Playing GSC when they first came out, I never thought of them as beasts or dogs, just legendary roamers

Also I’m realizing a big factor in the confusion is the fact that they have no ears.

In terms of the design they are more cat like than dog, especially raikou, and with the interview quote above I’ve always been triggered when people call them the Legendary dogs lol. I just call them the Legendary Beasts.

I called them The Legendary Dogs in a YouTube video and got absolutely wrecked in the comments. They are based on cats, but “beasts” officially.

And listen, I’m a cat guy. I’m all about cats! But I grew up calling them dogs, and it’s hard to lose that habit.

But I remember this playground debate when GS came out. I think the consensus was beasts because there was one dog (entei), one cat (raikou), and one something else (suicune), and that’s just stuck with me since childhood. I realized later on entei could be a lion but the damage was done.

I also saw online somewhere an argument that suicune was a deer with its antler-diamond-head-crest

There was some weird fan theory about what the legendary dogs were prior to being burnt. I can’t remember what they were but they might have been standard eeveelutions. Are eeveelutions cars or dogs?!
