At a closer look, the background does appear to be textured continuously with the gold borders. Poor photo resolution and lack of direct lighting on the blue surface makes it harder to see

Is the Nyan Demo a wordplay for なんでも nandemo? Or does it just look like this in romaji?
I believe so, this author’s thoughts article suggests they want to create a retro game world for this cat protagonist (i.e. curious children reading this) to explore just about anywhere/anything
