I would wait a few more weeks before buying anything from this set. That’s when people are despo to sell and prices will have stabilized. Ho-Oh Promos are still $3-4. I think they will drop to $1.50-2.
I agree. Reason I am selling the cards that are not grade worthy now . Still good cards for those who are binder collectors or play the TCG.
So after 220 packs I pulled a whopping 0 Secret Rares/ Rainbow Rares/ Tube Mewtwo. Terrible luck! Glad I got a bunch of Zoroarks and Shining Mews to make some bucks back and buy the others… But pull rates were just brutal for me.
That sucks buddy, but hopefully this is a sign that maybe the set was done right when it comes to pull rates. Maybe this set will be less saturated for sure and hopefully good for all of us. I mean, after all, we all love rarity and the hunt it involves.
Yeah, I’m not overly disappointed or anything. I’m glad they made the pulls difficult, it’s part of the fun and challenge. Granted I had worse then average luck it seems but it’s still a great set. Cool cards, good size, good artwork. Still not a fan of Rainbow Rares but glad they weren’t all the same as the regular full art cards.
And my bad luck continues… 46 packs later and I only pulled Shining Arceus.
One of my Ho-Oh super premium collection boxes came today and the promos have no damage to them which is nice. Everything about the set is fantastic. The little booklet compares some of the new Shining cards to the old Neo ones and gives artist comments regarding them.
I know your pain, I’m 130 packs in so far and No shining mew, shining genesect, or shining rayquaza. Just gonna buy them from someone at this point. The set was still super fun to open though, the art is great and the ratios aren’t bad at all.
Heads up, my distributor up in Canada is sold out on ETBs, and has minimal pin boxes. This set exceeded everyone’s initial expectations.
Australian distributors really dropped the ball on this set. Any Aussies got their hands on the product yet?
BanterToys said to me “Shining Legends should be available late October. Thank you for your patience!” A month after the Pokemon Centre release because of “Shipping delays” aka wanted to save shipping costs by getting Shining Legends and Crimson Invasion shipped together?
Maybe this sounds silly because a lot of you get directly from your distributors and have eBay stores, etc… but if you’re ever just looking for some packs to open up or can’t find Shining Legends near you atm, check Best Buy.
They’ve got 20% off nearly all TCG products this week (excluding Shining Legends, I checked) and were stocked up on the Mewtwo/Pikachu pin collections. Burning Shadows packs were $3.19 yesterday.
Some pics of the two Ho-Oh Super Premium boxes + promo cards that I received today…video is to show how the Ho-Oh GX rainbow rare isn’t as pronounced texture-wise as the non-promo rainbow rares (shame, but still looks great). Second video is the box contents.
Quality of the promo cards is going to be a toss up…a lot of people will end up damaging theirs trying to pry them from the thick plastic tabs on either side of each card that hold them in place (and you still have to deal with centering issues and whitening that may already be on the cards). This is going to be a fantastic set to keep sealed though…the playmat is amazing looking!
I only got Shining Rayquaza from this set. $10 because I’m impatient and need to pop the S&M shining Pokémon cherry. I know they’ll be $5 next month, oh well . Can’t wait to take a shweet picture of it!
I think resellers are going bananas with anything, ANYTHING pokemon card related nowadays though. As if they’ve found a new career. They should’ve learned after the XY era. I see full art cards that were going for about $50 down to around $15-12 or less now. I think high prices are only good on NEW cards as long as impatient people exist. Other than that it’s a loss. Even 10 graded cards, yeah it’s time consuming to get a 10 but c’mon! Hilarious how the HR PSA 10 zards started off at @$1.5k and now they sell for @$300-400. If people had more patience they’d save a lot of money.
(Just an opinion I know nothing about reselling.)
Wow, the box contents are looking great. I’m still super bummed that the UK/EU Version is without that great playmate and the art book
You can’t pull it from the set, it’s only available as a Promo card from this box
Sounds like you are admitting to being one of those people. Obviously to a lesser extent and on a fairly cheap card to begin with, but yeah impatience is rampant not just in this hobby. Delaying gratification is something people struggle with and that is why the credit card companies flourish and rake in the dough and that is also why at release cards go for so much money. Impatient people willing to overspend will always exist. It is why companies like rent a center and Aaron’s can exist as well.
My two boxes I opened, with holos included for no reason other than they fit in the picture… My boxes were incredibly similar.

There are some good prices for those cards online. I personally have some myself on my e-bay store.
Are there already people whom opened this set in other lagueges beside Japanese and English?
