Your Predictions for the Pokemon 30th Anniversary

Lets see how close we can collectively get to things before any more stuff gets shown off. We already know that the english set logo will be a rehash of the 20th…again.

This is NOT a wish list, but a prediction list.

I’ll get the most obvious one out of the way

a rehash of the base set big 3, and probably base set pikachu. In what way? I don’t know!

Both a prediction and a wish list item: another Celebrations-style reprint set of influential cards in Pokemon TCG history.

Some form of 24k gold pikachu released in Japan through lottery, that is super expensive but even more so in future >.<

Abit more of a “I hope they will do it” kinda thing as well, for them to put some emphasis on the various regions (Europe, Asia etc) through exclusive events and releases. I believe this can have a positive impact to draw in a larger audience overall, and reduce the strain with all focusing on the Japanese Market/region. Pokemon had already stepped in that direction with exclusive events and Promos in Korea, China and Taiwan etc. This is great and I hope to see more in 2026.

Was going to say this as well.

Maybe just maybe we could have the gold stars artist do a bunch of new gold star art as special rarity like the gold stars but easier to pull and hey maybe full arts too !

one can hope :raising_hands:

Also please just release Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow to be playable on switch. People will buy it. No matter what price you put it as. Unfortunately lol

I know right? Its BARELY ever been done. They need to up those numbers. Hey! Maybe they’ll do 30 different version of base set charizard done by 30 different long term influential and beloved tcg artists including some now seemingly retired fan favorites(who as I mentioned elsewhere, a bunch of long term artists seemed to stop around 2019 by cruel fate of bad timing)…I guess this stopped being satire half way through, and a beleaguered prediction. I want off Mr.Bone’s Charizard’s Wild Ride.

This is the first anniversary since Horizons so something from Ash’s series would be nice and nostalgic.

I had to search this up but there’s barely any cards with Ash Ketchum in them, even less in English, and zero full art. Jesse, James and Meowth have 2 full arts so that’s a step up but I would greatly enjoy their presence in the annivesary as well.

The above is more of a wish list though. As for a prediction: I did notice that both YGO and Pokemon tend to bring out new and/or unique foil types around annivesaries so that’s one.

A smaller, reprint set like celebrations. Tho, I’ve heard of the smaller set size with Perfect Order…

There was the OG team rocket briefcase during 20th Anniversary, so you might be onto something about Ash. I can visualise something similar to the briefcase (some form of a case shaped like Ash’s hat?) with a Ash and Pika promo. Sounds pretty darn nostalgic and impactful to me .

A set where you can pull:

-full art Charizard base set, Neo genesis lugia and Play __`s Rayquaza ($$$)
-2 Gold Stars, 2 Shinings and 2 Vending (only 1 Masaki) with a horrifying stamp + confetti holo.
-commons will be a bunch of random neo and expedition bulk (stamped of course)

Bonus card: Gold star Maushold as cosmo holo promo

That has already been confirmed!!!

"To celebrate Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, a series of “First Partner Illustration Collections” will release throughout 2026, beginning with Series 1 on March 30th.

Series 1 will feature the Starter Pokemon from Kanto, Sinnoh, and Alola. Each collection will include a special promo booster pack containing three of nine Illustration Rare promo cards, two booster packs, and a sticker sheet.

Series 2 and 3 will release later in the year featuring the other six generations."

My own predictions though. Illustration rares of starters already checked off.

A UPC. One definitely which will tie in with whatever sub set they release and maybe another random one.
Mini Tins.
I think Japan will have some amazing Japanese exclusive promos/boxes that will be impossible to get in the EU or USA as I think all these releases with the current hype will be scalped to the moon. Any decent 30th anni exclusive promo/collection box I cant imagine it being sub 4 figures unfortunately.

I hope (and for the english set/sub set) they know how their franchise and demand has soared to new heights since Celebrations and this stuff is getting printed into the ground to the point anyone and everyone can get these exclusive items.. Unfortunately I have very little hope that will be the case for anyone who genuinely wants a piece of the 30th history in their collection.
