Cards that break standard layout

Hi guys,

I recently stumbled across 034 Ponyta & 035 Porygon-z from the DPT-P promos (pictured below).
I wanted to ask if anyone can suggest any other cards like these that ‘break’ the traditional format by having obnoxious text or something similar?

Thanks for your help

2009/2010 Illustration contest winners and Pokemon Rumble cards are the first to come to mind .

I guess Ooyama’s Pikachu should be mentionned as well, though it is less obscure!

Cool idea! Haven’t seen your promos before. For obnoxious images you might like to take a look at my list of card artworks with real human photos:

For unorthodox layouts, the Trade Please! (or Exchange Please!) promo with the holo back and the Lenticular Deoxys come to mind.

BREAK cards and XY Mega evolutions look also pretty friggin strange and obnoxious if you ask me, but for some reason they were kinda the standard for some time.

I have two more for you, @mime .

It’s hard to even read the text on those suckers. I honestly can not overstate how inconceivably ugly I find most cards from roughly 2012-2014. On the other hand it helps to reset aesthetic standards and makes me appreciate the beautiful cards even more.

Thanks guys!

I came across this absolute monstrosity but cannot for the life of me find where it comes from, does anyone know?

All of the gold star cards have the pokemon extending outside of the holding shape that usually contains the artworks

Rocket’s Mewtwo from Gym Challenge has a smaller image box than a standard card.

Fairly sure this is someone’s gx marker that they have made themselves. They are used in the tcg I believe to signify that you have used your gx move for the match as you can only make one per game.
