Not sure if intentional but the tamato berry also reduces the speed stat which seems pretty apropos for a Slowbro
@pkmnflyingmaster Great pickup. I used a bunch of tamato berries literally yesterday and did not clock that at all.
I’ve really been digging Koike recently, especially the Skyridge Steelix. The style is so… brutalist? The 3D models are jagged and grotesque. The light source always seems to be behind the Pokémon so we are seeing mostly black/shadow facing us. I just think this style looks so cool.
VMAX Climax is phenomenal. I know it’s been said, but this set has some of the best art I’ve seen. I had a blast opening my first box, pulled this beauty:
Rekuzza fans have been really spoiled lately! Dang!
I love drawing some of the art from the cards! Sometimes can’t help myself, it’s really fun and nice to appreciate the art and
I only appreciate the illustrators more and I’m sure they had an excellent experience making it themselves too.
(Boltund V with colored pencils from the VMAX Climax set, illustrated by GIDORA, who has illustrated 3 cards and just started with VMAX Climax. Can’t wait to see more!)
That looks so good! I thought it was a komiya at first!
Ariados is such a badass Pokemon…so underrated…and also, awesome artwork! I mean, wow!
Minccino card in Star Birth, really like this art style!
Edit: I knew this art style looked familiar, the Shinx from Start Deck 100 is similar:
S9 Star Birth commons/uncommons/rares could write their own illustrator magazine
There’s really something to be said about the simplicity of values in this illustration: light (gray), dark (black), and the neutral background (red). So simple and effective! It’s just all 2D shapes and little gradation in between. Like you said, grotesque and jagged, which gives the pokemon and the picture so much character
Komiya, Komiya. You are my hero.
Seriously? Why can’t I have this as a card? Why?! I NEED this spiritual successor to Imakuni’s Fan Porygon. Just as beautiful! I will pray to the gods for this as a release. I will pay whatever it takes.
This is my favorite Pokemon Postcard
