The way that prices have been trending I am extremely thankful to have acquired 90% of my collection before the big spikes in prices but I am disappointed I missed out on the 1st edition Zard at the lower prices.
I know right. I’m constantly changing my goals but I try to complete everything I start. For example I’m a few cards away from finishing different types of cards. But now I’m back tracking for a wotc set i skipped which makes me happy anyways

Here is the set, “H” are the holos. The art is unique to this set, the set never made it to the US, and each trainer’s pokemon within the set are drawn by a different artist. Aya_Kusube, the artist who illustrated the trainer Lance’s pokemon, arguably has the best art within the set, yet none of those cards are holo (including the charizard). Holos within the set include the three legendary dogs, tyranitar(s), umbreon, steelix(s), and some other favorites.
I’m collecting a few things right now but I have set goals I go between when I see cards I need as for some it’s just a waiting game for sellers to be selling 10s despite the cards not being too rare.
Short term -
Finish my expedition base binder set
Finish ex TRR binder set
Finish shadowless base binder set
Mid term -
Finish my Japanese shiny Pokemon sets apart from a couple of cards so shinings, gold stars, DP shinies, BW UR shinings, GX ultra shiny and some promos.
Long term -
Finish my PSA graded 1st ed base set holos in 7+ and non holos in 9+. This is something I just pick up when nothing i need is available and I’m not overly bothered about it but it would be nice to one day finish.

Some sort of trophy card, ideally something from the Legend era or earlier.

To fill the gaps I’ve complete the Vending Series and now I’m doing a Neo Rev set. Also thinking of doing a Kusube artwork collection
I wanted to wait until my mail arrived today before I answered this question. I’ve achieved close to 99% of my collecting goals: Binder sets? Check. PSA cards? Check. Sealed product? Check. The only things left to get are honestly outside of my budget at this point. For example: I don’t own a 1st Ed Base Charizard in PSA 9. Sure, I could save for months on end, maybe even direct my annual bonus towards the purchase price but I know I wouldn’t feel good about that course of action. I’d be collecting for collecting’s sake.
Once I submit this current batch of cards to PSA, I feel like I won’t have much left to collect that I’m truly interested in. It’s just a strange feeling and I’m not quite sure how to process it.
It sounds like you’re at a point I’ve been trying to get to. At one point im trying to finish the majority of my collecting and move into buying doubles or graded versions of cards I already have in my binder. But as I keep going I keep adding more and more to my collection goals. If you finished Wotc for example have you tried any other eras you might like? What all have you completed? I’ve checked out your collection thread but I can’t remember everything off the top of my head

As far as PSA goes, I’ve got close to near complete or complete holo sets in PSA 9 of most of the WOTC era so 1st Ed Base - Skyridge. Any card that I’m missing in that range is a Pokemon I don’t love or can’t afford. I’ve also got a decent amount of sealed product. Sealed full pack artwork for Base - Gym Challenge. Neo - Skyridge packs are too expensive for me at this point. Sealed Theme Decks from the 2-Player Started Deck - Giovanni.
I have looked at other era’s and picked up a few cards that I like but the vast majority of post-WOTC cards don’t appeal to me
@lamplamp I definitely understand. After Wotc the art isn’t nearly as good in my opinion. But I still find fhings I like from every era. I’m sure if you look hard enough there has to be plenty of other cards you might like scattered thru different eras. But if your at the point where you really don’t want anymore you can just buy double for the future or just be content with what you have. It sounds like you completed a ton. I happen to have no sealed product that’s one thing I’d love myself but there’s thousands of different things I want in the hobby so I pick and choose as I go. I usually tend to collect by era and usually things I skipped I often go back for. Plus I still need Commons uncommons rares from every set that’s like a finishing touch at the end. Congratulations tho by the way for real! Thats quite a lot of accomplishments also there’s plenty of cheap $5-$30 cards that are beautiful to add to a binder collection. They dont all have to be big hitters graded
Currently still looking for a few more Unlimited Rage of the Broken Heavens (Japanese Breakpoint). I got a few coming over from Japan but damn have they been hard to get a hold of. Other than that, still hoping for a decent price to replace my 1st Edition Shining Gyarados and purchasing a New Year Promo card.
@azulryu I love Shining Gyarados! Ash is so scared on his little boat I will have to check out your collection if I haven’t already. Im a fan of Japanese cards but I don’t own any currently. There’s a ton of Japanese exclusives and promos I’m really looking forward to buying in the future
