Agree on the birds in the background, these would be cool. Since the art for Dwebble and Hoothoot are so similar in concept, I wonder if kawayoo and Tsutsui both got the same guidelines like “draw the main pokemon on the right looking ouf of a hole and a legendary bird flying in the background” or if they just happened to be similar.

They all come from the same japanese set, SM10b Sky legends, so the “a bird in the background”-part is definitely intentional. The “on the right looking out of a hole”-part may be coincidental, the Fukuda Ekans is on the left looking up from the ground. I didn’t include that one because I don’t think it would look good, strong concept but the Articuno is unattractive.

Nishida. The reverse holo is my second favourite card ever. First one is the Vending Machine one from Aya.
It is a shame that both Metapods arent based in Ken’s original artwork, but the anime.

I think hoenn had an over representation of great dragon Pokemon to the point where altaria does not get attention. I always thought swablun and altaria were great Pokemon in the games and they have some awesome tcg appearances too

They’ve received an above average amount of great cards. I’m still iffy about Swablu but Altaria has grown on me. Probably had something to do with the great Mega which made it useful for once. Cool design also.
As a kid I used to hate how it’s a Dragon type. Kingdra, sure, it’s in the name. Flygon, fine, doesn’t look like an insect anymore. Even Vibrava I could deal with, but this blue bird cloud thingy? Does not compute! Before we got sharks, a sheep, a dog and sushi.

It must be extremely hard to manage type matchups and balance between all the competitive Pokemon nowadays. But I wouldn’t mind gamefreak going back to rework a few Pokemons typing.

Yeah, little balance these days. There’s so much they could do better if they went back to the drawing board. Psychic on the ducks is high priority, we would’ve probably got that in Gen 1 if it weren’t for the Slows and Starmie.

Those placing first were given 30 sleeves; those placing second were given 20 sleeves; and those placing third were given 10 sleeves.
So it would seem it was pretty exclusive.
