Well, who bought them?

If you manipulate 3 of the 4 grading aspects to perfection, what merit does a 10 have. Neuron activation I guess.

Wonder if the playtest/prototype scandal had any effect on the prices

For sure. If PSA had been willing to authenticate these we’d be having a different discussion.

I don’t think these CGC 10 sales are realistic prices at all. Someone just didn’t know what they were worth and followed the CardLadder guide on Fanatics Collect. When they were listed, CardLadder recommended $2,000 for the cards that were priced at $2,350. In reality, some of those sold for $3,000-$7,000 in lower grades.

It’s actually insane. Who grades CGC 10 Disco Test Prints without knowing their value? Most of these 10s are Pop 3-5.

Wait wait, I’ve seen this one before!

when did they get listed :face_with_monocle: i also saw they were sold earlier today or i woulda bought some myself but i never check pwcc fixed price

at any rate its the same ones from sothebys so the seller must know what they are doing no idea why they listed them so low: 1999 Pokemon Base Set Shadowless Disco Holo Square Cut Test Print Set of 15 Pokémon - 14 CGC 10 Gem Mints and 1 CGC 10 Pristine Charizard | Venusaur and Gyarados Signed by Mitsuhiro Arita | Holy Grails | Streetwear & Modern Collectibles | Sotheby's

actually whats interesting is that according to the pops there has only been one cosmos sheet :scissors: vs 2 for discos, yet the discos always sell for far more

Is there any information out there regarding these?

This personally strikes me a bit as odd to see all of these graded as gem mint 10s. I remember a few years ago, maybe 2021-2022? The first of these popping up and I believe it was a Charizard, in a much lower grade.

I am curious where all the other copies come from, and why there’s a pop report of these filled with multiple 10s now.

Edit: I might add, I’m really out of the loop on these. It’s possible they are super well documented and have been discussed in-depth before. Me typing this comment is a bit of a shock reaction between only seeing the individual lower grade card a few years back vs. a full set of 10s now.

Maybe the seller inspected the cards closer and saw they were printed in 2023 or 2024?

The pop report (ex. partial prints) is 116 total graded cards. One sheet contains 90 holos (ex. partial prints). It’s likely the person, that bought and cut the sheet, retained most of the 10s and sold-off the rest. Then later sold their 10 set at Soethbys recently.

The remaining 26 could well be the versions which popped up from childhood collections, from Twin Cities, in 2014. They were all in low grades.

And my final piece of speculation, maybe this individual just purchased the set for the Charizard and wanted to dumped the rest quickly - they were insanely cheap and I’m sad I missed the opportunity!

Edit: Ignore my speculation, I can see that Zard is for sale on Fanatics

Definitely a non zero chance. I know my enthusiasm for stuff like this has been completely snuffed for the foreseeable future.

People know and talk about Disco more. Because it gets the discussion and hype, the prices reflect that. I feel the Disco holo has often been that way. The prices of the Disco “Fillers” will never make sense to me. 5x the population of most holo Filler cards because there is 10 blanks per sheet, but still sells for more just because Disco gets the attention it does.

well they were all :scissors: so the grade doesn’t mean much

still 2-3k or w/e for a piece of the disco sheet seems pretty good no idea what it sold for originally but nowadays it would prolly go for at least 300k+ and then theres prolly lots of ppl who cant afford the entire sheet but having 1-2 pieces is good enuf

I’m disappointed I didn’t know and didn’t grab at least one more. I don’t care what anyone says about them, they are very cool in hand. And it’s still history. WAHHHHH CGC. WAHHHHH HAND CUT. Who cares.

can u set up an alert on pwcc fixed price like u can on ebay and do the snipe perchance

might not be as useful coz i am guessing there isnt that much opportunity as say on ebay

such a strange case, because you’d need to have sellers who know enough to buy obscure errors, use an external vault, but also not know what they are worth?

Could be a once time fluke on that seller’s part

this makes alotta sense but since the seller got them from sothebys they should have at least have a general idea of what they should be worth which makes this whole thing more confusing

maybe they saw that fake reddit sheet and panic sold thinking a flood was incoming
