We don’t know yet. They will have those details later. last year was three and the year prior I think was the same but they will answer that on the event page.
Also adding from my experience at Dallas signing events: in 2018 when Mitsuhiro Arita was there, initially they were letting attendees get 10 cards signed for $10 cash per card. They then lowered this to 5 cards because people were getting belligerent. You were allowed for one signature to also have a drawing. I believe it was a $20 “cover” to get in to the signing event. He provided the option of his English or Japanese signature on the card. (Mitsuhiro Arita or 有田満弘)
This year in 2019 for Kouki Saitou, I purchased the upgrade to watch his illustration demo and briefing thing that he did but I wasn’t able to attend because I was playing in day 2 of the TCG tournament. My friend went for me instead and got me 5 cards signed at $10 apiece. From what I remember, not many people signed up for this event as there were still available spots in the days leading up to the event. For his signatures, he gave the option of: Kouki S. or 斉藤コーキ (English or Japanese), the date of the signature, and a doodle of Pikachu, Eevee, or Mimikyu. I was able to go back later in the day and get a few more cards signed at the $10 price without a problem.
I imagine next year’s event will be run pretty similarly, with caps on signatures unless you have some kind of prior arrangement. I remember Mitsuhiro Arita being absolutely swamped (probably because of Charizard hype) and the regionals staff being very strict with their policy. For Saitou, I think there was less demand (at least when I went, it was later in the day) so I had no problem going back for more.
Tips: bring cash, probably 10s or 20s
Narrow down your choices beforehand so you’re not disappointed if you can’t get your entire gold star collection signed
Both Arita and Saitou had translators working with them that can help communication with the artists
I waited about 30 minutes in line for Arita’s signatures. They started turning people away that hadn’t purchased the priority pass
These were just my experiences but hopefully they were of some help to anybody who is planning on attending one of these for the first time. Attached are examples of my signatures from the events
I’m in Dallas the week before and the week after. Martin Luther King Day is that Monday and it’s a company holiday. Not sure I want to give up 3 days off. It’s always great seeing everyone. London will be fun.
Middlemen can’t do more than the normal amount of cards, but I’ve been trying to figure out something I can do for E4 so more people here have an opportunity to have something signed.
Once all the details of how many cards, how often in line, etc. are finalized, which I’m hoping will be within the next week, I’ll have a better idea of what that can be. Hang tight!
Anyone happen to have any advice on how to properly store the card after it’s been autographed? Also what’s the best way to transport a card to the autograph session if you’re out of state?
