Evolving Skies Market Watch

Yeah remind me of Gary “King pokemon” with the base set Charizard… when vintage meets modern, a love story… in all cases, just reinforces the math.

Last time I will engage with the trolling of Umbreon.
There are 12,142 PSA graded and 2,140 CGC graded.
There are probably 100,000 other copies either in binders or still in packs. The 100 or even 1,000 stolen copies have ZERO inpact on this card. Pokémon would have seen the hit clip was empty and refilled it with more cards. Even if they didn’t and still let base V cards be the hit, we are talking a few hundred cards here.

Exactly, they wish to emulate King Pokemon! :open_mouth:

Isn’t that already affecting the pull rates? People is supposed to pull the top 2 chase cards, yet they got base V.

Do you even know what you’re talking?

Quite amusing to see so many people taking pokebuffets bait :fishing_pole_and_fish::mouse_trap:

Worst case scenario 1,000 packs are affected. Best case is 0. Pokémon printed millions of these packs. Either way, it made no difference that is measureable.
This is where people think you are baiting us in to engage.

Nope. It makes a big difference in the pull rates.

For sake of discussion, assuming there should be 2,000 random packs each with 1 x Moonie in total 1,000,000 ES packs manufactured. That will make the pull rate 1 in 500 packs.

If 1,000 Moonies were stolen and replaced with Vs, that will make the pull rate 1 in 1,000 packs, even more difficult to pull. This is most likely the situation we are facing.

Talk about Pokemon, not the poster.

Still able to pull 12k moonbreons at psa, many more in binders and non graded.

It’s just a problem of order of magnitude: 1000 stolen moonbreons aren’t simply enough to affect the pull rate at global level.
What you are saying could have happened but for maybe a batch or two? Sure some unlucky kid has been stripped away of their moonies, but that’s it.

The bias that others already stated is that the total PSA population is much smaller than the real card pool: 1.000 stolen/100.000 (for example) is a ridiculous drop (1%) barely noticeable.

Being a modern card, the thief doesn’t even have the ability to inflate the mint card pool (like the gold star dogs), since almost all moombreons are presumably equally well conserved.

Having said so, it’s a neat card, that will remain iconic imho and will keep its value. So I’m not a moonie hater.

  1. That’s not all Evolving Skies… that has battle styles and all sorts of bum cases in there.

  2. This guy is a retailer and gets his product from distibutors. He sells a lot of it as soon as he gets it.

  3. He makes videos that are very clearly misleading to generate views. he talks about doing exactly this all the time. This picture is probably from when he had a few orders come in and he filmed it before he sent them out, and then sat on the video for awhile before posting…

Tale as old as time: People see one thing online, form an opinion and spread misinformation about it, cause people to think “omg product is being hoarded in mass… it will never be worth a nickel” and then Evolutions happens. lmao

Hey that’s me! I bought a green wing box in 2016 for $3100. I remember trying to a buy a regular box in 2019 for $8800-$9000 and never closed a deal. IDK how pfm scored one for $4k in 2019??

But I remember in 2010-2012 base boxes were definitely around $400. Probably closer to $600-$800 going into 2014.

sometime around then Gary had a case of First Edition on eBay for 10k lmao

Just imagine being a pandemic pokestonker waking up in 1999 and starts using his big brain hoarding sealed base set boosterboxes expecting 100% returns in months but turning into 12 long painful years😅

These dudes would have been long gone after a few years and probably got another side hustle or even a normal job make some money.

What is the reason this cant happen anymore?

Don’t get me wrong, I like Moonbreon (and plenty other modern cards), but calling it “the most iconic card in Pokemon history” just shows that some of you are a little bit delusional. You might call it the most iconic modern card, but even in that Tier it has some strong competition. But it is far away from the most iconic card in history. I would go even further and say it’s not even in the Top 10 of the most iconic cards of all time.

not even top 500 most iconic cards.
people are so delusional lol

everyone wants to feel like theyre special I guess. People are so high on ig/youtube hype they cant even realize what is happening. Being played like a fiddle its sad

Do you think evolving skies will suffer from being primarily an investment product for a lot of people buying the set?

Unlike cards from 1999/2000 were brought to schools and mostly destroyed. No one thought to buy them as investment pieces.

Or are there still kids buying and playing with cards? Or have so many adults bought out stores back in 2020/2021 that the same effect as 1999 didn’t occur for this set?

Also this is coming from someone who doesn’t have any idea of how modern primarily works as I only have a small handful of cards in a binder for modern

I think today everything moves so fast. The internet was still in its infancy in the 90s. Even if you had internet it was slow. Also you didn’t have the adult collector population. People like @KingPokemon were as rare as the PSA 10 Charizards he was collecting. Basically there are different factors today that influence the outcome of high printed product.

You’d essentially need to bet on the long term attention span of hype beast children and adolescents…

Not something I’d do now and I feel many parroting es to the moon are just victims being taken advantage of.

Not much different than a crypto pump and dump or pyramid scheme

Thats exactly how i feel.

People just buy whatever there favourite youtuber / influencer says.

If i had mountains of cases evolving skies sitting in my basements, i would do everything i could to try to make everyone believe it is the best investment in the world😅

even if you didnt have tons of it, it helps them drive attention from what has legitimate scarcity. A lot of these people arent as dumb as they come accross. You think Rudy thinks modern pokemon beats vintage pokemon? Lol no shot, he knows what hes doing

True, thats why he always post a video after he just bought pallets of certain modern set.

Promoting and telling all his followers that set is going to be the next big thing and after the video he leaves you with a feeling to buy as many boxes of that set as you possible can.
Very smart dude indeed.
