Official Nintendo Promo Cards

Hello, everyone! I posted my Lugia in this chat a few months ago. Wanted to give an update — I graded mine at CGC!

The togepi we didn’t know existed, and the Elekid we thought we’d seen somewhere.

This is my current collection of these General Mills X Nintendo Pokemon Rolls Promos since I found those Gen 2 on eBay recently.

I doubt my collection will be changing much, as I believe I am only missing Ho-oh, Hoot Hoot, and Ledyba. But I believe it to be one of them more complete of this collections that exist, thanks to my recent grabs of the Gen 2.

11 gen2 cards seems odd. Definitely might have pokemon like snubbull or marill but thats speculation to get the number to 12 which seems like a better number to end at. Unless the sheets were like the tcg, 11x11.

Amazing collection though. Awesome to see so many together.

Hello all. Super helpful. Just bought a random collection of sports cards and found these. I am not super experienced in Pokémon so went to the internet.

Any suggestions for next steps? Grade w SGC? Sell raw? Thanks for all the help within this thread!

Huh, these actually have value? I’ve got a NM Lugia somewhere in the collection, now to find it…

@Charmeleonaire might be interested in one of those ho-oh cards. And about price, these are not common but dont have much demand either. There is no established price, just what the highest a collector might be willing to pay :man_shrugging:

Only one I could find recently was a Lugia went for 40 on eBay. There were a couple others a while back that went for like 15 each

Yeah $40 would be good enough for me, I thought it was junk just an hour ago!

Maybe I’ll list it for $200 and link to this thread in the description to show that someone bought one for $300

@Kritch4dayz I am most definitely interested in one of those Ho-oh for the collection. Thanks for looking out @Julius19 .

Nice to see some more Gen 2 coming out of the woodwork.

Pricing these is difficult because the lack of previous sales. Gen 2 is clearly more scarce, but how much is difficult to know. This thread seems to be the definitive source of info.

I’m a buyer until I have a complete set, because you know, gotta catch 'em all.

Probably gunna post on eBay to gauge interest. What would you be willing to pay for one of the Ho-ohs?

The most I’ve paid for one of these promos is $13 after shipping. The average I’ve paid is probably closer to $5 per, since I purchased majority of my Gen 1 in a lot $25 lot, aside from the few from my childhood.

$15-$20 is what I had in mind. These are rare, but also have very little awareness. If someone were to bid yours up I’d might go higher since I really want one of each.

Im glad I was in the same price estimate. Niche items are hard to price but there are only a few people who would care enough and there are definitely more than a few out there, hidden in collections.

Yeah, admittedly, these are very hard to price out. I personally think they are super cool and personally nostalgic, but to many these could be viewed as a gimmicky fruit snack promo.

If PSA and Beckett decided to grade these with a proper rename to include Nintendo, and maybe they had any light outside of this forum they could be worth more, but who knows if and when that happens.

No hate towards our friend who bought the mint Lugia for $300, which is definitely now the ceiling. But before this thread you could get mint Gen 1’s for $5. You are definitely only buying this right now if you are simply a collector or the longest term speculator ever, because I think it will take some time before these see their day monetarily.

As for me, I came back and turns out I still have an admiration for all things old Pokemon, Japanese and English. If it’s 151/pre-NEO then I it’s my jam. When I found these guys in my collection and couldn’t find more info, I knew what I had to do given the '98 copyright.

Hey all, just wanted to share my recent grading experience. Sent to SGC and they graded it without issue.

That’s super awesome for a couple reasons. First, congrats on being the first Ho-oh graded.

Secondly, and more importantly to the legacy of these cards, you have the first graded cards of a new name. If we look at the Bulbasaur that was SGC graded by @MamaBeats on April 18th, the labeling is ‘Pokemon Rolls Promo’ and ‘Nintendo’.

On february 27th, I wrote, “That solves that mystery for sure. So, in short, these are the ‘Betty Crocker x Nintendo Pokemon Rolls Promos’.”

Now you’re newly graded Ho-oh has “Betty Crocker X Nintendo”.

You, intentionally or not (do tell), had SGC update the name of this promo. This should set a precedence for the other companies naming for these promos to update, eventually.

Did you suggest this name on submission, or did SGC take it upon themselves and presumably find this thread?

I also should update the main post and credit you for the new official name

I submitted with the addition from this group but thought SGC had Betty Crocker x Nintendo but maybe not. The others are just authenticated and only have the “Nintendo”… I think I will submit the other two that I have and see what happens from there. Thanks for your help and support! I’ll keep you all posted.

Hey all. Are there still any questions about these sticker cards? Back when it came out in 1998 I got the fruit snacks with pokemon cards. It was base set pikachu, charmander, bulbasaur, squirtle, and the chase gold meowth. The non chase cards were exactly the same as what you could get out of a booster pack. No marks, no stamps, no promo symbol. Then sometime either late 1998 or early 1999, the first round of sticker cards came out. After that came the neo promo in late 1999 or 2000. As for a mewtwo sticker card I do not think such exists. And it seemed like to me the legendary birds were as easy to pull as hoothoot or bellossom. I got at least 3 ho-oh. I have my original collections somewhere, but just today unboxed some spares - they are all sticker cards from series 1 [gen 1]. If I can help with any other info please let me know.

Do you think you locate any Gen 2 in your collection and list what you have. Specifically, are there any more than shown in this thread?

One thing that has been consistent over monitoring this promo’s market is that Gen 2 is significantly rarer than Gen 1. We still may not know all the Gen 2 set. As for the Gen 1/151, we can say there is pretty much nothing unknown as you can find an entire set on eBay for sale.
