In total I paid £160 ($217), though the only reason I wanted all 5 is because my fiancée collects Charmander, otherwise I would have just paid the $25 for the Pokémon Fan Club card.
I’m happy with the amount though because I had someone approach me a few months ago with a miscut Pikachu deck set asking $150 for just the Pokémon Fan Club card. No idea if they ended up selling any of theirs for anywhere near their asking price.
Well, I’ve managed to get some of my most coveted cards in the past month (I’ll share more in future posts). Since returning to the hobby and building up WOTC holo sets, one of my dreams was to get a PSA 10 WOTC holo Wigglytuff. My long term goal was/is to get a Base Set 2 copy (which is insanely rare, less than 10 exist) but I finally managed to get the right deal on a Jungle 1st Edition copy as I’m still building up the 1st Edition Jungle holo set as well. I might be in a minority of thought but I really feel the Jungle Wigglytuff is possibly underappreciated and Arita’s in-action artwork depiction is really nice looking to me. These colorless white cards just seem to be hard graders in general and really look amazing. Because of my chase for the Wigglytuff, it has become one of my favourite Pokemon cards from the WOTC/vintage era and I feel incredibly lucky to have finally obtained such a fine copy:
I wish I could like this post like 500 times! Wigglytuff, in general, feels very underappreciated. I love everything about this post! Congrats on the amazing card!
Thanks @kromaticlanturn, I definitely feel the same way. It’s easily become one of my favourite cards and definitely at the very top of my favourite Jungle cards.
Sourced a local collection and these are some of the highlights! After selling some stuff I should be able to break even and keep a lot of stuff. It’s cool that there’s a way even for us newer collectors to get good stuff if you’re willing to grind for it
As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve finally managed to pick up a few cards I’ve been after for a while. Aside from Alakazam and the big 3, I’ve always been a Clefairy fan from the Base Set issue. A tough grader and rare card for sure, I’m really happy to have acquired a 1st Edition 9 with a very clean holo:
