Very true lol. I never knew an Ash, but I actually knew a Brock. Played Hockey with him. However my cards will be to a few real names since I’m helping out a few people from my college and my GF brother. The rest will just be signed to me.
Just adding in language from Overload site as it relates to personalizations for Orlando:
Personalization: Required to the name of the person receiving it. Generic personalizations such as Collector, Trainer, Ash, Red, or a character’s name will not be permitted. Staff have final discretion as to what qualifies as generic.
I am so happy for you guys to get the possibility for a signature I am hoping that somebody in Germany would also be able to organize something like this for the regionals in Bochum end of February
I looked on there twitter and they responded to someone that asked if it has to match ID and they said “Any non-generic name is fine!”. So hopefully that is true. It almost seems kind of conflicting with the information though from the website.
“The person receiving it” may not be the person standing in line. It could be their friend, neighbor, mom, etc. You can ask for any name so long as it is a name and not generic.
Regarding sketches, they will be at the artist’s discretion!
Waiting for panel slots to open be like:
Does the registration today include panel slots? I assumed it was just for the Regional events and spectator passes.
At the minimum you need the spectator pass to go which is what opens tonight EST. Since there is a finite amount it’s better to get it asap
For the panel, it’s a lottery so there is a more forgiving window of time to enter
The two are different things but you need the spectator pass to go to the panel (and the event generally). I’m not sure when the panel lottery begins
Alec will drop some info a little later I imagine on panel while he finalizes things
RK9 has posted the registration links for the Orlando Regional Championships!
Click the desired registration link on the right side of Orlando Pokémon Regional Championships 2022-2023 and place your order when they open tonight at 9PM EST
Demonstration Panel registration will open tonight at roughly the same time on the main Overload Events webpage! The forms close on Friday at 10PM EST, so there’s plenty of time.
Got my spectator pass! Now to figure out what cards I want to get signed…
Any advice on what to bring/what to expect as a spectator? I’ll probably bring extra sleeves and toploaders for anything I buy, but anything else?
Likewise! Getting excited for it. I have 5 cards in the mail and one in a slab I need to crack before arriving
I’ve never been to an official event either so I’m wondering the same thing; apart from sleeves/toploaders, I plan to also bring some of my other cards/slabs that I’m willing to trade/sell and see if anyone is interested in those just for fun. Maybe obvious, but bringing a credit card for all the stuff there, and as much as it pains me to say, make sure you bring a mask that complies with their policy. I live in Florida and the state itself has been pretty relaxed about masks but it would suck to spend all the time and money to get to the event only to get turned away at the door; not sure how strict they will be but much better to be prepared and not need it than the other way around.
I also think it would be fun to bring a card along to get signed by all the E4 folks there if you guys don’t mind giving me your Gem Mint autos
Edit Again, not sure if masks are strict or not, but I just ordered a pack of them on Amazon. I’m driving to the event so I’ll have spares with me if someone needs one
Demonstration panel entry form is now up! Will close Friday!
Anyone willing to sneak one of my cards in there? Willing to pay for a slot! Pm me if you’re interested. I’m not able to go to these events but just really want an auto in my collection!
just wanted to pop in for anyone who didn’t see… orlando is looking to be the biggest regional to date with currently over 1000 TCG AND 700 VGC players already signed up. absolutely insane. good luck navigating the space to everyone going and please try to catch some of the matches while you’re there. its literally one for the record books.
On one of the RK9 pages it says
ALL attendees must wear a surgical (non-cloth) or KN95 mask at this event. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own mask with them.
I’m thinking of bringing my trade binder along, but I only have like sub $5 cards so it’s probably not worth
Haha hey you never know! There are collectors within all markets
And I thought I saw something like that. I ordered a pack of 20 KN95s so like I said, I’ll have approved spares!
There was 1200+ TCG players in one of the smallest rooms ive seen for a US Regional in Arlington last month and it was fine. For the past two signing events, they’ve usually kept the queue/waiting areas decent separated from where the main bulk of the players hang out between games (closer to hive and stage).
Panel emails should be coming out! Just got mine, ended up with a Sunday panel slot
Anyone else get an email?!
