I enjoyed the logan paul content and thought it was very well done but this was too much for me. It felt like he sat down and read a textbook on how businesses and insurance operate and then attacked GG when all “10 requirements of a middle man company” weren’t met. It unfortunately was not realistic for these people to get paid out at full value. They are lucky they got paid out at all considering that GG could have gone down two routes, 1) throw 100% of the blame on FedEx and told everyone to try to get from them or 2) just declare bankruptcy and complete screw everyone. In a business like this, insurance is never going to pay out PSA prices for raw cards. They have no proof that the cards were in pristine condition and GG’s pregrades mean absolutely nothing. If they held weight, then there is no reason for them to go past GG to PSA. Just a shitty situation all around but Rattle painting this guy like Jacob is outright cruel and uncalled for.
I don’t see the need for a Youtube drama fight over this. The video from Rattle was unnecessary, so was the video from GradedGem putting him in crosshairs, this is just typical clickbait bullshit. At this point it’s gone so far in the service of clicks I don’t even want to dig deeper.
A package got lost, and people tried to make it right. Maybe they could have done a slightly better job of it. What’s the big deal here?
@fourthstartcg Disagree that GGs video was unneccessary, imo it is comparable to your recent response to a speculative video on Efour’s behalf to correct stuff.
Totally agree about the thumbnail & the second paragraph.
Ask Rattle, he made the first video blaming GG which then prompted them to make a video to defend themselves and now this. Honestly, I feel like Rattle went a bit too far, some of his remarks are childish and personal in nature. GG didn’t lost the package, Fedex did. The only thing GG could have done better is notifying their customer earlier rather than now and getting adequate insurance which Connor already mentioned on both point he is sorry.
I hate to take part in the drama, however I truly feel sorry for how much shit Connor had to deal with in the last year or so. Graded Gem has been an official PSA dealer for a long time and submitted a humongous amount of cards. Calling them a pop up shop is just disrespectful and unnecessary.
They clearly had been using a proper shipping method since only one package went lost in years of activity. And when that happened, they found what feels like a pretty reasonable solution to me.
Of course it’s impossible to insure raw cards based on their potential value once graded, anyone stating the contrary is either an hypocrite or has no idea what he’s talking about. And of course the customers involved lost some money in most cases, that’s what happens when a package gets lost. Picking a few comments from some of these customer (whose anger is perfectly understandable) was quite low and a weak pretext to personally attack Connor.
I won’t continue further as to me it’s pretty clear who’s in the wrong.
Hmmm, want to post something here but dont want rattle to behead me for it… However i wish all graded gem customers are found content with the situation, at the end of this. I suspect they have more making up to do before that happens.
On one hand, like @pkmnflyingmaster said, it is kinda the main purpose of a middleman to safely ship your cards. It wasn’t GGs fault they were lost but was is his fault there wasn’t proper payout. However, he does seem to be trying to rectify this issue to the best of his ability given the current circumstances. I think a better approach on Rattles part wouldn’t be a video attacking GG directly but rather just generally reporting on the issue and the possible dangers of using a middle man or perhaps the use of insurance if you ship yourself.
Overall, I agree the drama is unnecessary. I imagine anybody whose actually tried to get insurance to cover something like this can attest that this is being vastly oversimplified. It’s normal for people to be upset in a situation like this, but I think maybe they should chill tf out and discuss privately, bc this isn’t really helping. There’s a lot of people who are probably rly upset rn, and this is stoking those flames and generating negativity and distrust.
I think you entirely missed the point of his FrostedCaribou video. He was merely calling out FrostedCaribou for her unbelievable hypocrisy. She made an entire hit piece criticizing some of the biggest people in the hobby for doing the same things she has done under the classic virtue signaling guise of “I care about the hobby.” That was why Rattle made that video.
I don’t agree with him going after GradedGem, though.
And herein lies the problem. The more people continue to let parcel services off the hook for incompetence which adversely affects their customers, the more the parcel services get away with. Like I said in a much more lengthy post in another thread: parcel services are literally the only businesses that can fail at their jobs and pass the buck on to their customers. It’s quite the scheme they are running.
And for what it’s worth, if I were one of the customers who lost my cards in this situation, I would absolutely care about what happened at FedEx. There’s a big difference between “GradedGem lost my cards” and “GradedGem properly shipped my cards to FedEx and they were lost by FedEx.” The former would make me pretty pissed at the grading company. The latter (which is what happened) would make me much more understanding of the grading company’s situation and angry with the parcel service. Do either of those two scenarios get me my cards back? No, but there is a difference between the two things.
I would also like to add that FedEx losing your cards is your problem because now you are out cards because of their incompetence. I’m not saying GradedGem handled this situation perfectly, but FedEx is the main issue here, and we should 100 percent care about their role here. Look no further than the E4 member who had six figures worth of cards going to PWCC Vault “lost” at FedEx’s Memphis Distribution Center.
Isn’t this the second story of a large(r) collection/package going missing at the Memphis fedex location? What’s going on there that $100k packages go missing?
For full disclosure, I would love to “rap battle” another PokeTuber . . . @smpratte, let’s do this!
“Sitting in your grandma basement knitting some Pokemon sweaters, you’re older, rarer, minter and you’re certainly better!”
. . . wait, I think I did this wrong.
It’s only related in the most general sense, but FedEx has been having big issues in the TN/AL area lately. Most recently a whole trucks worth of packages were found thrown in a ditch.
