FedEx Shipping - Possible Lost PWCC Vault Shipment

But you need insurance for healthcare, soooooo…

Doing my best to will this through for you, bud, and hoping that by Fri the package will move and all your stress will lift.

After what Lee Steinfeld went through, I’m confident this will turn up.

Any communication or process involving an attorney will add several days to weeks to the time frame. A few (even several) days of patience now will save everyone headache, and the attorney may not be worth it if I’m understanding the value correctly.

FedEx only pay out a maximum of $1,000 for collectibles. You need third-party insurance if you want anything higher than that for Pokémon cards. I use UPS when shipping out items worth more than that, though they themselves only pay out $2,500 maximum if you’re not a business customer.

Well, still no update on the whereabouts of this package. Uhhh. It’s a 34 pound package & a fairly large box so I wouldn’t think they could “lose” it but who knows. Pain.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. Trying to keep it off my mind since it’s essentially out of my control.

Good luck getting your package back/found. Must be terribly nerve wracking.

I personally don’t understand sending it without insurance or why you didn’t even fly with it in person (which would have been my first choice at this value if I’m ever lucky enough to have that problem). But I hope it makes it there safe and well.

Trust me… I don’t know what went through my mind either. The package was packed & ready to go prior to me taking a vacation so I wanted to get it out of my house & PWCC was taking awhile generating my label. Should’ve obviously been more patient. But, didn’t think FedEx Express Overnight would be this inefficient. Only can blame myself though.

not many people know this but with a fedex account you can easily declare up to 50k when you print a label

See www.fedex.com/content/dam/fedex/us-united-states/services/Service_Guide_2021.pdf page 143 sections A and F:

It doesn’t matter if you declare a Pokémon package at $1,001 or $50,000 the maximum FedEx will pay out is $1,000 if they deem it to be a “collector’s item” - which they almost certainly will.

They never ask me to declare more than the value, never ask what it is so if its lost then it goes to the declared value I imagine

That is why alot of companies have third party insurance

So in general when sending to PWCC Vault, they send an extra label( for a insurance cost) and with that label its 100% secured even when the sum is as high as in your case?
Do i have to imagine something like a extra sticker on the postage that give this extra security?
Not exactly sure how it look like or works, would be cool to understand
Can someone explain it? never saw it or used that Service.

The Liabilities not assumed section on page 192 documents the following:

This basically means that if you haven’t accurately described what it is you’re shipping FedEx will not pay out anything. Ultimately you’d just be playing with fire at this point. If they do pay out and later discover the package to find that its contents are not as described I imagine you’d be in a whole load of legal trouble.

All I’m trying to say here is that if you do send items valued above $1,000 with FedEx make sure you have third-party insurance to cover that amount as FedEx will not pay out anything more than that.

PWCC can provide a Fedex overnight label insured up to $1MM.

There is nothing on the package that identifies it as insured since it is a third party insurance. Insurance is a pretty easy game. You take the historical rate of loss and multiply that by the value of the package. That becomes the expected loss. A premium is charged to that as insurance is a profitable endeavor for those selling it. Same goes for cars, houses, life, anything you insure.

E.g. Pulling a random number let’s say 1/1,000 Fedex overnight packages are lost/damaged/destroyed to where a total payout would be required. If you are looking at a $300k package the expected loss on that package would be $300 ($300k*1/1000). Assuming a 50% net margin on their insurance premiums they’d charge $600 for that insurance, 50% of which is profit and 50% of which goes into a large pool of the thousands of transactions they handle to pay out when inevitably 1/1,000 of them need to be paid out. It is likely that at the highest end the premium is higher for more risk as if you do 50,000 overnight packages and get unlucky on a couple $1MM ones going missing then you’d be in rough shape if your average package value was only a couple grand.

OP can’t even get the proper staff on the phone and keeps getting the run around to help him find a missing package that seems to be somewhere in their own building… Imagine the nightmare of calling customer service and telling them they owe you $50k in insurance money for a package of collectibles that was only insured through FedEx lol

For anyone wondering too… no @qwachansey didn’t dox himself with the return address there. It is a default return address PWCC return labels will have (I asked them about it).

I’d assume it is just something they have interest in for their insurance if for whatever reason a package becomes undeliverable they want it to go somewhere in return that they control as well as opposed to back to you possibly being left on a porch or whatever. Given PWCC’s size they may likely self insure all packages up to the $1MM they offer labels for and if you needed something in excess of that they likely pay for a policy on that. General good advice when it comes to insurance. Self insure where you can afford and pay someone else where a loss would make you lose sleep/not be able to eat.

Just got off the phone. Still no answers as to what is happening. Their holding facility did report they did not find a package matching the contents of mine. So, either someone stole what was inside & said nothing was found or it is truly mixed in somewhere within that warehouse by mistake. What a fucking nightmare.

I hope everything is sorted out asap. I’ve been having problems with fedex too and my card is worth like 100$ and I’m getting bit annoyed so I cant even imagine how you are feeling.
