The Giant Art Thread

I love it - used to play the most fun decks with Alolan Marowak (both of them) in PTCG. Good times.

That looks great! I find I more and more prefer seeing collections by artist rather than specific Pokemon - I find the quality is just so much more consistent if you enjoy that style of artwork.

Although I do specifically aim for Japanese; when i’m appreciating the artwork, somehow the Japanese is more aesthetically appealing, especially for the newer artists who I don’t have any nostalgia for in English cards. Plus some promos never seem to end up here, so a few Japanese would likely always be needed!

Yeah sometimes the border of the Japanese cards looks better too…sometimes the yellow just isn’t what you want. The aim is to have them all in Japanese and English (and maybe the reverse holos too) xx

Also, I am a huge fan of Miki Tanaka artwork. Check her Instagram here and Twitter here - she shares quite cool stories about some of the illustrations; she made some iconic cards!

Although I do like those cards she made for the PokƩmon VS set, she did make some of the laziest artworks imo, haha. That Slowpoke is one example, although I still really like that one and have some nostalgic memories of it (pulling two of them from a single Legendary Collection pack for example).

But this Magnemite with solid background takes the cake as laziest artwork in the TCG imho:

And thanks for her social media links. Too bad she hasn’t made any Pikachu nor Seviper cards, otherwise I would have send her a message.

I understand that - maybe how I feel about 5ban nowadays. But she did a lot, if not all, her work by hand, and I really love her pastel colour combinations - actually stuff I would put on my wall. For me, she’s the Andy Warhol of PTCG with the most vibrant colour palette (e.g. the Totodile)

Me too!!! I also preorered the special box with the Sobble and Milotic cards. They are also pieces of art to my eyes. I also will order the 144/s-p card too with the pokemon center logo on it.

Can’t wait to receive them!

Picture of the 144/s-p to see the difference between this one and the special box card.

I spent last night going through the promos that have been released so far for this generation. Quite a few stood out to me, went on a buying spree.

Hypno has overall really nice artwork or at least very interesting holo patterns (see: Fossil Hypno background or Dark Hypno background)

Also now we know who’s the biggest stalker in Pokemon.

@dizzle24 would agree with you, considering he recently bought one himself and kept mentioning this card on Discord yesterday.

Definitely a great looking card, although I like this one slightly more personally:

Both are pretty cool, though.

Haha oh i would agree for sure!!! But, ive had this card for a while now haha, wasnt a recent buy . When else are you going to see all the gen 2 legendaries in one single card!?

Its def my fav of them all, and that other is nice too but to me it just has way too much going on, so its hard to make out all the gen 2 goodness there haha. Still underrated cards for sure
