I’m a bit out of the loop but just seen this vid from rattle. I assume GG lost cards? Is the company still going or has it closed?
im by no means an expert on this topic, but from what i am aware of, GG is done. I believe Connor said that their relationship with PSA kinda went bad, but he said he is legally not allowed to discuss the details. So, beyond returning the rest of the cards, they are no longer operating. Also, yea, they lost their February 2021 submissions. I’ve heard some different numbers thrown around of like $100K worth of cards, but the exact numbers im not sure. Connor released a like 30 minute video regarding the situation a few days ago on the gradedgem account, you should check it out
didn’t psa remove a bunch of the middlemen who were working with competitors? that’s why other middlemen are rebranding because the real reason is psa removed anyone working with the competition.
Could one even rap battle Rattle? You’d have to hire Rattle to dig up dirt on himself since everything is air tight. You’d basically be making a hype song in place of a dis track
I think this Rattle video is really wide of the mark. I think what he did for LP situation was good. It wasn’t opinionated and focused on facts. I don’t think GG/Connor are bad guys, I think they’ve handled a bad situation badly. I don’t think there is any malice in their actions and whilst I do think things could have been handled differently, it’s very easy to look back on things with hindsight.
Personally, I think the attacks on Connor, the beatboxing stuff, the looking at the camera, you’re kind of stooping low for content at that point. Connor is fairly respected in the community and he’s working on getting peoples cards back from a venture that by all accounts didn’t end the way he, or customers wanted it too.
Am I defending GG, not really, they’ve made their own bed. But this kind of content is just toxic and doesn’t help solve anything, it just belittles others in the community and that’s not what this forum is about.
I think this needs to be clarified because I keep seeing people saying “GradedGem lost cards”: GradedGem didn’t lose anything. FedEx “lost” the cards at the Memphis Distribution Center (and I put “lost” in quotation marks because the cards were probably stolen).
Let’s place the lion’s share of the blame on which it needs to be placed: the parcel service.
The only place where gg messed up was not having proper insurance on their shipments going to PSA. The insurance was apparently not liable??? Maybe gg could sue the insurance company I’m not sure really.
But other than that, packages go missing all the time in the mail so this same issue could happen to literally any grading company. The only way to avoid it is to drop packages at the post office where the po box is located.
Love a good wild speculation thread
I don’t have time to keep up with the drama, but if this is about a lost package, @mjs61290, hit it on the head!
GG has been in business a long time. The statements about PSA cutting people who work with competitors makes sense. It would have been better to just come out and say that, rather than being vague. It would help dispel rumors. But maybe there is some legalize behind the scenes. Either way the main blame here is on the shipping company.
Connor literally put Rattle’s face with a crosshair and exes over his eyes and you say Rattle is stooping low for content? And everything you said in your first paragraph Rattle also stated in the video.
Graded Gem has submitted hundreds of thousands of cards, there is no reason why an emergency fund was not set aside for when something like this would happen or something else. For all you know there could be a fire, a break in, a robbery etc you should have money set aside in the event that cards get lost or damaged.
I’m indifferent towards GG and Connor, he obviously didn’t have bad intentions but criticism is very valid here. Also Connor talks about the situation in such a petty way talking about how “no one lost thousands of dollars worth of cards” as if that matters at all. A large part of pokemon is sentimental value and for all you know a $1 card could be priceless to someone.
I heard Connor shipped the cards to ACE grading instead of PSA grading and is saying he “lost” the cards so that he can keep all the ACE slabs!
Do your own research sheeple
Its a great clickbait / Pokedrama when things are quite like they are right now but this “drama” is a complete none story and people are really stretching to spin this like GradedGem were completely over their head and negligent and just lost a bunch of cards when its just an unfortunate incident.
I worked at a mail and parcel centre years ago and the lost parcel rates were fractions of a percentage, but that against the millions of cards sent off to PSA - it is no shock it has happened here purely down to statistics.
I could send raw cards in the post tomorrow and if they got lost I would be royally screwed, anyone that has had to make a claim on a lost item knows whats what - its incredibly difficult to get your money back, especially at the same value. You would think its easier as a business but insurance companies will find any reason to get out of paying, its actually suprising in my opinion they managed to provide customers with prices at near mint raw.
There is 0 chance you would get anywhere near PSA graded values of lost raw card items - its literally unheard off, it would be like a business losing car components in shipping and them claiming for the retail price of a car to the insurance company - the end product wasnt lost, it was the components.
Bad situation but its 100% on the shipping company, insurance companies doing what they always do and I have cards with Graded Gem UK - they are good guys and always respond to my messages, Ive had succesful submissions back from them too.
People really need to chill with this nonsense drama and focus on collecting and having a good time - so many worse actors in this community.
And I’m not defending GG either, but I think the crosshair whilst a tad in poor taste is not the same or to the level of Rattles response.
As others have stated, this is a non-starter issue and shouldn’t need this level of drama. GG lost some cards and probably could have handled it better - doesn’t give Rattle the right to come after Connor on a personal level - which some of the video really did - I found it really cringe towards the end.
Lets focus on the important matters; people have been given ‘some refund’ - nobody in this situation would ever be happy, GG & PSA are getting cards back to people (99.9% of cards they took in) and the less manufactured drama we have in the community, the better.
Rattle is way off the mark on this one, no need for it at all.
Rattle is a troll and Connor kinda fell for it. He shouldn’t have responded so directly to Rattle or put that thumbnail unless he’s ready to play Rattle’s game.
Rattle was right about the booster box case but I still think the way he conveys information is tabloid-esque. It makes for entertaining content but needs to be taken with a grain of salt. If you watch his video on FrostedCaribou, it’s a wild egregious stretch. Don’t take his word as gospel people, the dude loves tea.
The only thing I have to say is that effectively a middleman service has 1 job: to safely receive and ship packages.
Obviously nothing nefarious happened here, FedEx is the party at fault. It’s probably unfair to focus the blame on GradedGem but at the same time, they basically failed to deliver on their singular reason for existing and also any customers who are out because of this only can receive any recourse though GG. Standing back from an objective viewpoint, it’s easy to just point 100% of the blame at FedEx. But from the perspective of the submitter, knowing it’s FedEx that is the problem is not helpful to you.
It’s like storing your important data with a data security/storage company but they lose it all because of a harddrive failure. Sure, it’s ultimately SanDisk’s fault but if it was my data, I wouldn’t be writing an angry email to SanDisk.
In the end, I think it just comes down to whether this situation was properly prepared for and handled appropriately. I don’t have the time to watch 1.5 hrs worth of youtube to figure that out and come up with an opinion, and frankly this is not my problem so my opinion is pretty irrelevant anyway. Feel free to form your own opinions on that. The only thing I wanted to mention here is that it’s not unreasonable for a lot of the anger to fall on GG even if it’s not their actions that caused the problem
I liked it when Rattle went after weird scammy hype guys, not people that have been in the hobby a while and used a courier company that lost a package.

they basically failed to deliver on their singular reason for existing
Exactly.
Rattle just needs to be careful not to pull an H3H3 down the road - they had the moral YouTube high ground for a while with great research and mostly objective content, calling people out that “deserved” it, but then fell off & got hypocritical when being criticised themselves or going over the top playing the beacons of justice for entertainment purposes, with a clear agenda & framing in every new video.
Ig it’s a common trap. This is mostly just drama now and I’m out after a minute of this response
