I like the SM163 art. I picked up the Japanese one from the Mimikyu box as well for the full card sparkles. The others were nice and easy to pick up quickly at a few dollars a card. I’m a software developer and need to practice interviewing for a job over the next couple of months. I started out looking for some kind of card to sit on my desk that was in some way connected to that. Poked around with ‘computer’ themed trainer cards too, but went with more of an imposter syndrome idea. Could have maybe gone with Ditto or something else, but the #198 Japanese/ SM163 art was something that seemed to have the right feel. I’m also more of a gen 1 childhood person so I suppose something that looks like Pikachu makes it easier for me to make the leap. For the display, it was also easier to pick a Pokemon that doesn’t have as many different cards.
Favorite from the video game was probably Mewtwo. Favorite for cards is shadowless/1st Charizard (unlimited always looked washed out to me). In 1999, when I traded for a 1st Charizard, it was that step that was the tipping point to decide to try and complete the 1st edition set. I’ve let go of most of those cards recently and have been creating new memories and figuring out some new goals.
Picked up some full art trainers for cheap! Also, really surprised at how affordable the Mew is. I wasn’t collecting when it came out, so maybe it was just mass produced. Also picked up the Mewtwo, just waiting on it to arrive.
a bunch of topps chrome including a spectra zard, sparkle blastoise and about 250 others. Also a Majestic Dawn Master Set. Make your money on the acquistions!
