Which is the most forgettable Gen 1 Pokemon?

I stand by my choice :joy:, Hypno is definitely forgettable. He is a top contender for the least anime appearances of all GEN 1 Pokemon. Ever.

Is MissingNo. Even a pokemon? (Also You Spelt it wrong, its “MissingNo.” Not “Missingno” the dot is vital)

Venonat is a great one, I forgot until I saw it in former replies, that kind of seals it for me

That is pretty shocking they don’t do one for Blaine’s Magmar since it was such a popular episode/Pokemom at the time.

It’s also wild they didn’t give Magmar a holo English card until Gen 3 (EX Ruby & Sapphire). How did Scyther, Mime, Electabuzz & Pinsir all get holo variants before Magmar?

Man there are so many Seel/Dewgong haters in this thread… Maybe I’m biased because around the time I was most active in Pokemon, there was a mod or other influential figure on Smogon that loved Dewgong, so I saw it everywhere.

Come on, Spearow? It’s been 9 generations and Fearow still goes nowhere, what’s up with that? Where is my Fearow-eats-a-Skarmory offensive oriented metal bird? Ekans and Arbok as snake and cobra backwards? Lame. Arbok is ok-ish, Ekans is zzz. Diglett. Absolute trash design in that line: Dugtrio = TRIple Diglett? No.

To answer explicitly the most forgettable, hmm… It’s probably going to have to be Tangela, Lickitung, or Farfetch’d. I’d have difficulty saying it was anything that had an actual evolution line, since thinking of any part of the line will immediately trigger the rest of it.

I love how you ironically additionally proved your point by misspelling ‘Seel’.

I think an even better question is why the heck he had a Rhydon in the anime.

They did Rhydon so dirty. First knocked out by Pikachu in the hands of the wrong Gym Leader. Then knocked out by a Pidgeots Double Edge under the command of a fake Gym Leader. Then fried by Pikachu. Again.

He’s supposed to be Giovanni’s ace!

I would say Pinsir has gotta be pretty close to the top of the list of most forgettable Gen 1 pokemon. I frequently forget about it. I also despise the design.

Lickitung is in the same boat I think.

I can’t remember the circumstances in the anime (it’s been so long since I watched it) but there’s no way an absolute tank like Rhydon would sweat a Double Edge and electricity wouldn’t even affect it. Interesting that Ash is such a “legendary” trainer and choosing those strategies!

It’s alright…the Pinsir/Mr Mime fusion spices things up and makes it more…interesting.

Yeah, they repeatedly use the lightning rod effect as a source of weakness in the anime. The same ability grants immunity to electric attacks from Gen 5 onwards.

Kind of like how all the 4x Rock weak birds have a resistance to Rock moves in the tcg.

On the subject of Blaines battle though, I always appreciated how Ninetales crisps Squirtle with a Fire Spin, a nice way to emphasize how type advantage isn’t everything.

Fire Spin was ridiculously OP in the anime when it was just one of those trapping moves in the game with weak attack power. Considering Charizard learns Fire Spin at such a high level, I wanted it to be that massive burning tornado of destruction.

Haha, same! :joy: It sounds like a proper evil move, which it definitely was but not in the way one expected.
