I’m generally going off of this list but I know it’s not perfect, like Dragonair for example only has one entry because there’s only one page for it but there’s 2 different illustrations

@quuador I almost tagged you last night. I seen @macroplays also likes to collect Pokemon in every language which made me think of you! Nidoking is definitely a sick underrated Pokemon! Crystal Nidoking is stunning! Nidoking is also one of my favorite Base Set cards!
@kingboo64 You have quite the ambitious goals! I love Shinings you should definitely prioritize those in my opinion but it’s whatever you decide to do. You have a lot of similar goals as me. I’d love a Gold Star collection as well! Also a 1st edition base holo set would be quite the achievement! Looking forward to seeing your progress!

@azulryu That Snap Gyarados will be quite difficult to find and purchase but I bet you will be ecstatic once you’ve accomplished that goal! I’ve been seeing you talk about that card for awhile. I miss playing Pokemon SNAP! I’m looking forward to playing the new one once it’s released! Gyarados is one of my favourite Pokemon as well! I really want Skyridge Gyarados! Its definitely one of the cards I’ll be in the market for soon!
@trainerjack I’m glad you’re getting a lot of enjoyment from collecting! That’s what it’s all about! Ex’s are amazing cards. What’s your favorite ex? Mine would be Charizard, Tyranitar from Unseen Forces. Or Dragonite from ex Dragon I believe.

I have quite a few goals
- Finish EX Dragon
- Finish Roaring Skies
- Mini Volcarona Card Collection (Japanese & English)
- PSA or CGC 10 of Amazing Rares Japanese & English. (Just getting the cards at this point, not sending them in yet)
And this goal is just trying to find cards with varying degree of damage

Thanks man! Yeah I definitely want to finish my shinings before 2021, before I had primarily focused on those but took a break for a while and focused on other stuff, like buying collections, 2 gold stars, and a couple packs and such. As for the base the only thing that turned me away was charizard as I don’t really want to spend $10k for a decent copy, but I might have one on the way! If it works out I’ll go for the rest in shadowless, and slowly upgrade to 1st edition. It’s probably going to be a long term project, but definitely one I’ll enjoy!

Ex series booster boxes are quite rare and expensive. A ton of these weren’t printed due to it being a low point for the hobby. Good luck on your goals! Post progress for us. @dragonwarrior

Thanks, I’ve been collecting my whole life and have always loved it! Oh man there are so many great ex’s some of my favorites are Absol, Latios and Latias from Dragon Frontiers, Wailord, and Jirachi from Crystal Guardians. Excellent choices on your end too

@mcmimi I was just mentioning ex Dragon. It’s one of my favorite sets! I love Dragon Pokemon especially Dragonite or Rayquaza! I’m definitely looking forward to collecting the Amazing Rares as well. I did notice they arnt exactly so amazingly rare tho. 2 plus per box is contradictory to their name. Beautiful cards tho!
@kingboo64 Ya the most I’ve spent on a card so far was $700. Second most was $500 per for two cards so I spent a thousand total. I’m still struggling to bring myself to buy any card worth 1k plus. But now if I do decide to at one point it will be easier because I’ve finished the majority of my collection goals.
I was just reading my first post in this thread when I created it. I’ve accomplished almost everything I originally listed! I’ve been so happy sense! It feels amazing accomplishing goals you set out to do!

Great idea for a thread @mcorey777 . I will try to keep my collection page updated with this information as well, but I might just redo all of that anyway… But for the meantime here are my current collection goals:
- Complete Japanese Base, Jungle, Fossil, and now Rocket (about 80% of the way through, was about 95% of the way through the first 3 sets until I decided to add in Rocket as well).
- Every Umbreon card (English only - one of every unique artwork - I will never get my hands on the PLAY Umbreon, and I’m okay with that, lol)
- Every Togetic card (English - Holo, if not, reverse)
- Mcdonald’s Promo Cards (Almost complete, about 4 more cards I need)
Those are the only binder collections that I am working for. I have some other sets that are finished but I want to showcase them better on my collection page.
As for PSA cards/submissions, I really just pick up what I like. Generally I try and get 1-3 of a set/subset that I know I don’t want the full set/can’t afford it just so I can have a piece of that. For example I have a couple Gold Stars, a couple VS cards, etc.
- A couple Shining cards
- A couple Amazing Rares
- More Modern Japanese Pikachu Promos

This is pretty much me lol. Luckily, I was able to trade for an EX Dragon box from a forum member. But it took an offer very slanted in his favor (understandably) to pry it from him. I reallllllyyyyy want to own the other early EX Series boxes but the prices are just so high. I’ve considered liquidating some of my collection to buy more boxes, but I don’t get nearly as much joy from owning boxes as I do from owning an equal $ amount in cards. Ah, the woes of having limited financial resources…

I’ve been working on master sets and I’m under 150 cards away from completing Base through Call of Legends (some cards coming in so I’m not sure exactly right now). Then after that, I’m missing a few reverse holos and ultra rares from various sets so I’m not worried. Biggest holes are LC reverses and some Skyridge holos.
Haven’t added Fossil 3rd print and my hopes of a stadium challenge deoxys are very faint, so I’m just gonna pretend like I’m done excluding those…
As far as promos go, I’m nearly done from WOTC-BW including variants. I’m scared to finish XY and SM promos… there are so many.

My specific collection goals are actually fairly modest, as my “personal collection” (meaning stuff I have no intention of selling at any point unless an unbelievable offer comes along) is pretty small. Nonetheless, I have a few odd little subsets/items I either have completed, am on the verge of completing, or hope to acquire one day:
- Complete set of Winner stamped Best of Game promos (only missing Rocket’s Hitmonchan)
- Complete set of Japanese 10th Movie promos (low value but love the art; missing Lugia and Mew)
- Complete set of Call of Legends shinies (missing Rayquaza, per my buy thread the other day, and Ho-Oh)
- Complete set of prerelease promos through Call of Legends (missing JU Clefable, SS Armaldo, and PK Cacturne)
- Complete NM/M set of nonholo 1st Ed Neo Destiny (missing a handful)
- Complete NM/M set of EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua holos (missing a handful)
- Complete set of stamped U.S. tournament promos from 2004 through 2010 (I think complete?)
- Mint 1st Ed copies of Dark Vaporeon/Flareon/Jolteon and Light Vaporeon/Flareon/Jolteon (missing Dark Vaporeon)
- One of every nonholo rare from Expedition, Aquapolis, and Skyridge (missing ten total)
- One of every RH Ditto variant from EX Delta Species (missing all lol)
- One of every RH Castform variant from both Hidden Legends and Delta Species (missing most)
- Artset of Skyridge boosters (have none; this is for when I get a higher-paying job)
- Artset of FireRed & LeafGreen boosters (have none; just haven’t pulled the trigger)
- Secret Wonders booster box (second favorite set after Skyridge; LMK if anyone wants to trade one for a crisp Mysterious Treasures booster box and some extras)
As you can tell, my main focus is on (relatively) low-value English set cards. I own plenty of higher-end stuff, but I’m more inclined to actually try to complete subsets in which I like the artwork or that hold nostalgic value for me.
EDIT: Also, pretty much everything is raw, with a handful of exceptions for particularly expensive cards like the Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard promos from the 2004 Organized Play series. I don’t want my appreciation of, say, my COL shiny set to be thrown off by the fact that I have, like, all 8s and one 7 lol. OCD thing.

Over the last decade or so I’ve been working on collecting every unique print of Latias in English and Japanese. Almost there except for the Japanese unlimited holon phantoms (which is on ebay but in a bit less-than-desired condition) and the Latias EX/full art from Thunder Knuckle (these are so difficult to find). I even found a graded full art one once this past summer but was too naive about collecting at the time (only a little less so now!) and missed it.
I’d also like to own a PSA 10 Gold Star Latias one day, but not sure when that’ll happen…

Long but fun journey. That’s the same journey i just completed. I also took it all the way thru Darkness Ablaze. What are you going to collect from ex era? And are you aiming for all Wotc sets?

Completing every set is a crazy goal and I commend it. For ex era im just trying to complete the sets. One of each card, holo if the card has holo and I pick up some reverses here and there but not getting full master sets or full reverse holo sets. For wotc sets im going for pretty much first edition for every set. Exceptions are completing the first three, base jungle and fossil, in unlimited and maybe going back and completing another 1st edition version of those sets.

Lofty goals but I’m already this far so why not keep going right?
- Complete English decks and products containing decks: 265/350 (So far this is how many I’ve found including variants, not including UK versions beyond WOTC)
- Upgrade those decks to sealed copies: 218/350
- Japanese promo files(binders) containing cards: 6/11
- Complete delta species named cards… no clue where i stand on this but I know I need more rares
- E-series holos… I have no wallet left for this
- Collect nice looking cards… ongoing… forever
