We’ve gotten some excellent non-tcg resources lately (as well as some older ones worth mentioning) which i thought i’d post here, some might be worth it to link in first post too if @quuador has time and energy at some point
I do plan on updating the main post eventually, because it’s pretty outdated. But don’t expect it anywhere this year tbch…
I first want to prioritize posting my entire non-TCG Seviper collection, since that’s been long overdue… I just lack time lately due to other stuff, and it’s also kinda a chore sometimes, making it hard to feel motivation when I do find free time.
FWIW, all the pictures of the individual Seviper items are done (except for the almost endless stream of more incoming items of course ). All the product names - if they’re known to me - are added to those pictures. So all that’s left are taking all the measurements which I wanted to add, for which I’m about halfway through.
I won’t make a post as I did earlier with the Seviper plushies and figures (another one of those posts that’s outdated… ). Instead, I plan on making a to-the-point list similar to this thread, but then with added measurements to give some context on how big/small certain items are.
Ofc no pressure, time is very limited resource, just wanted to link those resources here since i like when multiple resources can be gathered as one and thought that some would deserve a place in op too at some point
Thanks so much for the links to my website ! I recently added the last main Amada Sticker set to the website, next I will be adding a few Meiji, and Amada promo sets + more pack images (and still figuring out a less time consuming scanning method)
I received this for my collection, added it to my Insta. It’s a sticker that was in a sausage package from 1995 made by the Nissui company. It’s so beautiful!
In other words, nothing came out in 1995. The games were delayed until Feb. ‘96, followed by Carddass in Sept, and “base” set in October. Licensed toys also started in ‘96 is my understanding.
Hey, I can confirm these are from 1999 on the box in my collection it mentions 1999-2000 on the back.
I do find it hilarious that these are sausage stickers
Found some information in an earlier post in the thread.
I didn’t know they came in foil versions. I have a Jumpluff one. Wonder if I should be looking for a foil version or if only specific ones come in foil
I used this forum and this thread extensively for researching my Starmie collection items. So thank you all very much for this great source of information!
I have two questions I could not answer tough (or I overlooked it). Could you help me identify this coin and this postcard please?
Hello, the pog is from Bandai jumbo carddass Chip Shooter 1 (japanese) and the postcard is from Editorial Navarrete (from Perú, although they were probably released in other latin american countries like mexico)
@Julius19: Thank you very much for the quick help!
@joponnes: This seems a nice idea, but at the moment I am still waiting for some items to arrive. I am also quite new to the hobby.
At some point next month I will send parts of my collection to grading. Cards and some stickers can be graded in Germany directly using Platin Grading Service. For other items I have to find a way to get them to PSA, Beckett or CGC etc. For now I don’t have any idea how to get for example coins or the postcard shown above to them or if they grade them at all.
My goal right now is to build a solid starting point for further collecting. I don’t want to maximize profit or grades but preserve my collectables and simply have fun expanding my collection in the future. In this process, it seems a fun idea to start a dedicated thread at some point.
It’s not that you should have a ready and massive collection to show, i and i’m sure a lot of others too here would love to see your current collection and the progress you make with it in future! It’s of course up to you when/if you feel comfortable showing your collection but i’m sure your collection certainly is ready to be shown already, it’s easy to get stuck in thought that you have to have more items or have more complete collection before showing it especially species collections always have something more to add so i think it’s quite common to put off showing them since there’s always the endless case of “just these items to get before making a collection thread”
Welcome to the forums @orannge . Super lovely to have you here and I hope you can find all of the info and clarifications to help you with your collection goals.
Also, I second the comment made by @joponnes that most of us here just enjoy the whole process of the collecting journey from fellow collectors. I can guarantee that most here are interested also in the stories, struggles and wins while reaching the collection goal. However, I can clearly relate the need to have everything complete (relatively) before posting it so it is still under your judgement.
If you have not already, you can also check out this thread to help grading specifically from Germany. The people who replied in that thread are helpful and knowledgeable with grading. I wish you success with the grading process.
@joponnes Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I think you’re quite right… I will start a thread soon and add some items over time. Right now, I’ve made a really good deal for grading and can send in lots of cards and stickers, so I should have some material to show in the coming weeks. Until then, I’ll just post some of the items I’ve already bought that are graded.
@mrbubbles It’s nice to receive such a warm welcome! In my youth, I was very active in many forums, but then social media “killed” much of the forum culture (at least it felt that way to me). I’m really happy to have found such a nice place to share some thoughts with like-minded people, even though I won’t have the time to be as active as I was in the past.
That said, I also really enjoy the act of collecting and building a collection on a solid foundation. What I mean is: I enjoy collecting much more if I already have some items to build on; it seems to take away the stress of “getting started.” It’s hard to express my thoughts in English.
I will definitely check out the thread you recommended. I could really use some advice for the future, especially on how to get some unusual items graded. (And I want to add this: The process of grading an item fills me with a certain kind of satisfaction that isn’t linked to the grade itself. It’s just the good feeling of having that particular item sealed and preserved. Do you know what I mean?)
