Still no updates.

I once had a $10,000 package sent via FedEx go missing for 2 weeks before it was found. No origin scan or anything. Myself and the buyer thought for sure that the FedEx driver who picked it up took it. At the time was also foolish enough to not insure the package as well. Lessons like this are usually learned the hard way. After this incident you will probably always insure high value shipments. I am sure it will show up.

@pichufan

Regarding the $1,000 insurance limit. Recently I sent off a package valued at mid 5 figures. The cost was approximately $500. How is it legal for a company to charge additional moneys to insure these packages if they will not actually insure them? That seems like grounds for a class action lawsuit. When sending via FedEx domestically, on their website, they do not ask what is being mailed, they only ask for declared value. Additionally, how is it that PWCC can insure packages in the 6/7 figure range at a discount if only 1k will actually be covered? Not drilling you in particular but would love for anyone here to opine/comment on this. This is super concerning as I use FedEx for all of my high value items.

Best of luck man… Horrible situation. How the hell does a courier lose a 35 lb box?

I hope everything works out for you man

This must be an absolute nightmare you must be facing…

@cardstockpile I’m sure when you pay for your label you check a box saying you agree to their terms and conditions that you likely never read stating the limitations of the insurance. That’d be on you if a loss ever came up and they decided not to cover it you should probably look into that but you may have been paying for nothing all this time. Good thing you didn’t have a loss I guess.

PWCC uses a third party or maybe even self insurance so what Fedex limits are don’t apply to their offering.

Was yours overnighted as well? That’s what doesn’t make sense to me is how an express shipment is THIS behind. Still trying to hope for the best.

Man, this looks like a nightmare; so sorry you’re going through this.

I wouldn’t normally be a “hey I can relate” guy, but in the hopes it can bring you some solace: I’ve experienced numerous egregious issues with every major carrier over the past year, and they’ve pretty much all resolved themselves eventually. I’ve had USPS Express packages take over a week, Priority packages take like a month, FedEx international stuff stuck in a warehouse for two months… the works. Even though COVID is on the downturn in many developed countries, the mail is still all fucked up. Hang in there, keep bothering them, and I’ll say a prayer that everything works out.

I can’t answer all of this as I’m not in the US, but I can say that:

  1. FedEx make it quite clear in their terms that they themselves do not provide insurance of any kind. The additional cost is simply for them to help cover themselves if the package does end up being lost or damaged - whilst this may sound like the definition of insurance anyway they do appear to be explicitly distancing themselves from that word.
  2. In the UK I don’t know of a single domestic shipping service which doesn’t ask for the contents of the package at the same time as asking for the declared value. The only instances I can find where a description of the package’s contents isn’t required is where declared value also isn’t provided.

Wishing the best for you, pal. This situation is my worst nightmare and also the very reason why I haven’t submitted my collection to the PWCC Vault yet. I’m not in the US, so they won’t give me their insured labels too…

I was looking for info in this exact scenario as I’m from EU. I guess either fly there or yolo.

I have also gone thru all kinds of delays and problems, they are bound to happen when you ship daily but they all eventually resolved themselves even after weeks of silence and tracking not moving. Stay strong @mewtuw!

It was a two day international shipment from the US to Canada. Very stressful man I feel your pain.

Reading all these posts I know one thing for sure. If & when I ship valued items, I’m going to include a disposable GPS tracker in the box. It might cost a little but it will give some trackability that is under my control.

Could be their own third party insurance

I really, really hope that your package is found. Nobody deserves to live through this sort of stress.

Good luck, my thoughts are with you. This has been my nightmare fuel for as long as I can remember. But I know many people with stories about this kind of stuff just randomly appearing. A friend’s package, albeit small, was lost for 8 months. He had given up completely, then found it on a shelf in the corner of his apartment building’s entrance with a sticky note for the address and no packing. It was a sealed booster box… weird things happen and I feel confident yours will make it through. I’ll keep checking up in hopes of a quick recovery!

Best of luck. I learned the hard lesson of the value of insuring when several expensive tracked packages simply disappeared and I had to eat the loss and refund the buyers. I hope they find it soon - looks like an amazing collection. My stuff, while expensive, was worth a small fraction of what you shipped.

In the mean time, keep an eye out for potential listings of your cards on eBay/Mercari. Who knows? Maybe someone saw the PWCC address at the warehouse and decided to nick it for reselling …

Ok this is a cool idea. Where do you buy these disposable trackers? Have you used them successfully in the past?

I second that! What?! That sounds incredibly useful!

This piqued my curiosity and I checked it out. Apparently, there are GPS trackers on Amazon (of course, why wouldn’t Amazon sell this too -.-). They appear to be a subscription based product like signing up for a data plan. Small price to pay I suppose…

Still no updates on tracking. Losing faith.
