Evolving Skies Market Watch

Which modern set’s chase cards has its PSA 10 population to be 39 copies or below?

@pokebuffet

Does Evolutions prerelease staff Charizard count? That’s surely wanted card in PSA 10 and pop is currently sitting at 38 only.

Is it a modern set’s set card which one have to pull from packs? If yes, then yes.

Check out XY Pop reports. Some of the best cards in the sets with pops less than 39. Some whole sets have less cards graded than just Moonbreon.

Like the road less-travelled is less-travelled for a reason, I’m afraid these cards have low pop not because they’re scarce, but actually because they’re not highly sought-after…

Last time I will quote this.

Heard this phrase used often in online forums and discussion groups when people talked and ran out of things to say, not at me of course.

None of this even matters. If you want the chase cards, buy singles.

Yup, just buy singles. :ok_hand::laughing:

Like me, I bought the top 2 ES chase cards during Aug-Oct 2021 period (around release date) before the great increase in price in 2023. Ray was US$300+ and Moonie was US$200+ back in late 2021.

Yes back in 2021, Rayquaza vmax Alt Art was the top chase card of ES, even priced higher than Moonie. I was actually hesitant to buy Moonie but still bought it as I adore the artwork.

Of these millions of Pokémon fans, not everyone collects cards.

An even smaller number collect modern.

An even smaller number collect graded modern.

An even smaller number will be interested in this card.

Of those that are interested in the card, an even smaller amount will be able to afford it.

And of those actually able to afford and want it, a yet even smaller amount will commit to the purchase.

I am not interested in this card. Many others are also not. If I were to buy this card it will be raw.

Equating large consumer base to future stonks of one specific graded modern card is impossible. This card is very much a test subject, a case study, a speculation, if you will, on what will drive modern prices in the future. To say in current day, without doubt, with absolute certainty that this will be the generational modern chase equating to the likes of Base Charizard is outright impossible no matter how much you argue for it. It’s all just your subjective opinion.

The King of Cards, The God of Games, The Lord of Timmies, the creepy taco man, lover of 3% ladies, consumer of free tendies, the apex of unofficial financial advice, the perfect male specimen Rudy, Mr. Rudy, Sir Rudy, Supreme High Chancellor Rudy of the Cardboard Empire…for lack of any better words, he can be referred to simply as “peak”.

Hope Sir Rudy will continue to hold ES. Also hope he’ll put in some recommendations for ES singles like Moonie and Rayquaza vmax Alt Art.:pray::pray:

I’m a be honest there is an insane demand for PSA 10 moonbreon and people with no control will just swipe their credit card if they can’t afford it.

Finally, another great insight! :+1:

This modern vs vintage discussion is so overplayed.

But honestly it also feels like it’s only brought up in terms of value/investment.

It’s the number one pivot for solely vintage collectors because the art is incomparable. If you don’t like modern, who cares? Don’t need to bring it up all the time about how it’s overprinted, going to zero, massive pop reports whatever.

You like what you like, stop being so insecure about it.

Oof :+1:

Its all the same noise at the end of the day :joy:

So only 9200 people own a psa 10, for the most modern iconic card, if not the most iconic one in the pokemon history … lucky them

-When in 2020 suddenly everyone and their mom became aware a sealed box will be worth a lot more in 2030

-when everyone hypes each other that kids today will have more money in 2030

-when everyone suddenly echos to each other how big brained this move is.

-when everyone thinks the chase cards in the set are going to skyrocket over the next 10 years.

-When the pokemon company prints to this unsustainable demand.

-when pandemic demand is fading away.

-when investing in modern is the consensus.

I just cant be very optimistic for post 2020 modern over the next 10 years.

Or maybe im just salty because my 2 boxes are still worth msrp.
