THE Great Grading Results Thread

Update:

Ok, sub was a fluke, thankfully. Was worrying that I needed glasses or something lol. Had ~70 more cards finish up after that, and the grades were pretty normal. Most of it was non-holo junk to resell (like those Delta Species Dittos that randomly became super valuable), but got a handful of nice cards to keep, too:

There were, of course, a few disappointments. Luckily nothing too crazy. But one that I find really funny:

I opened this in the literal same pack as this Swampert:

Brutal lol

Beauts!!

Zorloth, you seem to be our resident CGC enthusiast, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on their grading standards vs the alternatives.

My view of CGC is more or less encapsulated by this (extremely famous) Churchill quote:

“Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…”

CGC is the worst grading company…except for all the others. Basically, CGC is deeply flawed, but no more so than the other options.

What I like the most about CGC is the plastic case itself. That part of the product is basically perfect. And that’s a really big deal for someone like me who enjoys looking at my cards very closely.

What I don’t like about CGC are the same things that I don’t like about other grading companies–namely that they’re just not very good at their job lol.

Basically, like other grading companies, they don’t have standards that they apply consistently or replicably. You have to buy the card, not the grade.

For both of those to get 8’s…that’s pretty brutal.
