Holding out for a cheaper option really depends on who you are and what you want to grade. If its stuff for your own PC then sure it makes complete sense to hold out. If you are a business that needs to move product and slabs are part of your bread and butter, then yes subbing at $15 makes sense. Many people thought we would have a cheaper special by now, there’s no telling how long the wait will be before we actually see one.
I saw several photos in 2021/2022 of people’s card stacks waiting to get graded, 100s of cards deep. I am guessing most of those were sent in when PSA dropped prices to $30, $18, $15, etc. I don’t see much more of a personal backlog of cards being sent in at $15 for too long.
I highly expect a $12 special in the next 4 months. Who has cards left to send in at $15 at this point? You would have done that during the last special.

Just an update but I mailed a 20 card $19 order two days ago, and they reached out to me this morning (!) and said I could adjust to the $15 tier from my submission page since they haven’t received it yet.
However the $15 limit is $199, whereas the $19 limit is $499 – so 11 of my cards would have to be removed and then re-added with a… slightly lower limit. Seems like they don’t upcharge very often on these, but I’d rather not upset the grading gods by futzing with the order too much. I’ll take the $80 hit I guess

Update: my december $15 special is still missing. Optimistic that theyll be found. Anyone have experience with large chunks of submissions going missing?

Same for me, I have hundreds of (vintage) reverses (uncommons/commons) I don’t want to send in on $15. But I would love to try getting complete reverse graded sets (psa 9 is fine)
My whole collection is for 80% still ungraded and I do have some “left overs” also waiting to be graded.
I looked at my binders this afternoon and even the holo’s Wotc I am in doubt if I will send them in now.
I am in Europe so after grading fees and shipping there is VAT (21% and import tax around 4%) to be paid. So my slab are already 25% more expensive because of this.
So each lower tier to send them in is welcome.

Looks like they extended the current special until 3/31. Not annoying at all, its not like i rushed to get a last second sub together or anything lol.

PSA has been pretty with lax with enforcing the thresholds. I’ve recently had a PSA 10 UNL Holo Fossil Gengar, PSA 10 Japanese Base Blastoise, and 2 PSA 8 Base Charizards go through without any upcharges.
If you think a boom can’t happen again you are gravely mistaken and it’s dumb to short a growing hobby
