Tracking EX Series Booster Box Prices

@pokemontcgcheese, I was contacted by others as well, so I’m posting this here to make the information public.

Yes, he’s a local seller from where I’m at, and even up until August/September, the box was available on our Mercari equivalent. He listed Sandstorm & Team Magma/Team Aqua at prices similar to what Zorloth has valued them, but I recall Deoxys standing out to me because I though 20,000 USD was very expensive (lol).

In my initial post, I mentioned that he tried to move the box 1-2 months ago. In his “Mercari-equivalent” page, I can’t find the box under sold so he probably removed the listing. I highly doubt he will relist it at 20k again, especially because this was before the LP hype and the growth that we’re seeing in base currently.

I will probably update this thread if it pops up, but there is a significant chance that I will just buy it from him the next time it does if the price is right. This is because it would be easier for him to deal locally, of course, and I didn’t have the funds previously. I also was not aware that ex deoxys was such a valuable sealed box.

Back to price discussion! I would not want to derail the thread any further(:

Yea i strongly advise that you grab that box if it pops up again. I have been getting offers for more than that about the last 4/5 months

I know that theres an unseen forces box up for sale and I was considering it for a bit, not sure if Ill go for it but still cool to see

I wish I was able to open a box and know what it feels like to pull a Gold Star Charizard. That’s never happening lol.

I have opened 4 boxes over the years (before I got back into collecting and had to buy a new one at 10x my previous box), only pulled a gold star mew from the first box. This is still my best pull ever

o i thought it was ex deoxys

I just noticed that the EX dragon box from Dave & Adam’s that was for 18k is gone from Ebay/their store (probably their store because it doesn’t show up under sold listings on Ebay); don’t know if it was necessarily bought at that price but maybe worth noting.

Fack. I was hoping it wouldn’t sell, they’d drop the price by 50%, and then I’d buy it lol. They likely didn’t sell it at asking price, but very little would shock me at this point.

I’m not going to update the estimate for it just yet, though. But thank you for letting us know! Hopefully the buyer comes forward at some point.

Hey I was thinking the same thing! If they had dropped it to 12k or so, I might have seriously considered jumping on it. I’m also really curious to know what it actually sold for.

FRLG box just sold for 10.5k usd on eBay - in the UK. This set still seems very undervalued to me.

One of the most common EX Series boxes, but an amazing set nonetheless. Interestingly, it seems to have also been the EX Series box that has increased the most over the course of the pandemic. I remember one sitting on eBay at $4k for quite a while back in January/February-ish.

I think the EV is actually pretty decent, though. From the few packs I’ve opened of it recently, the card quality is exceptional. Clean edges, immaculate holos. My (uneducated) guess is that at least 2/3rds of the reverse holos you pull would get PSA 10s (and there are tons of big reverse holos you can pull – 9 starters + Pikachu + tons more). Plus, even the popular non-holos are worth grading. Some of the non-holo commons/uncommons are $50+ in PSA 10. Oddly enough, the holos are pretty lackluster – the reverse holo slot might even be more valuable. And then you get 4 exs per box – one of which is a bird that is pretty much a lock for PSA 10. And if you get a Charizard ex and grade it a 10 (which isn’t all that difficult), you just paid for at least a third of the box.

So I do agree with you. And thank you for letting us know! I’ll update the original post.

Yes i saw the frlg sale! Along with a sandstorm box that sold for around $6.7k. The frlg box was the international variant, im not sure if there is a difference in price between that and u.s. version. Odd to see frlg go down a bit then sandstorm go up lmaoo

Yeah I was amazed by what sandstorm sold for, relative to FRLG. I believe no difference between the international and US variants but I’m not 100% on this.

I’m seeing $6.7k? But still a pretty damn good price for Sandstorm, which in solidly in the bottom 3 EX Series boxes. $7k might be the new floor for any boxes that aren’t Sandstorm, TMTA, or Hidden Legends lol.

Just edited my comment. $6.7k is correct lol

Yikes – so apparently PokeRev just sold out an EX Dragon Frontiers box at $650 a pack…which puts it at over $23k, which is a good bit higher than even the high end of my estimate. I’m not sure if this should count as a box sale. If anyone has strong feelings about whether it should or shouldn’t, let me know. As it stands, I’m leaning toward not counting this as a sale…but it kind of is? lol

Well shit lol. So I guess $23k is pretty spot-on. I’ll update the OP. I appreciate the heads-up.

For a break do they have to be opened live? Or can you buy for a pack art set?

He used to allow that, but they have to be opened live now. I still have some sealed packs from some of his early breaks. Starting with his FRLG break, he stopped allowing it, though :slightly_frowning_face:.
