Welcome, @DarkWolf ! Glad to have you here. I’m sure you’ll find this a helpful, knowledgeable, and most importantly, a positive community among all the chatter out there. It IS a lot to take in, with the different retail products and contents… and twice the cards per set as in the Wizards of the Coast (WotC) era. But there are ots of experts here to help filter and illuminate.
Cheers!
Welcome to the Elite Fourum, @Jcnova_11 ! We think there are awesome convos here too. Thanks for joining us!
Hello everyone!
I recently got back into the hobby after an 8-year break. Can’t say I picked the best time to return, but I’m really excited to be collecting again. I started about a month ago and have been focusing mostly on Japanese cards, originally because of the mark-up on English sets, but I’ve come to enjoy them just as much. There’s something about the artwork and the exclusives that really stood out to me.
Looking forward to learning more, meeting fellow collectors, and sharing the journey with all of you!
Welcome to the forum, as you said it’s not the best time to rejoin the hobby but, there is no other time like the present. I hope you enjoy the forum if you have a question or comment don’t be afraid to post:)
Thanks, I appreciate the warm welcome. I’ve actually been lurking for a while, just reading and learning but now that something came up, and I need to ask for help, I figured it was finally time to make an account.
Welcome @germr ! It’s great to have you here. I like Japanese cards too and they are much more affordable than other languages currently.
That is the one of the main reason I started buying JP booster boxes, but even those are increasing. Hoping that at some point, even if it’s 1–2 years down the line, things calm down for English sets. I remember going to my card shop 8 years ago and buying a booster box. Now there are none, or they are more expensive than buying from scalpers.
Hello all, UK collector here. Grew up playing Emerald so a big Gen 3 fan. Always lurked but never created a profile so thought I’d finally get round to it. Good to meet you all!
Welcome @germr! I’ve always loved vintage Japanese cards for their exclusivity and unique stories, but I have come to appreciate modern Japanese more and more as English sets have gone crazy! Haha l, looking forward to hearing more from you and I hope things calm down enough for you to enjoy all sides of the hobby soon!
Welcome @germr. Glad to have you here. The forum is a great place to learn more about collecting and all the possibilities. Enjoy!
Welcome @CinnabarCollectibles . Emerald may have been the last game I played. I’m a bit of a lurker at times myself . Glad that you came out of the shadows. Enjoy
Welcome @CinnabarCollectibles ! It’s great to have you here. I’m glad you made the move from lurking.
Thanks for the welcome @niece! It’s just peak Pokemon for me, can’t wait to play it with my 1 year old once he’s older
Warmest welcome to the forum @germr and @CinnabarCollectibles . Super lovely to have you both. This is a really awesome place to discuss everything about collecting Pokemon. Looking forward to getting to know you guys better, about your interests and your collections. Have a fun time interacting with everyone.
Cheers!
Welcome, and I hope you have a great time here with the Elite Fourum community. JP offers a great alternative, and even with access to Eng over the years, JP has been my favorite… largely for nostalgia. Anyway, glad to have you here, @germr !
Glad you stepped out of the shadows, @CinnabarCollectibles !
Gen 3 had some really good character and game elements to it. Not where I started, but one of my faves, and fond memories of it!
Welcome to the forum!
Hey Everyone !

Welcome to the forums @alphabeat and also in extension to your wife. You have come to the right place since all the lovely people can give you a lot of wonderful tips when starting to collect. This place is also filled with a lot of information you can browse but if you have something specific to start you can just ask away.
On the topic of slows, we already have an awesome member @slowqueen with a collection that you and your wife might love to see and also take inspiration from.
