When we´re talking about superstars, Pokémon like Mr. Mime, Jynx.. Kidding, of course. Pokémon like Pikachu, Umbreon, Espeon and Charizard come to mind, and to a lesser degree Mewtwo, Mew and Rayquaza.
But what´s interesting is that all of these Pokémon are Gen 1 - 3. That means that Gen Z´ers did not grow up with them. Also, some of us older fans might come to like some of the newer Pokémon that just haven´t settled in yet.
So, what Pokémon do you think has a real chance of becoming a star? This isn´t necessarily about the Pokémon that you think will be the next thing (because that isn´t predictable), but more about the Pokémon that you think should be it. Also, it´s not about Pokémon that already have a big fan-base (Greninja, Lucario, ect.).
I´m going with Noivern. I never understood why this design wasn´t more popular. It´s a dragon bat, with neon green wings and the speed (almost) of an Electrode. But, it faded into obscurity. It just goes to show that popularity is hard to predict.
I will call names out of first 3 gens as we get always from those
Zoroark (both regular and hisuian)
Melmetal and Rowlet
Greninja (basically already a supestar)
Dragapult line (best pseudo line to exist and needed the superstar mark)
Charcadet, Armarogue and Ceruledge (potential competitors from gen 9)
There won’t be a random new favorite Pokemon for people. I think if a Pokemon doesn’t have a strong fanbase immediately after a release it won’t get a lot of attention down the road. People always liked Gengar, Umbreon, Rayquaza, etc.
