Mystery of the Entei, Suicune and Raikou Goldstars

i cant believe he has so many  and lets be honest if we had a folder full of shadowless 1st edition charizards i dont knwo if i would be able to show that baby off but everything else is relivent to me apart from the following crashing the market and forcing other sellers to raise there prices

Since the last post is of the 22nd of December, I hope I am not necro’ing this post.

I have done some research myself on the legendary dogs (starting from this thread). I also buy cards that are missing from my collection on pokemonmarket.eu. I looked for the goldstar legendary dogs and found out he is on there as well (https://en.pokemoncardmarket.eu/Users/Cardhouse-eu). Seems like he is pretty new there as he has not sold anything yet. Currently he is offering 5 of every legendary dog for 38 euro’s each. For all the Europeans out here: be aware of this guy as well. Seem like fair prices, but I simply refuse to buy from this guy. I’d rather wait and buy the cards from legitimate sellers for a higher price than him.

EDIT: this it solely to inform Europeans (and anyone else buying on there) to keep an eye out for this seller while buying on other mediums as well.

Be aware yourself that if you buy from “legitimate sellers for a higher price than him”, you are possibly just buying from people who bought from him to re sell for profit. Due to the sheer volume of cards he has it is very likely many cards not bought directly from him are still from that hoard and have a highly suspect past.

Also, the post was from December 2015, not 2016 so it is quite old, but I think updating an old thread with relevant information is always welcomed, though sometimes they do get locked for necro post even when on topic, so I am not entirely sure on that.

Post is fine as it’s adding relevant information to a thread, i.e. that this scumbag is also selling on a separate European-specific site.

I would like to note that the simple existence of the horde means all of the Legendary Dog gold stars are worth much less. And this guy will keep underselling everyone and PSA grading his to get the maximum profit. He has thousands of them so its not like its a temporary price drop.

that makes it a little more interesting

If this holds true then this is excellent news, it’s nice to see such a large tcg seller combine a business decision with trying to help the hobby.

I’m sure the decision would have been 100% business on their end, hard to say if it really would help the hobby or not as damage has already been done to those with “legitimate” pack pulled copies. All the hobby will get out of it is having to pay increased prices for cards that should be worth a lot less than they still sell for. I would hazard a guess that most out there for sale currently raw or graded came from this hoard. It is shocking to me how much the cards still garner in PSA 9 and 10 with what the populations of them are and also knowing what the population could be with this hoard out there.

I take a different view, sad to see such a major seller complicit in something so obviously shady.

I agree with you. I don’t think for a second they are attempting to help with the hobby. He probably couldn’t unload them anymore, he contacted (or they contacted him) to buy in bulk. Cheap cards for T&T to resell, cash for cardhouse guy who wouldn’t otherwise see it. Most of us know the cards are out there, so artificially shorting the market won’t do much. The value should still the same regardless of how slowly they roll them out. Its a win/win for T&T & cardhouse guy, but won’t change much on the collecting end.

To add to this, he contacted multiple larger sellers in the hobby during the gold star bubble. When he made his rounds to me, he tried offloading them for “a clean €100,000”. I love how he said “clean”, when he was literally selling stolen goods. The best is when he dropped this gem, “for all we know the value of unseen forces gold stars could double in 3 years”… Well here we are, about 3 years later, and they are a third of their value from 2014.

I don’t think you can put the genie back in the bottle with this situation. The fact these cards left the factory is the problem. Sure it is better they are with a business rather than the epitome of a flipper. However, the pop report is already bloated. Anyone with any knowledge of the situation doesn’t even look at these cards anymore. The guy single handedly ruined the English gold star dogs. It is such a shame this situation occurred.

Lol €100,000 for 5000 gold stars @ €20 each how generous

In a way this helps me out in the whole 1-10 collection but still upsets me since it will be much easier to do it now since the market for Entei Gold Star English is a lot cheaper which is why I been going mainly for the Japanese ones instead.

Crazy tho on how much were made and how he just pretty much stole them all and sold almost all of his copies. At the end he made the most out of it. Selling it to top buyers and others. He didn’t lose any dollar. Which upsets me more. Since most of you guys do this for a living and spend the good half of your money to be able to flip the cards for 50 dollars more and loooking at the market each week to see where everything is at.

I vaguely remember that Entei, Suicune, and Raikou Gold-Star scam when that scumbag first started bragging about how he controlled the market on those cards and all that. I don’t follow the market on these “newer” cards; so I quickly forgot about the whole issue until I came across these threads again.

I am sure this will sound completely lame and cheesy; but I’ll put it out there anyway in response…

Sure, that person got his moment of “fame” within the Pokemon Community. And Unfortunately, he probably made a good chunk of change doing-so in the process. However, he single-handily destroyed the market on those cards and destroyed his reputation in the process. Not only that, but on a philosophical level, he has to live with that for the rest of his life - he knows what he did was wrong, he knows that he stole money from every single person who purchased those cards - karma is a bitch and it will catch-up to him eventually.

Now, in more “business terms”, coming from someone who buys and sells on eBay for pure enjoyment… Sure, making a profit on eBay (or whatever platform you use) is AWESOME! There is such a thrill in purchasing something for “X” and doubling, tripling… your initial investment! Although, aside from the excitement and profit, what do you learn from that? NOTHING!

Personally, I have purchased many collections over the years where I SCORED BIG (as I am sure many of us have). On the flip-side of that, I have purchased many collections over the years where I LOST HUGE (again, as I’m sure many of us have). Heck, last month I purchased 3,000 Pokemon Stickers because it was a “good deal”. Wouldn’t you know, I haven’t sold a single sticker yet (not one) LOL

You don’t learn anything from your successes (or very little). It’s from your failures where you actually learn and are able to take-away from. I cannot re-call every success I have had on eBay; however, I can re-call nearly every failure that I have had on eBay! With every failure, I learn more about my business and better buying practices (like not to purchase five lots of stickers) LOL

Sure, this scumbag has / had a “successful” eBay Business. But how long will he be able to maintain that business if he has only had successes without any failures? What is going to happen to his “business” when he is unable to steal cards? How long will he be able to run his “business” when he actually has to make legitimate purchases? NOT LONG AT ALL!

he probably doesnt run a business.
hes probably just a guy with a job who sold a ton of dogs for a ton of cash and doesn’t lose a winks sleep over it.

Of course some of you may actually know the guy and know better.

The only positive thing about the ordeal is he only made a small percentage of what he could have by ruining the market before even beginning to exploit it by posting that stupid video.

He never told me directly, but from my understanding he paid around $20-25k for the whole lot. I belive that
included his cost to fly, stay etc. I’m pretty sure he has broke even on the thing now.

I’ve stopped talking to him awhile back because he just started doing more and more shit. It’s not surprising, but it’s
disappointing.

I remember the whole legendary dog GS market crash, I didn’t even know that much and was just looking for good deals on PSA at the time, but the large quantity available out of nowhere was a red flag for me, even though it was only a few hundred that I knew of at the time.

I also remember seeing the troll and toad stock increase decently and price drop at some point, and assumed they had purchased a decent quantity. I’ve heard of some crazy things (such as a kid in my local league getting 4 dragon frontiers pre release deck boxes from the league leader) in pokemon about rare items, but if we estimate a booster box retails at $100 at this time period, I remember packs were like $3 and some cents (but I was 6 years old… so not completely sure) and 1 gold star in 3 booster boxes, then he has the GS of $1.5 million worth of packs, which is absurd.

Does anyone else have concerns over the english gold stars in other sets around unseen forces, such as delta species, ex deoxys (that would be really unfortunate), or ex legend maker, that maybe someone has a giant stash of these?

@garyis2000 has warned about gold stars in the past. No specifics, but it sounds like there could possibly be more illegitimate hoards out there possibly? No idea really.

And even if there were more large lots of specific gold stars the owners would be smart enough to show&release them in small batches to prevent similar situation in 2014 with Unseen Forces stars.

I wouldn’t be too worried about such scenario.
