I think the community will suffer burnout and collapse into 90% shills. 3 expected to be great sets planned, already tough for normal fans to find product at msrp, prices on modern matching vintage, BGS failing (?) and thats all without even touching whatever else will be revealed during the year.

2025 will be an all time high not reached again in these categories:
Agree on the burnout. It’s been 5 years since the pandemic started. 2025 will be the year of massive set releases and banger cards, but it’s going to be overwhelming

I think by mid year economic conditions will pull the floor out from under everyone and the panic selling by people buying cards on credit debt will cause a massive drop in prices. Lots of newbies making lots of FOMO buys right now.
Team rocket set won’t be as exciting as people hype it up to be, and lots of the hypebois will trash it based on 3 reveals. Then it will drop, and those same people will say its the best set evar. In reality it will be a good set, but leave some people let down because it won’t have “dark” pokemon. I will cry due to lack of “light” pokemon, and be alone in this sadness.
THEN pokemon will come out of left field with a neo destiny throw back set and I’ll go OOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!! It will have light AND dark pokemon and maybe even shining pokemon? Everyone will do that meme of “I don’t want to play with you anymore” to the team rocket set in favor of the light and dark set. Then despite my love of neo destiny I’ll be sad and feel the need to stand up for the rocket set.
surging sparks will end up exactly like vivid voltage. However that might happen in 2026, don’t sue me. It took a long time before the VV etb and BB reprint. And to this day they are sitting and rotting on pokemon center’s website.
the transient “fans” will say the newer sets aren’t as exciting and good as previous sets because the prices on singles in sets won’t be $200+, but will make up excuses about why they suck when all they care about is if a card is expensive. Self delusion. Allowing money drive what they think is a “cool” card. Personally I still maintain PAF mew SIR isn’t great. But I love love love USO! Uso makes wonderful animations. The style is not meant for static art however.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Not being too serious here mind you. Lets see who comes up with a correct prediction.
Gen 10 will be announced and begin to showcase some of the new Pokemon coming. People will be so underwhelmed with the new designs that Poketubers will start speculating on whether or not it’s time to exit the hobby altogether. As a result, the start of the next bear market begins.
nah, they will reveal gen 10 in 2026 for the 30th aniversarry. imo. We will get pokemon ZA in 2025, and maybe another god awful insulting gen 5 “remake” that will make the gen 4 demakes look good in comparison. Otherwise you are %100 correct. Just off by a year. We will see in about 1 month on pokemon day. So your prediction will be found out to be true or false very quickly!
Yeah the timing could be wonky due to other projects, but I feel like we should be getting close to at least an announcement, even if it does release next year. Sun/Moon came out in 2016, SWSH in 2019, and SV in 2022. Seems like they’re working on a 3 year cycle.
yeah they could tease it, but I dunno, it would be a whole year before gen 10 anyhow. They do 1 game a year at least. and I think pokemon ZA is that game, but maybe they could do two. It should be interesting. Its a wonky timing imo. switch 2.0 should be coming out soon and it might be more awkward timing for pokemon. Just like how it was blatantly clear that they had to port sword and shield from a 3ds game to a switch game and thats part of why that game sucked so bad. Of course they just don’t have the talent needed to make good video games in the modern times. I’d love it if pokemon company just took the mainline games away from gamefreak and worked with nintendo to give it to someone like monolift soft or platinum games could be a good pick. Almost any other company really, just not whatever no name company it was which made the gen 4 remake letdowns. That was the biggest letdown, as gen 4 was one of my favorite and nostalgic times in pokemon. 
Should be exciting whatever the case for pokemon day this year. I don’t believe your prediction is right, but if it is, kudos, gold star for you!
What would be even crazier is if we get the Switch 2 announcement soon and a Pokemon title releasing at launch, I think Gen 10 over ZA would drum up even more sales, but I can see them releasing both Gen 10 and ZA on both systems, with the Switch 2 versions having better graphics or something. That way they could potentially sell two copies of the same game instead of one, when the system launches and people either can’t find a new console to buy or a group of people are holding off on the new console for different reasons.
Legends Arceus released in 2022, same as SV, so they can definitely pull off releasing both titles within about 11 months of each other. There’s just so much going on, and I also definitely agree with you that the games could definitely try to wow us more in the future. I could see us probably getting a slightly better version of what came before, respectively.

i was under the assumption that the game cartridges will be compatible, so a switch game should be playable on the new console. But I gave up following nintendo videogame news a couple years back. So maybe they’d only have to release on switch, however I recall the ZA game being pushed back to be on the new console. Its hard to know yet.
everything that happened when legend arceus came out did shake up the formula. It was pretty predictable for a while. So who knows what is going to happen next. I don’t think this year will be the biggest year for them. But I do think it will be a very interesting one. I think it will be rather unexpectedly good for a year before the 30th anniversary for sure.
Gen 10 will return to Japan based on the irl regions of Chugoku and Shikoku that connect Hoenn and Johto
Yeah, my understanding is that Switch 2 will be backwards compatible, which is why I think they would have to release some sort of stepped up version for Switch 2. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are developing Gen 10 for the Switch 2 first, and then figuring out how to make it run on the Switch. I could just imagine seeing the Switch 1 version having all kinds of performance problems. It reminds me of when Horizon 2 released for the PS5 and they released it on the PS4 at the same time. I bought the PS4 version and my little machine was working so hard I thought it was going to catch on fire.
With ZA I haven’t been following the news closely so I didn’t know it was planned only for Switch 2.

Im pretty bullish on pokemon this year tbh. With the way things have been going, i expect hype will continue to rise as we settle into the latter half of SV (where the real banger sets start coming out). This will run up throughout the year, leading into 30th anniversary where the market/ hype will peak and then go into another cool off/ retracement.
I cant personally see things crashing later this year, theres just too many positive indicators imo. I wouldnt be mad if things did slow down tho!
