Looks cool! Is it 3D printed? It looks like it has some gloss to it too (maybe it’s the glow-in-the-dark paint?). Makes it easy to find your keys if you ever lose them at night :joy:

Thanks! I’m sure there’s more to see from others members here too. Just gotta keep sharing and bumping to increase visibility! :joy:

Here’s a fun one. Embroidered this Pikachu as my very first piece/test piece after learning just basic embroidery stitches. I wanted to try embroidering a full picture, so I jumped right in and stitched this guy. He still lives on on some random shirt I used for testing pieces and learning new stitches.

Look at that handsome chin!

Already made a post about them in my collection thread so keeping it short here: hama beads make some awesome pokemon art

Pokemon’s spritework is so good looking. I had to check which generation this was, and I’m surprised these were straight out of Red/Blue, where a lot of the sprites looked… unflattering, to say the least. Grimer’s and Muk’s sprites look great though. And the shades of purple were well picked too–makes them look like they’re glistening :star2: with ooze!

A piece I just finished, based on the Battle Styles Cheryl full art!

Looks great! Especially the blending of the greens in her hair and the trees. I like how bright it all feels too!

Would shadowboxes made out of cards be acceptable? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Yes, of course! Did you make it yourself? I like that the eyes and teeth are below the top layer, giving his face natural shadows to make it more menacing!

I’ve been thinking of trying out a shadowbox for a while but haven’t gotten around to it. I have a small pile of Magic cards sitting somewhere that I intended to use to practice cutting out shapes. I think Yu-Gi-Oh cards lend themselves well to really cool looking shadowboxes, given the amount of detail in things like armor and stuff. But it also means having a ton of tiny, tiny pieces

Heh, yes I made this! I also made a mew one for my wife. I do more digimon shadowboxes honestly but those are using printed replicas because I can’t bring myself to buy 8 copies of a $100 dollar card

Yes practice on cards you won’t baby, just to get a sense of what techniques or tricks you like to use. Then when you are confident try out the yugioh ones! The detailed cards look really cool as shadowboxes.

I don’t have any strong connection to Yu-Gi-Oh, but I just remember being blown away after watching a Youtube video of someone making a shadowbox of some highly detailed card. I imagine Digimon would be just as good, as Digimon designs also seem relatively detailed. I’ll stick to good ol’ Pokemon!

(Guess I can also practice on all the energy cards I have, since the card stock might be different from Magic)

Yea the details do pop, but for pokemon I think what helps is when you layer the background and foreground. Really makes up for the lesser details with depth instead!

I managed to do that with the mew I mentioned earlier!

Anyway a quick tip, get a nice sharp hobby craft knife (the blades are thinner) and also a black marker that can clean up the edges nicely. I used this vid to help me understand before I started. Good luck and have fun!

That Mew looks great too! I can see what you mean by utilizing the foreground/background to really give the finished piece depth. And thanks for the video you linked–it was a great primer! I’ll definitely get around to trying it out sometime :slightly_smiling_face:

The detail/number of strokes looks insane! Looks spot on too! How long did that take?
