As I was organizing the proofs for the final arrangement, I realized there’s a few that were never actually shared here. So here’s a missing proofs edition, 1 of 2:
This is by Sergey Glushakov, who did Lickitung also. It was one of 2 proofs that got sent to me, then, because I wasn’t home to sign, it got sent all the way back to Germany and took 2 trips to get here!
Love that we saw some process photos for that raichu already, and the kitnap is just a thing of beauty and very well executed, i first thought it was just a zigzagoon card before watching more closely
This cool diptych is by Solomon Au-Yeung, who did some of the art for MTG’s rare Portal Three Kingdoms set. He also does generally amazing watercolors, def give him a follow.
Lastly, while not MTG, I was able to get some cool signatures from Sumiyoshi Kizuki. I also showed her this art that I previously made for the E4 art contest, and she liked it!
Lovely additions! The Rhyhorn is an absolute highlight for me. A beast of burden interpretation is very solid. I also like the Anime Team Rocket connecting card.
Congratulations on your personal signed from Kizuki. The card choices and signatures are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and also taking us along on a wonderful journey through all your updates this year. This has been a wonderful thread to follow.
Echoing others, that rhyhorn made me gasp aloud, the style combined with the size of it side by side to a human is an impressive and humbling sight! And the idea of splitting that meowth on two cards is a nice idea and works very well. Also have to say how nice the small crystals and stick figures matching the artwork that Kizuki draw are!
I have not! Though my agent Stefano was just there too. I actually met him in Tokyo earlier this week. Thanks for the praise, hope you can visit the US sometime and see some artists here.
Yes Stefano was there and he made an amazing job with all the artist, Rebecca Guay was there too and was incredible to see how many people were in line for signatures!
As a bit of a Christmas gift, here is some high res scans of most of the cards in the 151. There were a few pages where I missed the Magic side of the card, so hopefully I can do that after I get home. I’ll also link this to the first post.
I know this isn’t the first Mewtwo I have, but thematically I just thought it worked well. In MTG lore, Urza performed horrific cloning experiments in order to come up with a cure to defeat Phyrexia and Yawgmoth. It’s totally conceivable that he could’ve created Mewtwo in the Pokemon universe.
Well, til next time. I’m planning to make a longer Youtube series about some of these cards too, so keep an eye for it in February
Mewtwo is brilliant and such a great callback to the MTG lore and what the card is also named. Really awesome. The Statler and Wyrdeer is am amazing depiction as well but I think my favorite is the Pichu just because how goofy it is.
