Or maybe the Sotheby’s auction was shilled and never paid by a real owner? Who knows. It’s all very strange because recent sales via Goldin and eBay have shown strong prices.
I have to assume it would be literally impossible to obtain those cards and not know the value. Its not like you could have been holding them for 20 years, they just popped up during the hype
Maybe the buyer defaulted on their loan and the creditor liquidated the cards and other assets.
It just doesn’t make sense.
The good news everyone is that these will definitely be back up on sale super soon at a 30-50% markup
I care. Last time I bought “historical hand cut CGC cards” I nearly lost over $20k. Surely that’s a reasonable bruise to carry.
More like 3x-5x+ based on the recent CGC 7 sales.
CGC
Suspicious prices
obscure test print cards
This feels familiar and I don’t like it
I just pray that this isn’t a sign of some new scandal. That is about the long and short of it really.
I’ve had a cgc 3 disco Ninetales for years now and it was discovered a decade ago
Curious if people think differently about a card that was hand cut at wotc that had leaked out vs the cut sheets. Obviously I don’t mean price but more perception. I got this card from Tony/Delibird before any of the sheets were even cut and I doubt it would ever be worth selling now but at the very least I don’t feel bad about it like I would with the new cut sheets
the fact that the gyarados and chansey are listed so much more makes this whole thing more confusing. the gary is signed but so was the venusaur which they sold for less than half and is a more valuable poke
Look at their CardLadder price estimates. The owner followed those recommendations closely.
There is another disco sheet up for sale on Facebook so maybe they needed cash ASAP or were worried about another eight mint copies per species
Maybe they know something that we don’t. For all we know, there could be dozens of sheets out there ready to be cut and slabbed by CGC.
so they gonna do the again and theres another chance to get the cheapys at goldin
A CGC 8 Gyrados (old label) was on sale on the most famous italian PKMN group in march for 8k.
The owner was explained that he knows about at least 20 copies of each “Disco Holo” card.
well cgc has graded almost 20 copies of each one if you count the partial prints. but yeah no idea how many more of these sheets are floating around in the wild if they mean an additional 20 copies that would be something
This is giving me war flashbacks of the playtest card saga…and of course CGC is involved once again
I mean these sheets are indeed real and printed by wotc. They just aren’t products that were released and in that I don’t think there is much organic collector value
Goodness guys not everything is some grand conspiracy lol just listen to @fazool who has actual knowledge on them, these are real wotc cards. Some dude from another collecting category clearly bought these and decided to take cardladder at their word and got killed. It’s what happens when people with large sums of money and not knowledgeable in the hobby get involved.
Sure, that sucks. But… we all gamble. I guess in this case I gambled right
