I watched and bid on 6 other Probstein123 listings this evening for PSA 10 black star promos. All but one had their same shill bid account upping the prices. I stopped bidding and let their 104 feedback account win both PSA 10 Computer Error cards. I’m sure they will be relisted tomorrow. Is this a common issue with this consignment seller??
They’re all ~50$ or so cards too, so I find it surprising that they’re trying to nickel and dime these low dollar cards even.
Yeah that’s a crazy part that I feel like people don’t talk about as much. There’s a post on here documenting some of these cards (I think the 3 were Champ League, Platinum, and Key) and all the winners photographed on screen were literal children. This definitely also applies to older trophy cards. The likelihood that these cards remain in mint or gem mint condition isn’t that great. I know when we were kids we manhandled the shit out of our cards and I doubt that we would have done anything different with the trophies. I feel like for the most part the only trophies that hit the market are likely by savvy people (possibly parents) who had that foresight of keeping it as a keepsake. It’s possible that many that remain ungraded are beat up and forgotten. I don’t know if this makes sense but that’s what I think.
Miracle, it may have just been a photo of the Juniors age division winners. Not *every* winner is a kid haha.
Yeah but you know what I mean. I think the breakdown for the Platinum was something like half of the winners were in the youngest age group. I don’t think it’s insignificant.
Careful with probstein123. Would stay away with a 10-foot pole. He’s a notorious scammer and shill bidder. Google if you want some good reads

I have bought many things from them over the past ~7 years and have never had a problem with them. Granted I have not bought anything recently but I have only had good experiences.
Echoing this. Probstein123 is a consignment auction house similar to PWCC. Googling their name now and in the past when this has come up on e4 brings up many boards with many comments similar to @jonandek 's above. What you need to know though (and what reasonable posters brought up in many of those threads) is that consignees or other bad actors are often to blame for shilling on Probstein123 and all across eBay in general. I see it on my own auctions on occasion from people who want to manipulate prices. We see it lately occasionally with PWCC having to remove bids as well.
I highly doubt an auction house that large is going out risking their name and reputation to bump cards prices up 10-20-50% or whatever you think so that they can grab an additional 5-10% of that as commission. The risk:reward is nowhere near there and the time it would take dealing with items they win themselves just make it a super unlikely scenario. Sure, some little guys on eBay do it not realizing the long term detriment it has to them and the hobby overall, but these large businesses I would say do not at all.

The seller of the Charmander has sold an Articuno and Gyarados in the past too, interesting. It’s nice seeing a well shot example the contrast of Charmander really pops, we are too used to seeing the faded rush shots of our lord Pkonno (forgive my blasphemy).

Damn they just keep coming, have we ever seen trophy/prize cards appear on auction and for sale as consistently as this year? Literally every month we’re seeing a slew of them. Kinda cool to see.

Never loose hope, we did see the Dpt-p Cresselia/Darkrai after so long and also an actual old back No. 1 Girl Trainer even though it is the no name copy. Not to mention the e-series girl trainer set. Didn’t think I’d ever see those
Seriously? I didn’t know DPT-P Cresselia/Darkrai and an e-series girl trainer set appeared. That’s phenomenal, we’re literally seeing everything this year. Let’s not also forget about the scramble cards too. Personally I feel like Pkonno and his buddies probably have extra copies of all the Snap cards and just holding them back. I’d imagine they’d be in no rush to sell with how much money they’re making. Better for them long term to reveal and sell cards slowly, especially if they have a decent amount of copies for each card.
