Hello everyone!

I’ve recently gotten back into collecting, and I’m really happy to have found this forum.

These days, I focus on modern Japanese cards with standout artwork, and I especially love cards that feature trainers.

Looking forward to connecting with you all!

welcome @trainerwill . I love Japanese promos. I do tend to do more of the vintage collection, but do enjoy a good promo and some of the Modern Japanese Promos. 2016-2019 era are fantastic! I look forward to hearing more about your collection. @koala keeps us up to date on new Japanese releases and there are some great articles here if you look in the Articles tab. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum

Welcome, trainerwill! Trainer character cards are fun! I remember being drawn to them in the early days because we rarely see people on cards in this TCG. =) I 'm sure you’ll find the forum community positive and friendly.

Evening all,

I’m Michael and live in Canada.

I am new to Pokemon collecting, although my boys were into some collecting when it first came out. They stopped collecting quite some time ago due to interest in sports. Now, years later, one of my sons found quite a stash of their Pokemon and sports cards.

He recently started going through what he had and was pleasantly surprised by some of the cards he had. And as an added bonus, his young son was quite enthralled by them!

So now dad has not only started to organize his own collection, but has also started one for his son.

Although I had never gotten into collecting, I was always entertained by the cards they have. I enjoyed the time spent with my boys looking at the cards and enjoying the artwork and stories. It has brought back quite fond memories. I thought wouldn’t it be great to have some more! Aside from the time spent with son and grandson, I really did like Pokemon.

I did not realize that it had maintained its popularity, maybe even more so nowadays. I have been doing a lot of surfing, looking at the different sets and reading up on their popularity. Although there are a lot of great sets, I really like the originals (probably due to the fond memories thing…).

But of course, like any collectable, the older it is, the more valuable it becomes. So I think I will have to slowly work on obtaining cards from those sets.

I know very little on the more current sets, or how bundles, elite trainers or tins work. Although I am slowly catching on. I also know very little about rares, holos and other specialties work. So now I found my new research locale! I’m leaning to start my collection with either the 151 or Fusion Strike sets.

Anyways, enough rambling from an old man. I will read through prior posts on how to start my collection and the do’s and don’ts recommended by more experienced collectors.

Good evening to you all!

Welcome to the forum, if you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask:)

Here’s a quick guide from CGC on this, if you need help catching up on anything or understanding what’s going on, I’m sure someone here can help

Quick Tip: The market is a little weird right now, I’d try to stay away from to much social media and avoid getting caught in the market hype, collect/research what you like and ignore the other stuff
