Sirius the Dog Star. The Dog Days of summer. Whatever it is, the end of summer is coming, but it got me thinking, which pokedog is your favorite? This is inspired by the “positive energy” series. But I’m putting an animal spin on it with over 1000 pokemon we have whole categories now. Scarlet and Violet added actually quite a few dog pokemon. So, make your case for best dog, and share your favorite IRL dog if you want too. I know the favorites of some forum members here.

Best Houndoom card and it’s not even close. Also agreed, it’s Arcanine or Doom. Honorable mention to Herdier though, I love the terrier look for a more domestic styled Pokémon. Stoutland misses the mark a little bit but it’s still alright.
What a fantastic thread and choices shown thus far; even if for the second time today (insert two nickel meme) I’d have to select the top dog amongst many favorites!
As for dog Pokemon itself, I’d go with Arcanine and the HGSS base set holo to represent it. The majesty and poise “Arcy” conveys is unparalleled imho.
However, this TRR Houndour reminds me the most of my old Labrador, whilst not necessarily laying by a fireplace, was always such an amazing watchdog and companion.
Definitely these two for me. Best doggos to save a whole region!
Legendaries aside I’d say definitely houndoom and arcanine as well, especially mega houndoom and how sick of a design it has! Wish arcanine got a mega form too Rockruff is also another great one since it’s literally the goodest of boys in the anime
