I’ve been working with CGC and keeping these secret for a bit. These are cosmos foil Jungle Vaporeons and Kangaskhan from the PCD sheet. The sheet contains 110 cards, only a handful of these exist as far as I’ve found.
I found them at a local shop, I had to have them. I spoke wtih CGC and got with a friend of mine who used to work at WOTC to see if we could dig up any information. Nobody has seen these before (as far as we know) and neither has Rusty which tells me how rare they are. They have decided to designate them as “Japanese-Style Cosmos Holo Test Prints”. The bleed on these is pretty nuts. It’s similar to the Japanese cards where it bleeds through a little bit.
Before anyone asks, one of the Vaporeons has been traded already and the Kangaskhan and one Vaporeon is staying in my collection. Enjoy!
Very awesome. Likelihood these were tests made for theme decks? Also makes me wonder if theres even more interesting Jungle items sitting out there than we are aware of.
This is awesome. They should’ve came out with cosmo holos from the very beginning. Galaxy has always been an eye sore. The kanghaskan is just so much better
There isn’t much of a story. The person who had them claimed that they came from a wizards employee but not much else. Given that the area was near WOTC it makes sense, there’s all sorts of weird stuff that turns up at local shops around here.
Given that the cuts are definitely by hand, my guess is that they were done back then because they weren’t expecting them to be released or expensive. So that’s a good indication that they weren’t supposed to be a release.
