@brendantheclayboy absolutely stunning!!! Never seen this before? Where’s it from/where can I buy it?
So there’s this thing from a few years ago, called the my151 campaign, done through the Pokemon Center. It involved distributing stickers and the like, celebrating Kanto and Johto. As mthursty pointed out, it was only produced on a postcard. There were 6 I believe (Ooyama did one). And this one is Komiya’s. They did it to celebrate the campaign. I think it may have culminated in a illustrator contribution by the pros. But the info I have found seems to be pretty limited, @muk . I see Saitou and Arita did one.
It seems the Pokemon Center and everywhere else doesn’t have them. I too will be looking to grab one. Should be around $20-30, since an ebay seller has the Gengar available right now for that price. I also see the Ooyama Lickitung.
I know isn’t it the most amazing thing ever!? In awe of it!
@brendantheclayboy awesome buddy, thank you! Definitely a must-have for me now that I know of its existence!
I actually have the my251 Girafarig sticker on the way to me from Japan haha
Why is all of the best art contained in commons and uncommons now? There are alternate arts which look great don’t get me wrong, but I feel like the chase cards have been (in general) getting worse and worse, while the commons have been getting better and better. Is there a reason why pokemon isn’t allowing people such as sowsow and komiya to draw ultra rares? The only unique chase cards I can think since the XY era have been the tag team cards and recent alternate arts (where they allowed unique artists to have free reign). Whenever im looking at a new set, I am always blown away by the random wurmples and eevees, but the v maxs look like we are back in the dark ages of the 5ban graphics monopoly.
Gotta love how they did multiple generations with these type of things. I also have a my386 Zangoose Seviper sticker which I bought mid last year. Nothing as fancy as that Porygon postcard, though.
Greetz,
Quuador
If they did postcards like that with foil and some kind of complimentary framing, it’s possible I would be a postcard collector rather than a card collector.

Found the link to the site. This has some really wholesome info about each artist and why they chose to draw the things they drew. Collecting this set of postcards would be really cool. I only have 4 or 5 of them right now. (or less, I may have given one away for Christmas)
@mthursty thank you for this! Are the quotes by the artists? A few of them reference playing the games when they were kids; I just assumed that all the main illustrators were adults.
Thank so much, @mthursty ! Komiya’s quote (google translated):
So awesome. Great to learn about this. Man, does Pory have some great significance and love from these Poke-greats. Love it.
But of course this couldn’t have been Komiya referring to himself, because he wasn’t in elementary when Red was released!
Edit: I got it. He is referring to the little girl in the illustration! That must be it.

Like @brendantheclayboy mentioned many of these artists were drawing some of the first pokemon when it came out, rather than in elementary school. I would assume the task was to make up a story real or fake and draw it!
I think all the art and stories are spectacular!

Lol! This makes much more sense😭. I was so confused… the picture of Komiya I have in my head was vanishing before my eyes (or behind my eyes, I guess)
There is probably enough info here to create a new thread dedicated to this campaign between the stickers postcards and anything else. But I was able to find this Korean blog that says each story was submitted by players and chosen at lottery to be drawn!

Wow…I’m voting this thread as the best one on E4…I’m getting nostalgic over art I never knew existed!
Generally not a big fan of Komiya but that’s easily one of his best illustrations!
So, of course, I bought the Arita one, but I have to say of all the illus. for this postcard set, komiya’s has the most spirit to it. Really, is the biggest statement of all of them. Great post! And thanks to @mthursty above for sharing the link to the PkMn Center page.
Also decided to throw together a potential alt-art mock-up of that Komiya card - the Unbroken Bonds Porygon. This way, anyone who likes to limit things to stuff in a binder can make a proxy of this for themselves. (But also, just buy the damn original if you can.) I wasn’t sure how much of the art to include, but I felt that because of the artist’s intent, I couldn’t crop out the child and her joy at receiving the prize. That is also the reason I collect porygon cards today.
Speaking of Komiya, the 4 seasons Farfetch’d:
I think it’s about time for a komiya binder
