Good luck! Long time no see
TLDR: 20:58 for all results
Took 3 SGC cards and graded at The National onsite Beckett, CGC and PSA. Not pokemon cards, but interesting to see how the grading companies compared.
So PSA is easily the toughest. I think we all knew that was true but nice to see it on video
Alright, my second all modern June order grades just popped. This was once again a submission I was not super stoked with, and expected a 30-40% PSA 10 rate. Also just like the last time though, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I hit a 60% 10 rate again! To make things even better, on high end cards I went 13/16 on getting 10’s!
Some highlights:
I went 2/3 on 151 Charizards
2/2 on 151 Venusaurs
And best of all 3/3 on PAF Mews. Definitely cashing in on these asap lol
First PSA Submission returns! Used SubCenter in the UK and everything went smoothly. Got a nice chunk of modern cards 9s and 10s, but most excited to see these Korean Base Set Unlimited cards come back!
Not sure if it was really worth it for most of the Korean commons/uncommons, but very happy overall, especially the nice surprise of a 10 on the Unlimited Banned Magmortar!
Gutted that my sunfaded Ninetails got rejected as altered, not really sure why but I guess its because of the red line where the foil from the deck packaging protected that bit from sun damage. Might try to resubmit to another company, any suggestions?
The highlight was definitely the PSA 9 Gyarados and Magikarp, very low pops for both and none higher than a 9!
IT’S ONCE AGAIN THAT TIME!!
This sub was just for fun. Nothing for the EN & JP Snorunt master set. This was sent to beat the most recent price increases.
A small circle of Species Collectors and I did a Secret Santa last year. I was graciously gifted this by my santa, @Fruit! Thankfully, one of the copies was really clean and I knew I wanted it in my Ceruledge collection.
Pokekyun is one of my favorite Pokémon sets just for the fact that all of the common cards have a unique heart holo. The only two languages that got both of these holos were Japanese and Korean. I’m looking forward to displaying these two on my desk
There was a printing mistake in VMAX Climax where at least one sheet was given the incorrect holo layer. It uses a mirror holo instead of a “line” holo. It’s one of the few errors that PSA actually recognizes. I would love to do a condition upgrade on this one day.
I’ve been very desperate to get the Chinese reverse holo Snorunts into my collection. I have a middleman in China who’s been buying every single copy he can get his hands on. He tells me when he buys a new Snorunt and I pay without hesitation. The holos on these cards are WRECKED and I am desperately hoping to complete all 3 of them in a PSA 10. I know there’s been discussions on what a grail is lately but this, for my collection, is a grail in gem mint condition. I would LOVE to have these in a PSA 10. For now, I think I need to temper my expectations and learn to be satisfied with getting 9s.
The grades were exactly what I was expecting. My pregrading is always exactly the same or better than what I expect. I probably won’t be sending anything to PSA until they fix their prices and turnaround times. I cancelled my membership for the time being. The promos pay for the membership but there’s no reason to be paying for it if I’m not using it.
Super Pissed that both of these got 6.5s, cracked the slabs and nothing was wrong with them, will be grading my personal collection with CGC
What grades were you expecting?
At a quick glance, this is very recognizable on the back of the card,
At least a 9, but I didnt see that. Other than that theres no problems, but It’s probably not getting a 10
2 6.5s is ridiculous though.
RIP in peace
Here’s some regrading schadenfreude for all of you:
Not pictured: two PSA 8 Neo 1st Ed. Meganiums that got CGC 8.5 and 8, respectively. And a PSA 8.5 Aquapolis Tentacruel that got a CGC 9.
Worth noting that these were all strong examples of their previous grades (hence why I regraded them). None of these were damaged when I cracked them out, nor do any of them appear to have been damaged in grading.
Also gave some mint cards 6s and 6.5s, and some heavily played cards 8.5s. The new CGC intern definitely knows his stuff! We all have much to learn.
CGC got called the easy grader one too many times, and now we all must pay the price of our hubris
Not the og label latios!!!
The Rayquaza must be perfect condition if it still looks mint to PSA after they graded 2 modern cards lol
It has the classic whitening in one of the top corners but that was the only thing I saw on it. What is even crazier is that I bought it raw in 2017 and it sat in my binder until now and is still in that good condition.
Glad to read of a good experience as thinking of using them soon
Love this card
