I’ve been casually picking up Gym Heroes PSA 10’s since they’ve been pretty cheap the past couple of weeks, and I’m pretty baffled by the sealed premium on the booster box. Especially given how hard the Moltres and Gengar are to grade in a 10.
1st base box on pwcc is already over 400k when including buyers premium.

1ED base ended at $432,000. Very clean box but still a surprise to me.
Compare to the recent Goldin/Loupe box break that went for around $202k total with 2 zords pulled.

Perhaps the Goldin/Loupe box break is the reason it went so high?

I don’t wanna seem “elitist” or anything, but who is buying things like Jungle and Fossil unlimited boxes?
If you can afford $6.3k doesnt it make sense to pay an extra 50% or so to get it in first edition?
Probably paying an extra 50% already, 4K budget stretched to the max.

As said, people who desperately want a box they can’t afford.
The last (?) Jungle 1st Edition sale was $7,900 (a new low), so we’re talking 25% or $1,600 difference. The spread was closer to 100% just 6 months ago, meaning ~$8,000. That was arguably more difficult to stomach and to justify.
The difference got to be covered in holo’s expected value alone. Quick calculation :
Clefable 1st : 0.1*(1994-150)+0.65*(130-20)+0.25*(73-20) = $269.15
Clefable Unl : 0.1*(688-150)+0.65*(56-20)+0.25*(20.5-20) = $77.32
(269.15-77.32)*12 = $2,301
Just 1 data point, so take it as it is, but Cleafable is also slightly under average.
Those who settle for an unlimited Jungle box also get a consolation prize: a chance that it contains the “no symbol” holos. I could be wrong but I don’t think there’s a way to know one way or another just from looking at the outside of the box?
