Chinese (click here to go to that part); Dutch (click here to go to that part); English (click here to go to that part); French (click here to go to that part); German (click here to go to that part); Indonesian (click here to go to that part); Italian (click here to go to that part); Japanese (click here to go to that part); Korean (click here to go to that part); Polish (click here to go to that part); Portuguese (click here to go to that part); Russian (click here to go to that part); Spanish (click here to go to that part); and Thai (click here to go to that part).
And the first five special parts were the Unofficial Pikachu cards (click here to go to that part); Jumbo Cameos (click here to go to that part); Autographed cards (click here to go to that part); Misprinted cards (click here to go to that part); and Altered/Extended Pikachu cards (click here to go to that part).

This final part is for all the miscellaneous cards that are outside of the other parts, like graded or sealed cards I also already have raw; some custom non-painted cards; my very first Pikachu card from my youth; etc.

Miscellaneous Pikachu cards:

First of all the very first Pikachu card I ever owned. I never got the Base Set Pikachu from a booster pack (I did of course got it through trades eventually), so my very first Pikachu card - which I’ve pulled myself - was the Jungle Pikachu (in English unlimited edition). It’s of course in played condition these days, and to not accidentally misplace it, I’ve put a “1” at the back of the card - something I’ve never done before and also won’t recommend for obvious reasons.

Next some foreign Pikachu cards I own, that are released after February 27th, 2021, after which I’ve only continued collecting English and Japanese exclusive Pikachu cards.

The ones I have are the Japanese, Korean, and Indonesian Eevee Heroes 026/069 Pikachu; the French Evolving Skies 049/203 non-Holo Pikachu; and a sealed Korean 120/S-P Swallowed Up Pikachu promo. These either came for free with other cards, or in case of the promo was a trade for some duplicated Pikachu cards.

Next some gifts I received, which all came from Efour Secret Santa if I remember correctly: a PSA-9 224/SM-P and PSA-9 211/SM-P; sealed English Generations Pikachu promos with Toys R Us and 20th Anniversary stamps; and a sealed English Generations booster pack featuring Pikachu.

Next some sealed Pikachu cards that I also already have raw.

We have the three different sealed versions of the English WotC #4 WB promo Pikchu:

Two sealed XY 42/146 Holofoil Pikachu, one from the UK and one from the US.

And a random German SM190 Pikachu with Detective Pikachu stamp (which I’ve pulled from a French Detective Pikachu DVD when I was looking for the French copy… :slightly_frowning_face: ) and Japanese 121/S-P Pikachu V promo.

Next a sealed UK ©1999-2000 Base Set ZAP! Theme Deck. I actually planned to open it when I bought it, to grade some of the ©1999-2000 cards, and to have the checklist card with regular Pokémon back for my collection. But I decided to keep it sealed when I received it. I guess I can always open it in the future if I ever feel like it.

Next this very cool CGC-8.5 ‘zoomed in Pikachu’, aka a solid yellow WotC Neo era filler card. After I’ve heard people say these yellow filler cards are just zoomed in Pikachu cards as a joke, I couldn’t resist getting one for my collection. Some more info about this filler card can be found here in this previous collection post.

Next we have this Japanese 153/PCG-P Pikachu promo with ‘genki’ stamp (げんき I think?), which someone told me means ‘Healthy’. The character seems to be Pompompurin, a golden retriever Sanrio character from the Hello Kitty anime/cartoon. It’s probably just a stamp from a store, but I just bought it on impulse many years ago, since it was cheap and I figured there’s a very minor chance it was some obscure stamped version I hadn’t heard about.

And last we have some custom made thicker cards. The one on the right was a gift from @xzini , that came simultaneously with the ones from Qwachansey and Stephaneechan I mentioned in the previous part as a birthday gift (@azulryu 's custom card was unfortunately lost - the four of them send me the gift together). The middle one I received as a gift with an order for some Seviper stickers once, from a seller on IG (xxvanessa.xo). And the one on the left I made myself with some duplicated XY Evolutions Pikachu cards, when I was in a (rare  ) creative mood, haha. :slightly_smiling_face:

Apart from these, I also have some more Pikachu cards not really worth mentioning: some fake cards; some non-TCG cards like the three Topsun variations (blue back no number misprint; blue back corrected; and green back), the four Indian Funskool Pikachu, some Topps Pikachu, etc.; Pikachu cards signed by Efour members; a lot of non-Pikachu TCG cards featuring a Pikachu in their artwork as cameo (which I do collect for Jumbo cards as shown earlier, but not for regular sized cards); some post cards; some duplicated Pikachu cards for other collections (e.g. my FA Supporter collection includes full art Pokémon cards featuring characters, so I also have an Ash’s Pikachu GX and Red’s Pikachu promo cards in that collection; my ‘first’ card from each language collection includes some Pikachu; etc.).

But there you have it. I will try to update the earlier parts soon, since some cards were added after I made some of the parts. But apart from that, these 14 language and 6 special parts contain the entirety of my Pikachu collection.

Now that that’s finally complete, I will soon start posting my non-TCG Seviper collection, which I’ve been working on for the past year and haven’t shared anywhere yet (as soon as the existing ‘Pikachu around the World’ parts have been updated, and some incoming non-TCG Seviper items have arrived).

Epic Pikachu collection! I had never seen the pikachu riding wailmer art before.

I have shown it in some of the previous parts as well. It’s released in the POP Series 5 in English, German, and Italian, and the English Holofoil version is also well-known for its misprint with upside down Pokémon back.

But it’s indeed a nice artwork. And thanks for the compliment.

Every time I see this thread update, I continue to be more and more impressed! That “げんき?” stamp is very curious, it’s one of the Sanrio character Pompompurin, so perhaps it was a child’s handiwork?

Oh, I had no idea what character it was, but it indeed seems to be Pompompurin. Thanks for the info, I’ll edit that in.

And thanks for the compliment. This was the last Pikachu update for a while (unless I find one of those ten missing Pikachu cards in the near future :eyes:). But you can expect the non-TCG Seviper update in a not too distant future update.

I have absolutely loved the Pikachu around the world series and think I’ve read every single one in-depth. Truly amazing and inspiring, @quuador! But I gotta be honest, I am stoked for some Seviper love!

This is kinda a filler post, since I wanted the next post to be on the next page.

Now that my ‘Pikachu around the World’ collection series is done (I’ve also updated all existing posts, except for the Japanese, Portuguese, and Misprinted parts, for which I still have cards incoming), it’s time for my non-TCG Seviper collection, starting with the first part on the next page.
