Congrats on your first submission and on your grades! You’re off to a great start. Hopefully, PSA didn’t upcharge too much. They slaughtered me with upcharges on my first submission.

Probably the harshest sub I’ve had but the stuff that I wanted to hit a 10 hit a 10 so I’m happy overall. I look forward to seeing the slabs to see if I missed something or if they’re worth a resub.

Got my first CGC submission results back. I’ll give my review for anyone who cares 
These were all submitted as bulk which took from 7/25 to 8/18. Imo that’s very very solid. I’m a fan of the new slab a lot, so much so that if it was this way before I’d have done my main eseries goal in CGC instead of BGS.
Here are the highlights of my sub
All the cards were raw, none crossed or anything so I can’t speak to that aspect of grading. I know some people would be irritated by the half grades but to me it’s cool since I never keep 10s due to (imo) the unjustified premium that any 10 receives and now I get to keep these 3 for my “whales of hoenn” collection.
I think the grades are pretty fair, of the 35 cards I sent in I considered most to be mint and most got the flat 9. Only 6 got 9.5 and only one got a 10 which was probably the cleanest one (Scyther from jungle). I did get some 8s and lower but I expected that on all the cards that received it and was just sending them in for encapsulation more than the grade.
I’m going to use CGC a lot more often. I don’t exactly believe that these new 9.5 will command massive premiums as some people are suggesting, but imo it is nice to have a tier for “strong 9”. I realize not everyone feels that way which is fine, but for me I just may collect my favorite gen 3 gold stars in the new 9.5 due to the quality/price point ratio that they have atm.
Overall if you haven’t tried CGC I think now is a great time to start, and if you stopped in the past it may be worth another shot. It was fun for me to grade stuff for my PC again which I haven’t done in a long time.

Got back my first phone card submission today. Super happy with the grades 23 PSA 10 and 4 PSA 9. Seems I need to send in a few more Hirizontal Mewtwo Strikes Back cards as they both came back 9s. I made sure to send in only the best quality cards, but I wonder how they would grade some of the used/damaged ones I have. They are a bit small for the case so PSA uses a sleeve, but they can still move around a little. Overall, I’m pretty happy with them and glad I waited for PSA to start grading them instead of sending to BGS.

I don’t have any solid evidence of this beyond my own anecdotes but it seems like it is more difficult to get a CGC 10 Gem Mint than it was to get a 9.5. Even though they are still grading the same way in theory it seems like they are more hesitant to give it 10 if something blatantly sticks out. A lot of the real bad 10s I have seen were ones scaled up from the old 9.5
This makes me wonder if we will have a similar situation to old cert PSA where over time people won’t want to spend much on Gem Mints with a cert number going back to a certain point. Due to them possibly being upgraded.
For those that followed my “crushing” journey of realization how fucked these masaki promos are, I got back my final submission for this card. Im so in the hole from grading fees and purchase price LOL
Bought as an 8.5 thinking id get an 8 at psa only to get a 6 and then resub to cgc for a 7. Anyways at least i got a 7. Time to sell and recoup my losses.
No more crossgrading hard vintage promos like these anymore for me!

I’ve actually been there. And also with vintage cards that BGS clearly over graded that had dents. Only for me to crack without noticing first.

The start of a new goal I’m pursuing! Also the delta species ones are all pop 1 which is neat to have them all together.
