PSA $15 Bulk TCG Special

Depends on what kind of value the card has after grading. I can think of a lot of great modern cards which are cheap af and likely wouldn’t be more than $30-40 PSA 10s. Things like CHRs, radiant Pokemon, ETB promos etc.

If you’re a business or a collector it really doesn’t make sense to pay $15 per card on that stuff, but it’s certainly submittable in that people probably want to build collections off those cards and they are viable as high volume, small margin sales for businesses.

Personally I have a ton of cards saved up like CP6 holos, BW Holos and EX, DP holos, DP non-holo rares, etc that I don’t really think is worth it for me to submit at $15, but I’d jump at $10-12 for that stuff.

The following cards are not worth submitting at $15 unless you are positive you are getting a PSA 10, which you can obviously never be positive of:

  • 1st Edition Base non-holos
  • Shadowless non-holos
  • Many Unlimited WOTC holos
  • Japanese Vending

I’d say those cards are worth submitting, and there are plenty of more examples.

They have now been hovering between 15 and 20 for a while. Why do people insist they will drop to 10 to 12? Its just wishful thinking. Its pretty clear theyre happy where theyre at

A while? It’s been a few months lol. They will absolutely drop down to 10-12 at some point, whether if it’s a special or a completely new tier. People said $15 was wishful thinking last year, too. Heck, during 2021, there was a prevailing thought that PSA might not get below $50 ever again.

They have gone between 15 and 20 a few times. So idk why you expect it to drop down. All evidence suggests that they are finding some balance between the 15 and 20 range. I dont see much to suggest that they will drop it

I think the fact that they are getting through the $15 specials in a month is pretty substantial evidence that they are going to have to drop prices pretty soon. There are only so many cards in the $15 submission pool and the first waves have already been submitted through the past specials. It’s pretty clear that if they don’t want to waste their recent CapEx that they will be forced to increase the volume they are taking on.

Is a month bulk too fast? That seems reasonable to me. It wasnt much faster than that pre 2020 and the market has changed so much i dont think tcgs will wver be the same

Sure, but that assumes a constant amount of cards flowing at $15. I would guess that the number submitted will fall and then I would assume their business isn’t being fully utilized. Maybe I am wrong and everyone at PSA is useful when turnaround times are 2 weeks, but I doubt it.

People seem to be flipping out on ig and such with this announcement just like last time. I think theyll get a lot like last time

Personally, there isn’t a whole lot that I’d submit at $12 that I wouldnt submit at $15.

Yea, I could be wrong and maybe the replacement rate of cards to submit at $15 is above/equal to the submission rate in which case they might just stick with it. I would be skeptical of that though, especially if card prices fall even more.

I’m in the same boat, I guess it more matters to the big boys who are sending 2k cards. But the cost difference for my 20 is $60. Is that worth waiting 6 more months on the possibility it drops slightly? I’m certainly not butt hurt I sent a ton in at $18 for them to then do $15 specials. Same difference.

They have gone between 15 and 20 a few times since what, October? It has been a few months. That’s hardly a while, and I don’t see how that’s much evidence to suggest it’s going to stay static. If anything, the fact that they clearly aren’t getting backlogged is more evidence that they will open up a lower tier at some point.

Again, there are still tons of very viable cards that aren’t really gradable at $15. PSA surely knows this and knows that opening a lower tier would create more business for them. And in order to prevent themselves from getting potentially flooded, they can make a really low value cap (like $99 or $149 or something like that) and strictly enforce it.

A lower number is coming, even if it’s just a two-week special. It’s only a matter of time.

That $3 difference is a significant difference for businesses operating on high volume. That right there is basically the cost of shipping. But obviously if you’re submitting a small amount of cards, it won’t matter too much.

I personally do believe <$15 usd is coming, idk when, but eventually. I have a ton of modern cards i really want graded and if i could save $5 usd per card on a 50 card submission even, thats a ton of money. Especially after conversion, its like $330 CAD in savings. Scale that to 100 cards or higher? It absolutely makes sense why someone would prefer to submit at a lower price per card. It is bulk tier after all

I only started grading last year. What were bulk turn around times like pre-2020 boom?

When I started grading in late 2018 it was ~60 business days
