Base Set Cosmos Holo Test Cards

Found these “Cosmos Holo Test” cards while paddling around on eBay. Never seen these before and wanted to share. What do you think about them?

The only connection I can make is to the fossil cosmos test sheet that was found and cut

There’s a CGC article about them here, one of the images in the article features the same cert Zapdos.

I’ve seen them before, not sure when. Possibly an older CGC IG post or something like that. Here are the pictures of the ones I’ve saved back then:

The Charizard and Mewtwo are also mentioned in the article @pikachutcg linked.

I don’t think I’ve seen any NFC Fossil Cosmos Holo cards yet. The English Fossil Cosmos Holos are fairly well-known, but those are correctly cut in the factory and leaked by (ex) WotC employees.
Here an (old) example picture of those:

@joponnes also recently added an English Cosmos holo Muk to his collection.

FYI, speaking about English WotC era Cosmos Holos, there are also Jungle (Japanese-style) Cosmos Holo ‘Test prints’ (aka NFC square cuts) for Kangaskhan and Vaporeon.
Which went from this uncut sheet:

To CGC-graded ‘Test prints’ like these:

Are test prints coming back?

Always interesting to see the things you find @BANKS

Thank you all for the knowledgeable responses!

That meme is great @Frosty.Puppy! It made me realize that’s CGC’s approach to authenticating random sheets is to just call it a test lol

Would love some nice proxies for playing

Thank you for bringing up the Jungle sheets and my pic! By the way, the owner of the sheet says he still has some but will not show anyone. There are only 11 or so out there right now and I was the one who got these three authenticated which opened the door for the rest.

Since I wasn’t mentioned… here’s the link to my thread.

@Banks- Base set cosmos were cut from a sheet from CIG. They were sold on Goldin/Heritage and have been floating around on the market for some time.

These were originally cut and graded by a well-known sheet-cutter and sold on Heritage and Goldin. I think they’re very boring, especially because we have Base Set 2.

Lad, do you even have eyes? These are so cool. Doesn’t matter if they were not factory cut.

Still highly unique and collectable.

The sad thing is Efour would lose their mind if they were in a psa slab.

“Especially because we have base set 2”

I think this is the first time that this has ever been spoken, ever.

I agree, cool af but hosestly id rather spend $20 on a decent convincing proxy for a deck then $10k+ on those. Still wish i could acquire a fake disco charizard lol

Slabs suck

Where could they be?

Man PSA owns property in your head. What @Dyl said isn’t about what plastic surrounds the card. Surprisingly a holo variant doesn’t do it for many people. Putting red lipstick on it won’t change that fact.

I’m not gonna hold you comparing base set 2 to anything and saying base set 2 is better lowkey just decimates your opinion :sob:

I can’t even name a set that’s worse than base set 2 :sob:

My opinion is not contingent on whether it’s graded by PSA, CGC, or BGS. Just so you know, I own PSA, CGC, and BGS slabs, not just PSA. I’ve graded with all three companies. So I don’t know what that’s about.

Cosmos Base Set is identical to Base Set 2, but it’s not factory cut (NFC), it doesn’t have the Base Set 2 set symbol, it has a different copyright date, and a different set number. To me, this is very boring.

I prefer Fossil Cosmos test prints. We don’t have a cosmos printing in English, so they offer something unique.
