Out of curiosity, were all of these vintage / EX-era Japanese?
I think I should have been a bit clearer, I actually didn’t get any 8s in the submission, I had 3 8s upgraded to 9s!
@Dyl Not all were EX era Japanese, it was a mix of stuff, but all Japanese. 4 upgrades to 10s were E-Series holos, 5 were EX Era holos/ex cards, 3 were DP era cards, and 3 were BW/XY EX full arts.

Thanks for providing all this data. I ran some statistical analysis and I think the findings are pretty clear.
The more times you re-submit a card, the higher the grade gets. So, for anyone that owns any cards that are not PSA 10s - the best path forward to maximizing your investment is to resubmit until that error is corrected.

I will eventually crack and send all my 8s in. Few aren’t strong enough for a 9 but majority just need a 2nd look.
My one 9 in my latest submission is getting re-submitted in the hopes that a 2nd look will give it the 10.

Got another PSA return, this one from December 2022. Has my favorite Houndoom artwork, of all time. Video below
BGS 9 = CGC 9 = PSA 10 confirmed?!
Between all those terrible 8’s and 9’s on my Skyridge submission I also got these.
Top 3 card have a binder dent and grading on the others is what it should be.
Still upset about the Skyridge while unpacking them this morning.

This was one of the most brutal submissions I’ve had in a while, was confident in all the eeveelution premium collections to get 10’s, and the ex holos to all be 8+.

What causes a drop from 10 to 5?

Any indent/bend on the card drops it to a PSA 6, not sure how some went further down to PSA 5, I have a hard time believing that I missed this kind of damage for 5 out of the 6 eeveelution cards 
When you get them back, look at the sides of the card where they were held by the plastic. I opened a few cases of the premium collections and had multiple instances where the card was held so tightly that the sides were essentially dented in because of it.
10 months ago I bought my first PSA slab from ebay.
And now I’m posting in this thread… well, it escalated quickly!
I did my first PSA submission through a friend last December.
And I’ve received my cards back a few days ago.
Pretty stoked about the grades. Top row holos (even though they don’t look holos in my picture) are coming from the same Mercari lot and are going straight to my collection!
I missed a surface defect on the back of the Sceptile, it’s my bad. Very happy about the Zangoose, coming from a random lot from ebay.
I guess centering was the issue with the Cramorant, but I’m still happy.
I’ll definitely submit more in the future!

Awesome stuff!! That first return feeling is incredible, and tends to get you hooked. 10s on the Feraligatr and Zangoose are so cool!! Love the variety overall in your submission as well.

First tiny, baby step (more like 1/10 of a toenail in the water) in grading/liquidating my collection to help pay for a second degree.
Sent in $25 tier, I wanted to get the Gengar/Mimis in because of recent price trends, and I included the JPN BW EX with them on a whim. All cards graded exactly as I expected.
