XY9 Rage of the Broken Heavens!

Like collecting full sets, not even gonna touch BREAKthrough! Damn that was a mess, really hope this set will be alot better. Really like the look of M Gyarados EX, praying to god for FA versions of both Gyaras.

Fighting Spirit Belt – Trainer
Item
Pokemon Tool: Attach a Pokemon Tool to 1 of your Pokemon that doesn’t already have a Pokemon Tool attached to it.
The Basic Pokemon this card is attached to gets its max HP increased by 40 and its attacks do 10 more damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon.
You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

@fourthstartcg, thoughts on competitive use?

Because big basics totally needed more support.

Dunno how good fighting spirit belt will be really. At first glance it looks great. I still think muscle band outshines it though. While the belt will get you 50hp in your favour, 40 of that is from a defense standpoint, which isn’t fab. What makes muscle band so good is your opponent doesn’t have a chance to scrapper or megaphone it before it has at least one impact. This is why band is a $6 staple, while hard charm is essentially bulk.

Good card, not meta breaking. Definitely didn’t need to see more big basic support though.

This is going to be REALLY good. Of course it’s not needed and everything, big basics, blah blah, TCG sucks, etc., etc. But keep in mind that the set theme is EX vs. M EX vs. BREAKs, so this might be one of the cards that support EXs and we just haven’t seen the ones that support BREAKs and M EXs yet.

That being said, this is a very good tool. +40 HP is nothing to laugh at in itself, but then add in an extra 10 damage on top of that, and wow…Seismitoad, Giratina, and even Basic Manectric decks can benefit from this. It could be used as a tech in Night March to bump up the HP of a Joltik or a Pumpkaboo or something. Now your Toad has 220 HP, your Joltik has a chance of living an attack…it’s definitely good. Whether or not it replaces Muscle Band remains to be seen, but I think you could just as easily run 3 of these over 3 muscle band and just throw in a Giovanni’s Scheme if you really need the extra damage.

My son is going to love this one.

Greninja BREAK & Manaphy EX revealed (in extremely blurry fashion) for XY9!

The most forgettable Legendary of all time gets an EX before Suicune does.

@milhouse - Still waiting for Regice and Regirock to complete the Regi trio too…

After consoling @salmoncannon about Suicune getting rekt. I have thought about which Pokemon might fill the other 6 EX slots (iirc we are getting 11). So far we have Gyarados/M, Scizor/M, and Manaphy.

Medicham EX (Psychic)
M Medicham EX (Psychic)
Rotom EX (Electric)
Dugtrio EX (Fighting)
Breloom EX (Grass)
Granbull EX (Fairy)

I first thought an Arcanine EX, but I think they are going to save it for the inevitable Mega Arcanine we get from Pokemon Z or whatever the next game is.

Lazy and boring Manaphy art, looks really similar to Primal Clash. Keen for Dugtrio that would be cool!

Not exactly forgettable if you play competitive Pokemon battling …but agreed. Suicune should definitely be in this set though, because Entei was in XY7 and Raikou was in XY8.

On the topic of EX speculation, we will only have 2 Mega evolutions (Gyarados/Scizor) as per the English set info. I did a speculation video before anything was released for the set, and I’ve done pretty well if I don’t say so myself…I called Greninja BREAK and Scizor/M Scizor EX. But I didn’t think we’d get 11 EX cards, in addition to BREAKs.

I would personally like to see Ho-Oh EX be reprinted (they gave Lugia another, so why not Ho-Oh?) Besides that, I’m kinda indifferent to what EXs they print. It seems like all the good Pokemon (besides Suicune and a ton of Megas) already have some type of EX in the XY format. Hopefully they won’t continue the trend of reprinting EXs from the BW era (which I don’t really like) but their options are kinda limited…for example:

If Pokemon wants to print an EX card of a fully-evolved/legendary/non-mega Dragon type that has not had an EX or BREAK in the XY era, here are their options, with the last printing of that Pokemon:

-Kingdra (Holo in XY5)
-Goodra (Holo in XY7)
-Haxorus (Holo in XY8)
-Dragalge (R in XY2)
-Reshiram (Holo in XY6)
-Zekrom (Holo in XY6)

So, if this set has a Dragon type EX, it’ll be one of these six most likely. Taking out the ones that were literally just printed in the last 3 sets, we’re left with Kingdra or Dragalge. No way in hell Pokemon is printing a Dragalge EX, so, Kingdra is the most likely EX, which just had a Dragon-type holo four sets ago. Bleh.

Tl;dr/the point: EXs are getting bland and predictable

Damn. My tapatalk must be playing up. Still can’t see his post =(

Must be cos it’s literally 2 posts before yours, rather than the app I use the mobile version forum off an Internet browser on my phone and never have issues.

Oh yeah, this Frogadier is powerful! At first, use Water Clone. At second, evolve them into XY1 Greninjas. At third, use Water Shurikens (ability of Greninja), this is 120 dmg. At fourth, attach Muscle Band to active Greninga. At fifth, do 70 dmg(+120).
