What Pokémon is way too popular for whatever reason?
For me it´s the Gen 5 Legendary duo. Reshiram and Zekrom seem to have a decent following, but I really can´t get behind their designs. For me they stand for everything that´s wrong with Gen 5; messy designs, kwantity over quality. If Pokémon ever was in danger of becoming Digimonish, it was here.

Charizard. It’s cool, but not as cool as all of the hype would make you believe. And at this point whenever I see Charizard cards I usually just blaze right past them because my distaste for Charizard hype has grown so much.
In the context of cards, it would clearly be Charizard up until about 2023. It’s no longer cool to like Charizard though.
I hate to say it, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Greninja. It’s more of a Digimon. Same with Lycanroc.
I agree on the Ponchos. Burger-chu and Van Gogh at least have some style personality. The Ponchos literally look like temu-mashup fan art. 
That being said. My pick is..
Charizard. I really wish I liked Charizard as much as everyone else. If I did, I would have just bought PSA 10 1st Edition for $2500 back in 2012/2013 instead a PSA 9 for $700.

At this point? Really any of the psuedo legendaries and legendaries from the first 5 generations.
Yes we all know they were awesome, but the current amount of hype and cards they get compared to Pokemon you would actually see in a playthrough of their respective generations is insane. And it just kind of cheapens these once-mysterious pokemon. This lhas frankly been an issue since the late EX era that just got worse and worse over time.
Gengar feels more like a cult than a Pokemon nowadays
