They’ll start off with perfectly centered cards for the first 2 hours of the print run and after that they’ll change it slightly so the rest of the cards will never be able to get PSA 10.
Then people keep opening product searching for those mythical, chicken-teeth tier perfectly centred cards!
I don’t think TPCI cares for the hardcore collectible aspect of the hobby at all. It is all about playing with the cards and the children market for them. I say this for a few reasons…
1: The way promo cards are packaged in those big boxes and plastic come with plenty of damage, and I’m not even talking about trying to get the cards out of them, that’s another problem. A handful of times in the last month or two I’ve gotten a checklane blister and two other collection boxes that had large indents, almost like a fingernail scraping against the back side of the card. These indents would be going down the left or ride sides of the card and nowhere near the plastic holding the card in. This shouldn’t happen to a brand new factory sealed product, which will lead me into another problem I’ve had with TPCI.
2: The awful centering and factory errors that happen with the cards. Burning Shadows is a great example of this recently where the back side of full art cards have had white specks ALL over all four sides. I pulled a secret rare Escape Rope and the card was literally ruined straight out of the pack. I’ve heard this to be the case with some Shining Legends cards too but can’t vouch for it personally.
3: I’ve contacted TPCI through the Pokemon website for card replacements and mentioned two particularly bad conditioned “pack fresh” cards or promo box cards that I’ve gotten. I mentioned all the white spots on the corners, packaging wear from the terrible plastic grips they use, etc… and they sent me a “new” replacement card that looked nearly as bad as the first one somehow. This really tips me off that TPCI just doesn’t “get it” when it comes to the collector aspect of this hobby.
All of this could simply be lazy QC, but who knows?
Hey so I was getting my submission ready for my shining cards and noticed that there is NO option on PSA’s item entry for the 75/73 raichu full art hyper (rainbow) rare. if anyone knows who to contact to get that implemented so I dont have to submit it as a normal GX, lemme know!
I have submitted a lot of cards that don’t have entries in the past. Find the most similar card near it in the set and simply start by entering that title and making the selection on it, then change the set # and title to the proper designation. I have done it dozens of times with obscure first graded topps stuff, and also with brand new set cards for which other cards from that set are already in the system.
So I opened another 2 boxes tonight. Did quite well on the first one with a few cards I was missing such as Rainbow Raichu GX and Mewtwo GX.
2nd one, I pull two Shinings in the 10 packs!
Dat centering.
I swear if it’s not that there’s sometimes the odd damage on the back surface of cards. I’ve not opened the amount of product some of you have but I’m starting to think it will be tough pulling 10s of all the key cards I want.
These weren’t originally mine, but I wanted to share them with you guys. Tough cards to grade so had to get these two with the sales of some of my own cards I pulled that I didn’t want to grade. Such a fun set. Look forward to getting them all as prices drop and hopefully stike some luck when I send mine for grading. Also noticed when they came in the mail that Shining Rayquaza was misspelled by PSA , was kind of amused thinking of keeping it that way.
I finally opened my Shining Legends ETB yesterday and I’m very happy with my pulls. I got a Shining Jirachi, Mewtwo GX, Raichu GX and an Entei GX FA. Not bad from 10 packs The card quality was very good too, backs of all cards look super clean. The big problem is centering though… The Jirachi I got could probably get a 9 OC grade if graded.
This is a very fun set to open, even the packs with no ultra rares are nice because the holos on this set are cool. I haven’t been the biggest fan of English holo cards since the XY era but for some reason I like the English Shining Legends holos. I guess it’s because the holo pops so well on the background of each of them
I read more into it. Apparently print errors on PSA’s side is not something that is unheard of. I could send it in for a correction but I’m honestly fine with it. The main thing is the actual identification number.
I never said it’s the first time, although the fact that it’s not does not make it any better. Hard to believe that you’re completely okay with that abomination of a typo. I would send it back asap.
Haha to be fair the “y” and “u” are right next to each other on the keyboard. The input error is probably due to the first submitter. Check it out, the standard template has the error!
Best way to sell your cards is to undercut the current market value, prices won’t stay that way anyway so best not to have your asking price lost in the sea of other sellers who are asking for the same price. I did that with mine a week ago and sold all the cards I needed to sell with 2 days. The value I got per card wasn’t good by any means based on the market value a week ago when I sold but it is definitly a good based on the current market now. Best to undercut because you know no matter what the prices will keep dropping until they reach the market value people feel they are worth which is when many will start buying to get those low ended prices.
