FINALLY!!! Yes… The day has FINALLY come. Thank the LORD
spelling isn’t my fortay
Nice
What a superb announcement. Killing yellow borders, set symbols and non-holo rares all at once.
Guaranteed holos too is great. Unexpected that they would make a pro-consumer move but glad it’s a good surprise.
Hopefully this means higher quality as well like the Japanese sets
That would truly be the end of an era
leave me alone
Never thought that I would see the day.
I am excited for the silver borders, but dreading the yellow-silver contrast in my binders.
To me it makes sense as eventually they will run out of different looking symbols enough that it will be hard to differentiate. We already have a few symbols that I need to double check when I see them.
Other that that the rest of these changes make sense to me too. Just crazy to hear!
Now if only they’d print on the same cardstock as Japan…
Silver looks better on full art style cards. I’m not really big on the darker silver generally though.
The HGSS era borders were probably some of the best in my mind
I love that they’re doing the silver borders. There are times when yellow could be better, but the current shade of yellow just clashes with almost everything. Big fan of the set codes too. Now I just wonder if there’s a chance they unify the backs and give us the JP back.
I’m actually more sad about the removal of set symbols for English and European languages than the change from yellow to silver borders tbh. I’ve always preferred them over the boring code set-symbols the Asian sets use.
I am looking forward to the silver borders for English FA Supporter/Character Rares Collection, though. I primarily collected the English cards because I could read their names, but for the Character Rares, the silver borders look way better than the yellow ones.
Greetz,
Quuador
as long as they keep up the great artist mix + high quality art/ set variety, i dont think ill pay much attention to the border
I’m surprised to see how many people liked the yellow borders, i guess the people who demanded change were just the more vocal ones. I also liked the yellow border, like many here it gave me the nostalgia and part of the feeling of opening packs as a kid. Was also coming to comment the same than @Dyl , i really liked the fact that there were so big visual differences in my grimer/muk binder between english and japanese releases, from now on the looks of my binder for future releases of grimer and muk (which hopefully will happen) will be a bit more bland i guess. But also seconding @pfm about the looks of HGSS era, that may have been the peak of the looks of tcg basic cards and i kinda wished we could get something like that again. I have a thing for anything old and historic and the cards from that era sure gave that feeling
I think people just don’t like change…
Yeah that may be part of it, and tbh it may be part of it for me too. I do enjoy routines and the feeling of some stability, and i think a same goes for a lot of people even regardless of if it’s in a good or bad way
I agree, it is human Psychology to get into rhythms and patterns. I love a quote when I am faced with a hard change:
“The more things change, the more they stay the same”
It’s like when PlayStation 3 changed their label after a couple years. I couldn’t have them mixed together.
I doubt this has anything with Pokémon listening to players who didn’t like the yellow and more with Pokémon making all the languages the same and unified. Pokemon has been slowly spreading exclusive promos, releases, and even trophies to Asian languages. I wouldn’t be surprised if English gets the same treatment in the future. It’s the start of a new era.
do you not have any full arts, ex (gen 3), LV.X, legendary collection reverse holos, primes, etc,… in your binders?
